Li Ang received some unexpected news at the Potion Association: an eighth-tier Saint wanted to meet him.
“Li Ang, if you donโt want to meet them, we can always refuse.”
Pace looked at Li Ang with some nervousness. He couldnโt figure out why a Saint suddenly wanted to see Li Ang, and even more so, this meeting had been arranged by His Majesty himself.
Li Ang shook his head.
“Since itโs a direct order from His Majesty, do I really have a choice?”
This was already beyond what the Potion Association could handle, and Li Ang didnโt think the eighth-tier had any ill intentions toward him.
If a powerhouse of that level wanted to kill someone as ordinary as him, there was no need to go through all this trouble.
“Did His Majesty say where the eighth-tier would be waiting for me?”
Li Ang thought for a moment, then looked at Pace.
“I thinkโฆ itโs in the palaceโs Gardenโฆ”
“Alright, I understand.”
Li Ang nodded and set out for the palace at once.
Led by the guards, he soon arrived at a Garden deep within the royal palace.
After taking him to a spot beside a small Bridge, the guard excused himself and left.
Li Ang glanced around, and soon noticed a small Pavilion not far off. He walked toward it.
As he walked, he pondered why this eighth-tier Saint had singled him out. Could it be related to His Majesty?
Lost in thought, he found himself near the Pavilion. Within, a solitary figure stood motionless.
She stood there quietly, as if a sculpture of ice forgotten by time, emanating a chill that kept all at a distance.
Sensing someoneโs approach, the woman slowly turned around, her pale blue hair gently fluttering.
Li Angโs gaze instinctively fell upon the blue crystal protruding from her foreheadโit looked like a horn?
A demonkin?
No, that wasnโt right.
Li Ang quickly noticed the blue-scaled tail behind her, gently swaying. Its tip seemed made of ice, scattering tiny crystals and mist through the air as it moved.
What stood out most were her slit pupils, as cold as a serpentโs, while the whites of her eyes shone with a faint blue tint. When she looked at Li Ang, it was like being stared at by a block of black iceโfrigid and aloof.
Fine, ice-like scales adorned the edges of her eyes and cheekbones, adding an exotic allure.
Li Ang drew a deep breath, his mind set. The woman before him was none other than a powerful Frost Dragon!
The Dragon Clan was always shrouded in mysteryโwho would have thought heโd encounter one here?
“Seโฆsenior? Were you looking for me?”
Li Ang spoke with utmost respect.
The womanโs face remained calm as she gave a slight nod, then took a seat on the long bench inside the Pavilion.
Seeing this, Li Ang carefully sat down opposite her, taking a closer look at this Dragon Lady.
Her face was exquisitely delicate, her skin as pale as fresh snow, and faint Magic Patterns resembling cracks in ice shimmered across it.
She wore an Ice Silk Chiffon Dress, its skirt cascading down like a waterfall, accentuating her slender waist.
Just as Li Ang was marveling at what a Dragon Lady really looked like, the woman spoke in a soft, cool voice.
“Your name is Li Ang?”
As she spoke, a faint mist of icy breath escaped her lips.
This was an eighth-tier Saintโevery movement, every word, affected the very air itself.
“Thatโs me.”
Li Ang averted his gaze, keeping his tone respectful.
Could she be here to steal the magic potion? But that only increased magic absorption speedโit wouldnโt be of much use to an eighth-tier Saint, would it?
While he was speculating wildly, the woman before him, as still as a sculpture, spoke again: “Do youโฆhave someone you like?”
The Ice Dragon Ladyโs voice was so detached that Li Ang doubted his own ears.
But when he met her calm, blue eyes, he realized this senior Dragon Lady was not joking.
Could it beโฆ she wanted to play matchmaker for him?
Li Ang pinched his thigh, took a deep breath, and cautiously replied, “Iโฆ already have a fiancรฉe.”
A faint trace of gloom flickered in the woman’s blue eyes, but she soon nodded. “Is it that succubus?”
Her words hit Li Ang like a sledgehammer to the chest. He leapt to his feet, his face stricken with shock and a trace of fear.
His heart raced. He knew exactly what it would mean if Lias’s identity were exposed.
What should he do?
What was she planning?
Did Solaris I know?
Compared to Li Ang’s alarm, the woman simply gazed at him serenely. “Do you want to help her become Demon King?”
Li Ang remained silent.
The woman went on calmly, “But right now, youโre just an ordinary human. Youโll only live a hundred years or so. There can be no future for the two of you.”
“โฆโฆ”
Realizing that the woman didnโt seem hostile, Li Ang sat down again, grinning wryly. “I know.”
“But liking someone is just thatโliking them. If I give up just because of a little trouble, what right do I have to say I like her at all?”
“Liking someone is justโฆ liking them?”
The woman repeated his words quietly, then looked up. “But have you ever thought about what will happen when the day comes? What will that succubus do then?”
Li Ang froze, catching a glimpse of sorrow in her eyes.
He fell silent.
It was trueโwhen the time came, could Lias bear his departure?
“Maybe youโre right. You saved her, and your fates are bound together. No matter how it ends, at least for nowโฆ itโs good.”
A deep sadness clouded the woman’s brow.
“Sell me your next potion. Iโll pay you a satisfactory price.”
She clearly didnโt want to linger on the previous topic.
Li Ang hesitated, then nodded. “Alright.”
“A favorโwhat would you like me to do?”
The Ice Dragon Lady spoke coolly.
After a momentโs hesitation, Li Ang took out two Rings from his pocket. “Could you forge these into Magic Devices?”
“I can.”
She nodded impassively, then waved her hand. Instantly, blue crystal enveloped the pair of Rings, radiating an azure light.
Moments later, the glow faded away. The Rings dropped back into his palm, cool to the touch.
Li Ang tucked the Rings into his pocket, then asked hesitantly, “Thereโs one more question Iโd like to ask you.”
She nodded softly.
“I want to create an elixir of immortality. Is it possibleโฆ”
Li Ang asked, somewhat nervous, looking into the Ice Dragon Ladyโs blue eyes.
She simply shook her head, expressionless, and vanished from sight.
After she left, the oppressive atmosphere in the Pavilion vanished as well, though Li Ang felt a touch of disappointment in his heart.
He couldnโt shake the feeling that the Ice Dragon Lady had looked at him strangely. Instinctively, he didnโt want to get too involved with her, which was why heโd made such a simple request.
Li Ang left the palace and walked home, his mind replaying the womanโs words, his brow tightly knit.
Could it be that he really was dragging Lias down?
Lias herself seemed to have forgotten her hatredโwas that really a good thing for her?
