The aura emanating from this group of Night Watchmen felt off, full of ill omens.
It seemed that behind the previous Goblin Horde, there really was a greater Behind-the-Scenes Manipulator at work.
And yet, the strongest human Brave in this city had been knocked unconscious by her lesson and couldn’t rise again.
At the same time, she had successfully drawn everyone’s attention.
It was estimated that over 80% of the city’s defensive forces were probably being used to track my movements, right?
Simply stupid.
Being forced to take the blame for others without rhyme or reason.
Vyea felt somewhat heavy-hearted. She hated doing things only to have others reap the benefits behind her back.
“If I’d known it would come to this, why did I bother in the first place.”
She asked softly, “Xiaolu, do you think I was wrong?”
“I don’t know!”
Xiaolu appeared in response.
Ignoring the surrounding black-clad figures who couldn’t see her, she turned to look into Vyea’s emerald eyes and said seriously:
“But even if you could do it all over again, you’d still publicly scold your student, wouldn’t you?”
“…”
Vyea didn’t answer, but her tacit consent said it all.
“Yeye Jie, I don’t know what you went through back then, or what you’ve experienced these past three years to become the way you are now in my eyes. After all, you don’t want to tell me.”
“After all this, why are you still so obsessed with the title of Human Brave…”
Xiaolu’s tone grew mournful. “Yeye Jie, you secretly used your powers during the match with your student just now, didn’t you?”
Vyea still didn’t answer. After all, cheating wasn’t honorable. It was even less honorable for a teacher to cheat behind her student’s back.
She simply held her umbrella and quietly watched those black-clad Night Watchmen whose expressions turned abnormal.
The Night Watchmen couldn’t see or hear Xiaolu.
To them, she was probably a lunatic who came out in the dead of night talking to herself and kicking people.
Under these circumstances, Vyea was surprised at how clear-headed she felt.
“Yeye Jie, you only secretly used a little bit of your power, and your body that barely grew has shrunk another round.”
Xiaolu’s tone became urgent, faintly on the verge of tears. “Using a monstergirl’s body to wield Brave power comes at a cost, right? Overuse would turn you into some limited-edition figure on a store shelf, wouldn’t it?”
“Don’t talk nonsense. Once you reach a certain limit, the body won’t shrink any further,” Vyea said coldly. “Being smaller makes moving easier.”
One day, she would firmly stand her ground in human society again and personally investigate Demon King Flavail’s matters.
Deep down, Vyea always had a thorn lodged in her heart.
Come to think of it, Flavail had been lurking beside her for so long, and in the end, even slept in the same bed as her.
After all this time, she hadn’t sensed or suspected anything.
Under normal circumstances, a guardless Vyea should have been easily taken advantage of by the Demon King.
Yet the one who lost everything and was utterly defeated in the end was the Demon King herself.
“Hey!”
The group of Night Watchmen closing in grew wary. The Monster Tide had already ended, and they didn’t want trouble when their shift was over.
This little brat in white definitely wasn’t normal!
Out at this hour, not sleeping and alone on the streets just after the Monster Tide subsided.
And the moment they met, she kicked one of their teammates flying. Though the teammate’s tone wasn’t good, that still wasn’t a reason to attack security personnel!
By the usual rules, they were supposed to restrain this brat and take her back to the Detainee Center for a good lesson, locking her up for a few days to see if she’d behave.
Just because you’re strong doesn’t mean you’re impressive.
The lead Night Watchman wore a thin black rubber raincoat, his face cold and stern, with sharp, hawk-like gray-black eyes. One hand held a lamp, the other gripped a police baton.
He demanded sternly, “Who were you just talking to?!”
“Hm?”
Vyea, who had been communicating with Xiaolu, snapped back to reality, blinking as she looked at the Night Watchman approaching slowly. Her tone held a hint of apology:
“Sorry for injuring one of your teammates earlier. But I controlled my strength—he won’t be seriously hurt.”
After explaining, Vyea continued calmly, “I have no… hostility towards you.”
Suddenly,
The lazy look in Vyea’s eyes sharpened as she became serious, cautiously scanning her surroundings.
The golden Rain of Genesis was gradually fading, signaling the end of the super-tier spell.
Once the rain stopped, the unrestrained Behind-the-Scenes Manipulator would surely begin to move.
Noticing the girl’s unusual behavior, the Night Watchmen all looked around as well.
They suddenly realized the whole street was eerily silent. Except for the sound of wind and rain, there was almost no other noise.
So quiet it was unsettling.
The lead Night Watchman only followed Vyea’s gaze briefly, found nothing unusual, then retracted his eyes.
“If you bear no hostility towards us, then obediently come with us to lie down in the Detainee Center. Our shift just ended, so it’s on the way.”
“Not on the way.”
Vyea shook her head, meeting the Night Watchman’s hawk-like sharp gaze as she began calmly lying:
“I was talking to the Arbitration Office just now. They told me there’s a mastermind behind this Goblin siege incident. I needed to confirm your operational status.”
In an instant, the power dynamic was completely reversed.
But the lead Night Watchman didn’t believe her for a second. He sneered mockingly:
“Why should I believe you? How do I know you’re not lying?”
The Night Watchmen laughed derisively, eager to pin this brat down and make a name for themselves.
Snap!
Vyea snapped her fingers. A massive gravitational force pressed down on the surrounding black-clad men, pinning them to the ground, unable to move.
The Night Watchmen, instantly stripped of all resistance, were terrified.
“You’re not qualified to stand before me. Don’t struggle. Lie still and tell me what you’ve seen and heard.”
Hypnosis!
Holding her umbrella, Vyea slowly crouched, looking down at the Night Watchmen sprawled in the mud, faces full of panic and shock.
“I didn’t know the Lord would visit so suddenly,” the pinned leader pounded his head on the ground in fear, “But I really don’t know who the mastermind behind this is!”
“Think carefully again,” Vyea gently guided, “For example, is your squad the only one responsible for this area?”
