Principal Lü went to find Xu Chuyao, and of course, it wasn’t about the theory exam paper, though he did mention it briefly.
“Teacher Hu said he’s never seen a test paper like this in his life. I took a look too and told him it’s exactly as it seems.”
Xu Chuyao smiled. “Of course. I never exaggerate.”
Principal Lü didn’t notice she was a little tipsy; he just thought the kid was pretty funny.
As for her slightly slurred speech, and that soft, childish tone well, that was normal for a girl.
After a few pleasantries, he got down to business:
“The Mayor is arranging the conditions you requested. The city is gradually implementing population control measures. Now, everyone entering or leaving needs strict registration. By the time your operation begins, entry and exit will be completely restricted.”
“That’s excellent.”
“As for the Chen Family, who knows when there’ll be news, but they’re working hard. Also, to comfort the frightened citizens and reduce the impact of the restrictions, the Mayor is planning to invite a popular idol, some Songstress, I think to hold a concert in the city in a few days.”
“If she wants to sing, let her sing.”
“Also, Minister Long has heard about what’s going on here, and he knows you intend to switch from defense to offense. From what I understand, if you can take care of the Clown Gang in Center City, he’ll recommend you to handle all the Clown Gang cases, and you might even be involved in countermeasures related to the Supreme Society.”
This last topic was fairly serious, and Xu Chuyao sobered up at once, though her tongue was still a little thick:
“Minister Long truly has an eye for heroes~”
Sober or not, there wasn’t much difference.
“Hahaha.”
For the first time, Principal Lü realized that his genius girl was actually this humorous, and he laughed heartily.
On the Stage, Third Year Class One’s last performance had just ended. The boy who sang but forgot the lyrics walked off Stage, blushing, as if mourning his life for the next semester.
“By the way, I heard from Teacher Yu that you and Shen Ning are close.”
This time, Xu Chuyao really did sober up. She blinked her eyes cutely, hiding a sudden clarity.
“We’re pretty close,” she said.
“That’s good.”
Principal Lü finished those three words, paused for nearly half a minute, then spoke again, his voice a little softer: “Shen Ning’s identity is rather special. Strictly speaking, she doesn’t really belong to the Academy. Her hometown is in a region owned by the Rockmorgan Family.”
Right, I know that.
Xu Chuyao thought so in her heart, but her face showed a look of “Ah, so that’s how it is,” as if surprised.
“But something seems to have happened recently. The Medical Team monitoring her has all been withdrawn, supposedly for work reassignment. And even though the region is under their jurisdiction, people have free will,” Principal Lü hinted strongly, “If she’s truly determined to follow you, I think even the Rockmorgan Family wouldn’t have any reason to force a girl to go somewhere she doesn’t want.”
He was tempted by Shen Ning too. If she were just an eighteen-year-old at Tier Two, that would be nothing special, but she had just reached Tier Two and already mastered several powerful skills, using them fluently in battle she was no ordinary genius.
“Of course,” Xu Chuyao replied without hesitation, “Shen Ning will always be mine!”
The heroine has to farm villain points for herself for a lifetime, no way she’d let anyone steal her away.
“Hahaha, good!”
Normally, things like this should be said quietly, calmly, without stirring the waters—otherwise, it seems like you’re scheming too much.
But Xu Chuyao spoke with such boldness that even Principal Lü couldn’t help himself.
Having said all there was to say, the girl returned to her classmates.
By now, the students on Stage were from other classes, so her classmates weren’t as interested in the performances and focused their attention on the girl who had just come back.
“Xu Chuyao, did you notice during the theory exam? All the questions were about you guys.”
“Of course I noticed. It was great. Full marks guaranteed. If I didn’t get full marks, it’d be the grading teacher’s fault.”
“Xu Chuyao, how did you reach Tier Two so quickly? You don’t seem like Shen Ning, who, um, works herself to the bone.”
“I don’t know either.”
“Xu Chuyao, how did your chest get so big?”
“Eat more papaya, drink more milk, and then leave it to fate. It’s all about talent. With your current level, don’t even think about reaching my height. Your goal should be a B.”
The fruit wine at the banquet was really delicious. Xu Chuyao couldn’t stop once she started drinking. Soon, several empty bottles lay on the floor, her cheeks flushed red, and she started chatting with the classmates around her:
“The Clown Gang isn’t that scary. Sure, there’s a difference in strength between Tier One and Tier Two, but if you’re all Tier One, what’s the difference? Don’t think they can kill and you can’t. Before they killed their first person, they couldn’t kill either.”
A rather philosophical statement, leaving her less-educated classmates stunned and speechless.
“How did I know there’d be an ambush? Simple. Last time, they got tricked and were furious. When people get angry, they want revenge. If they want revenge but can’t win in a fair fight, they’ll try to be sneaky so of course there’s an ambush.”
Tactical principle: I won, so my way of fighting is the professional way.
“Graduation Aspiration? No idea. Maybe I’ll rack up enough achievements before graduation and head straight into retirement… No, can’t drink anymore. I’m not drunk, really, I’m not drunk.”
That’s what she said, but the swaying big rabbit her wasn’t standing very steadily.
“Not drunk, not drunk, but you need to go rest. Which girl will help Xu Chuyao back?”
A hand quietly wrapped around the girl’s waist, letting her lean in, and led her toward the Dormitory.
Not long after, Mi Xiaolu came back too. She hadn’t drunk any alcohol, but both her hands were full of Pudding Jelly, eating happily.
But when she saw only empty bottles on the floor and no sign of her roommate, she immediately became anxious:
“Where’s Xu Chuyao? Did anyone see her?”
With that much alcohol, she was obviously drunk and taken away by someone. Could something have happened?
“Shen Ning took her back just now,” a boy said.
“Oh, that’s fine then.”
Her worried heart relaxed. Mi Xiaolu swallowed a piece of Pudding Jelly, then blinked and opened her eyes—
Wait, something’s wrong! And it’s a big deal!
But this anxious feeling only lasted a few seconds. Mi Xiaolu calmed down again and sat down to continue eating Pudding Jelly.
It really is a big deal, but there’s nothing I can do to help, so I won’t worry about it.
Let fate decide.
