As bedtime approached, Delilah was about to tell Mi La about her Funeral Plan.
Mi La heard about her own failed ending and was so scared her legs went weak.
She was so frightened she wrapped herself tightly in her little blanket, not daring to look at the figure in the white priestess robe.
“A… valuable funeral?” Mi La repeated her sister’s words, her voice trembling and tearful.
She was thinking the worst about what that phrase meant.
“I’m your own little sister! You… you worthless… big sister…”
Delilah ignored her sister, whose voice was growing softer and softer. She just stared out the window at the crescent moon hanging among the dark clouds.
“Nine-tailed Celestial Fox, the last descendant of the Moon Tail Royal Clan…”
She murmured to herself, her voice unable to hide a certain excitement.
“Yiweite, that little human Sword Saint, actually ended up hanging around with a fox…”
“Mi La, although you were completely useless this time, you did bring back a very piece of information.”
She turned around and walked back from the windowsill to stand in front of Mi La.
“Do you know what a pure-blooded Nine-tailed Celestial Fox Royal Clan member means to us Nightmare Demons and Succubi?”
Delilah looked down at Mi La, who had curled up into a blanket caterpillar.
Mi La just shook her head blankly. She only knew that older Foxfolk were extremely hard to charm; she didn’t know the details beyond that.
“It means power.”
Delilah’s expression turned greedy as she continued.
“Her soul is one of the purest Spiritual Energy Bodies in the world. If I can devour it, my strength will be enough to advance another rank among the Seven Wise Kings, and even…”
The Church Priest before her hesitated briefly due to a passing thought, but then the fact she uttered next made Mi La utterly shocked.
“She might serve as the core sacrifice to activate that thing.”
“An Ancient Magic Artifact that even the Demon King desires—its value is a thousand times greater than the heads of those so-called Hero Party!”
Mi La’s mind went blank. She couldn’t understand it at all.
That black-furred fox who seemed kind of capable and good at cooking had such a big background?
Mi La had always thought… that Fox Spirit was just a slut better at seducing men than she was.
Seeing her sister’s clueless, stupid expression, Delilah really wanted to reinstall her brain’s system right now.
Using her fingertips, she picked a small dandruff flake from Mi La’s messy hair.
Then she injected Mana into it, and the moment that followed opened Mi La’s eyes wide.
Delilah casually threw the scalp flake carrying Mi La’s Memory Fragments into the center of Mi La’s bedroom.
“Buzz!”
The entire room’s scene began to warp.
The wooden floor turned into soft banquet carpet, the bedroom walls became wallpaper adorned with exquisite paintings.
The familiar aroma of food wafted through the air.
It suddenly turned into the scene of that private room in the Antal City hotel.
Then, to Mi La’s horror, she found herself sitting at the dining table where the Hongmen Banquet had been set.
Across the table, Yelena and Yiweite were smiling at her, holding knives and forks as they ate together.
“Miss Mi La, have a little more of this?” The illusory Yelena’s face slowly approached Mi La, her voice sweet.
“Ahhh!”
Mi La was so frightened her PTSD kicked in. She tried to push Yelena away with her hands and feet, but found herself completely unable to move.
“Worthless trash, this is just your memory.”
Delilah’s voice came from beside her.
She leisurely walked up to the illusory Yelena, reached out a hand, and patted the phantom’s head like a pet.
Then the phantom Yelena immediately stopped moving and became a soulless puppet.
“This is a new ability the Demon King graciously bestowed upon me.”
Delilah paced around the dining table, admiring the masterpiece she had created.
“Now, through your memories, I can reproduce the scenes from that time, and even deduce their possible subsequent reactions.”
As Mi La watched, dumbfounded, Delilah snapped her fingers again.
The illusory Yiweite suddenly burst into action, drawing her waist knife and slashing at Yelena beside her.
With a swift chop, the phantom Yelena’s head rolled to the ground.
Blood splattered everywhere.
“No… no!” Mi La squeezed her eyes shut in terror.
“Open your eyes and look closely, my stupid sister.”
Delilah whispered in Mi La’s ear. Mi La parted her fingers to peer through the gap at the crime scene.
“Your biggest mistake was that you never truly understood your prey.”
The illusion before them changed again.
The decapitated Yelena stood back up, completely intact, but her eyes were hollow and sorrowful.
Across from her, Yiweite’s face was full of disgust and Killing Intent.
“Worthless little sister, you actually thought you could defeat her with your pathetic Charm skill?”
Delilah pointed at the illusory Yelena, her face full of disdain.
“What did you take her for? One of those lowly males whose brains are full of lust?”
“She is a living treasure! A miracle that can elevate us to the heavens in one step! And you thought you could overcome her with such a stupid method!”
Delilah’s voice grew louder, and the entire illusion space began to shake and tremble.
“The best way to conquer her is through dreams like this!”
“In the dream, I can brainwash her. Make her believe that the Sword Saint she trusted most had been using her from the very beginning.”
In the next illusion, Yiweite was cursing Yelena with the most venomous words.
“I can also make her watch as the mother she’s been searching for was actually killed by her own hands long ago!”
Within the illusion, a blurry Foxfolk figure with a face similar to Yelena’s turned to ashes as Yelena cried out.
“Then, I can make everyone abandon her, make her feel like the whole world has forsaken her, make her believe she is the most guilty sinner on earth!”
The scene in the illusion changed again. Yelena knelt on the ground, completely spiritually broken, crying loudly.
“At that moment,” Delilah walked to the illusory Yelena’s side, and lightly used her finger to lift her chin, looking at the Foxfolk whose makeup was already ruined by tears.
“All I have to do is reach out to help her, and she’ll obediently walk into the cage I’ve prepared for her, like an abandoned dog.”
“This is professionalism.”
Delilah waved her hand grandly, and all the illusions shattered.
All the previous hallucinations vanished.
Mi La sat dumbly on the bed. She felt like Delilah was now a demon.
This method of completely destroying someone mentally was far more terrifying than any physical torture.
Delilah’s face was full of excitement and fervor.
“As long as I can capture her alive, my position among the Seven Wise Kings will be unshakable, and even the Demon King will personally crown me!”
“From now on, I will handle this prey myself.”
After indulging in that thought alone, she looked back at Mi La on the bed, and her expression changed from fervent back to a cold, calculating mode.
“Alright, my worthless little sister. Tomorrow, you’ll have a chance to redeem yourself~”
Mi La was now a little afraid of Delilah, who had gained new power from the Demon King, so she had to obey her orders.
“Big sister! I’ll do whatever you say!”
“I need some things from you.” Delilah’s tone became gentle, but still methodical.
“A little of your blood, a lock of your hair, and a set of your casual clothes.”
Mi La was confused.
She didn’t know what Delilah was going to make her do next.
Could it be some kind of lewd… punishment ritual?!
But looking at Delilah’s increasingly calm face, she didn’t dare ask, just nodded frantically.
“Yes… big sister…”
Soon, a Demon Race attendant walked in from the hallway.
The attendant took a blood sample from Mi La, a snipped lock of hair, and one of Mi La’s lace dresses.
Delilah let out a sly grin, taking the glass vial of dark red blood from the attendant’s hand.
She toyed with it in her hand for a moment, then handed it back to the attendant.
She spoke with a sneer, her voice not loud, but the whole bedroom fell silent.
“Contact ‘Gravedigger.’ Tell him I need a perfect piece of work.”
“A corpse that can convince those idiots in the Church Knights Order—one that belongs exclusively to ‘Mi La.’”
