“I said, it’s fine.”
Su Qing Ruan repeated her earlier words, her tone still flat, as if she were stating something completely ordinary.
“Rent is paid monthly with a one-month deposit. Utilities are split equally. Keep common areas clean. Respect each other’s privacy. If you agree, we can sign the contract now.”
So… we’re signing the contract just like that?
Yu Qing was completely stunned.
She agreed this easily?
Isn’t this a bit too hasty?!
He hadn’t even started using any of the reasons he’d prepared!
The expected difficulties didn’t appear at all, not even normal conversation.
The speed of her agreement left Yu Qing at a loss.
He even started to wonder if there was some kind of trap waiting for him in this place!
No, he definitely had to ask for clarification!
“Um, before we sign the contract, can I ask why you agreed to let me move in so quickly? The listing said you only wanted female tenants?”
Yu Qing scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
The more decisive she was, the more hesitant he became.
What a strange feeling.
“Now you’re worried? Yesterday, in that desolate place, you slept right in front of a stranger like me. Why weren’t you so cautious then?”
Su Qing Ruan’s tone carried a rare hint of sarcasm.
Her cold, delicate face showed a trace of disdain as she waved her hand.
“Looking for a female roommate was just to avoid unnecessary trouble. As for you, I think you might actually cause me less trouble than most girls.”
Almost unconsciously, Su Qing Ruan subtly mocked Yu Qing’s character once again.
“Ahaha, that’s really great, huh.”
He’d achieved his goal, so why did his feelings become so complicated?
But it was true.
Hardly anyone went to that place on normal days.
He’d let his guard down, exhausted from work, and hadn’t thought too much before falling asleep.
So, sometimes fate really is unpredictable.
“If there’s no problem, come in. I have things to do after the contract, so don’t dawdle.”
Su Qing Ruan’s tone was calm.
She crossed her arms, stepped aside to let Yu Qing in, then picked up a contract from the table in the Living Room, handing it to him.
“Take a look. If it’s fine, sign it. Did you bring your Identity Card? If you did, give it to me. I need to register you.”
Yu Qing replayed her words in his mind and nodded, quickly scanning the contract in front of him.
The terms were clear and simple, the rent within his acceptable range, nothing suspicious.
After confirming, Yu Qing handed his Identity Card to Su Qing Ruan.
She took it, glanced between the photo and him, a flicker of confusion in her eyes, but said nothing.
She snapped a photo with her phone and returned it to him.
Sign first, then transfer the money.
The entire process was so fast it was hard to believe.
Even when Su Qing Ruan handed him the keys to the Apartment, Yu Qing still felt like he was dreaming.
Was it really over just like that?
“My name is Su Qing Ruan.”
While Yu Qing was still in a daze, Su Qing Ruan introduced herself quietly, putting away the signed contract and looking at Yu Qing with an indifferent expression.
“I just arrived here on a business trip. I’ll be staying for about half a year. So, you can live here for six months. After that, it depends on your behavior. This Apartment has already been bought by me. If you do well, you can continue renting it.”
“I’m usually busy with work, so I leave early and come back late. Don’t worry about us getting in each other’s way. But I hope you follow the rules—don’t bother me.”
She pointed to a closed door deeper inside.
“That’s your bedroom. It has basic furniture, but you’ll need to clean it yourself. If there’s nothing else, I’ll go rest.”
With that, Su Qing Ruan ignored Yu Qing and walked straight to the Master Bedroom, closing the door behind her.
Yu Qing was left alone in the empty Living Room, clutching the key, his emotions in turmoil.
By rights, he’d found a place and solved his urgent problem.
The process was smoother than he could have hoped. He should be happy.
But…
It was too strange.
Su Qing Ruan said she wanted a female roommate to avoid trouble, but in this situation, she was obviously the landlord!
If she disliked trouble, why take on a roommate at all?
She bought a place just for a business trip?
People like that wouldn’t care about earning a bit of rent by finding a roommate!
This wasn’t right. It was nine parts wrong out of ten!
But the contract was signed.
If Su Qing Ruan had said all this before, Yu Qing would have picked up his bag and left immediately.
But now he was already on board, it was hard to leave.
Yu Qing shook his head, trying to clear his chaotic thoughts.
No matter what Su Qing Ruan’s intentions were, at least his own goal was accomplished.
A three-bedroom, one Living Room Apartment, decent soundproofing—he’d checked just now and hadn’t heard any neighbors.
He hadn’t explored the rest of the Apartment, but it couldn’t be too bad.
Su Qing Ruan said she was out early and back late.
That sounded true, so he would have his privacy.
Aside from a little uncertainty, the Apartment was pretty much perfect.
Yu Qing walked to the door of his own bedroom, unlocked it with the key, and went inside.
The room wasn’t big, but it was clean and tidy.
Just as Su Qing Ruan had said, there was a bed, a wardrobe, and a desk.
The window faced south.
Near noon, sunlight streamed through the glass, filling the room with warmth.
After locking the door behind him, Yu Qing sat on the bed and finally let out a breath.
The main thing was done.
Now he needed to plan the smaller matters.
Since he’d moved out, he didn’t need to avoid Li Ming as much.
He’d apologize when he got the chance—after all, they probably wouldn’t meet often from now on.
No matter what Li Ming knew, it wouldn’t be a threat.
Then, there was the matter of dancing.
For Yu Qing now, he wasn’t sure if Dance Practice was meaningful to him.
Even though he could get close to the junior, after several sessions, Yu Qing clearly felt how shrewd she was.
No matter how subtle his questions, she always blocked them skillfully, and he learned little.
Worse, he couldn’t skip the sessions.
At least until he finished Dance Practice, he’d have to keep going to be teased by the junior.
He could only try to learn Waltz as quickly as possible, so he could escape and do what he really wanted.
As for what he really wanted, Yu Qing still didn’t know.
He’d originally planned to observe the junior’s habits up close, but he realized those behaviors seemed to be an act.
At least, he hadn’t heard anyone else say the junior enjoyed teasing others.
After eating, Yu Qing considered directly transforming into the junior’s appearance to replace her when she wasn’t around and get used to her life.
But that wouldn’t work, since he didn’t know when she was absent, or whether she’d told anyone anything before leaving.
In the end, Yu Qing even thought about just kidnapping the junior and dumping her somewhere no one would find her.
That way, even if his impersonation wasn’t perfect, as long as he was the only “Fu Yi” in the world, others wouldn’t suspect.
But obviously, that wouldn’t work either.
Even if he could find a place to hide her, could he actually kidnap the junior?
She was clever, hard to fool, and likely came from a wealthy family.
She rode in a Maybach and was always busy—probably with company affairs.
People like that usually had strong awareness and bodyguards around.
And even if he caught her, could he really go as far as to kill her?
Yu Qing didn’t know. He’d always avoided thinking about that question.
