Winter nights came early, and after dark, the campus streetlights flickered on one by one.
Still, the paths through the woods remained dim.
The two walked side by side along the shadowy trail in silence.
Su Yao, standing only as tall as Mu Nanqiu’s nose and bundled up thickly, looked like a little dumpling next to her.
To keep pace, Mu Nanqiu adjusted her stride to match Su Yao’s.
The school had plenty of greenery, with each zone separated by strips of landscaping.
From the cafeteria to the meeting room building, one could take the main road, but that main thoroughfare connecting the teaching buildings and dormitories was always crowded.
So Su Yao and Mu Nanqiu chose a quieter route, circling behind the cafeteria.
Though a bit longer, it was much more peaceful—perfect for a post-meal stroll.
Along the way, apart from a few students jogging to make up their sports credits, there were only one or two others out for a walk like them.
Through the faint nightfall, Su Yao caught sight of a pair of girls disappearing deeper into the woods.
She wasn’t sure what they were up to.
As the shadows swallowed the figures, Su Yao shifted her gaze to the person beside her, sneaking glances in the dark, and couldn’t help but sigh.
So beautiful!
The quiet atmosphere stirred wandering thoughts, especially when walking with a stunning woman—it was easy for the mind to drift to all kinds of things.
Su Yao had fantasized about pretty girls before, but usually only about fictional ones.
Now, with this beautiful senior right beside her and the cover of night making things easier, her heart was inevitably stirred.
Biting her thin lips lightly, she curled her hand inside her sleeve and clenched it tighter.
Suddenly, she felt her hand enveloped by something warm and soft.
Mu Nanqiu gently squeezed Su Yao’s soft little hand.
When the clenched fist relaxed, she took the chance to entwine their fingers tightly, not giving Su Yao any room to pull away.
Su Yao’s little heart thumped loudly.
Her head felt light, and the warm touch on her hand carried a faint scent.
Her ears flushed hot.
They walked on in silence.
Some people just end up holding hands.
When they reached the narrow corridor by the meeting room for the second time, a faint cool breeze still blew as usual.
At this point, Su Yao felt a bit hesitant.
When alone in private, she could talk with Mu Nanqiu, even hold hands, but if someone were watching, she wouldn’t dare.
Still, since they were here, Su Yao decided to brave it out and accompany her senior.
With firm resolve, she let Mu Nanqiu lead her to the door marked “Third Meeting Room.”
Su Yao looked at the locked door, then at Mu Nanqiu, puzzled.
Wasn’t this supposed to be a rehearsal?
Why was the door locked?
There was no sound inside…
Thinking it over, she realized it was still quite early, so probably no one had arrived yet, hence the locked door.
Understanding this, Su Yao raised her head to look at Mu Nanqiu.
Mu Nanqiu smiled at her, then pulled out a set of keys from her pocket and inserted one into the slightly rusted lock.
With a click, the lock turned.
Mu Nanqiu pushed the door open halfway and said to Su Yao,
“Yaoyao, go on inside.”
“Ah, okay!”
Without hesitation, Su Yao stepped in.
Her senior wouldn’t hurt her, right?
Of course not!
Inside was pitch black, with not a hint of light.
Su Yao turned to ask about the lights, only to see Mu Nanqiu close the door behind her and lock it.
The two faced each other in the dark.
Swallowing hard, Su Yao panicked slightly, her voice trembling.
“Um… Nanqiu, what’s going on? Why lock the door?”
Her senior… wouldn’t do anything to her, right? Right?
“It’s nothing.”
Mu Nanqiu’s answer was brief.
After replying, she pocketed the keys and pulled out her phone, turning on the flashlight.
Su Yao, just getting used to the dim environment, was startled by the sudden brightness, instinctively shielding her eyes.
When she looked back, Mu Nanqiu had already passed by her, heading down the stairs.
“Yaoyao, follow me.”
“Mm…”
Su Yao hesitated a moment but chose to follow.
They descended one after the other to the bottom.
Mu Nanqiu moved confidently to the red curtain, and with a crisp click of a circuit breaker,
Two small lights on the stage flickered on.
Though faint and only illuminating a small patch on the podium, there was light at last.
Mu Nanqiu stepped out and smiled at Su Yao.
“Help me with a little favor.”
“Okay!”
Hearing that her senior needed help, Su Yao immediately perked up and followed her onto the stage.
Beyond the red curtain, she saw an old piano.
Mu Nanqiu walked over and released the clamp on the piano’s caster.
Su Yao quickly understood what was needed and rushed to help push the piano.
It took some effort, but they managed to move it to the center of the stage.
Su Yao still wasn’t clear on what Mu Nanqiu planned.
Seeing the doubt in Su Yao’s eyes, Mu Nanqiu explained,
“This is the rehearsal.”
“Huh?”
Seeing Su Yao still confused, Mu Nanqiu grinned mischievously.
“It’s a rehearsal just for me.”
With that, Mu Nanqiu took off her coat and tossed it toward Su Yao.
Caught off guard, Su Yao didn’t catch it—the fluffy coat landed over her head.
The richer scent on the coat made Su Yao’s heart flutter.
If she weren’t afraid of being labeled a pervert, she’d bury her face in the coat and take a deep breath.
Mu Nanqiu had already seated herself at the piano, sitting upright.
She wore only a thin off-white knit sweater and a light gray long skirt.
Her hair was neatly pinned up, radiating elegant and noble poise.
In Su Yao’s eyes, Mu Nanqiu now seemed bathed in a gentle glow.
Watching, Su Yao’s gaze inevitably drifted down to those two glossy, cherry-red lips.
Slender, delicate hands tapped the piano keys, and a melodious sound instantly filled Su Yao’s ears, making her feel as if it wasn’t the piano being struck, but her own little heart.
Mu Nanqiu turned to look at her then, eyes warm, softly saying,
“Don’t mind keeping me company tonight, do you?”
“Of course not! I could come every day!”
At those words, even if she were foolish, Su Yao understood.
Her senior had borrowed her here to keep her company during practice.
Haha, I’m so smart!
Unable to hold back the smile on her face, Su Yao grinned foolishly at Mu Nanqiu.
Mu Nanqiu looked a little plaintive.
She wondered if Yaoyao’s little head really had no mischievous thoughts at all?
Such a big place, just the two of them, with all the keys in her hands.
No one usually came here; the cameras had been removed.
Doing something a little improper here wouldn’t be a big deal…
