Chapter 5: It’s natural to be unpopular, right?

“Come sit over here.”

Ning Wan patted the spot beside her on the sofa, looking casual and easygoing.

After everything that had happened during the day, Lu Weizhu didn’t dare to let down her guard.

Cautiously, she scooted over and sat down next to Ning Wan.

Her body was tense, her whole demeanor a little stiff.

Ning Wan didn’t say anything more.

She took out her phone and ordered takeout. 

While waiting for the food to arrive, she and Lu Weizhu sat in silence.

She hadn’t been back to this Villa for years. 

Even though someone came to maintain and clean it regularly, there wasn’t much food at home.

While waiting for the takeout, Ning Wan wondered what she could have Lu Weizhu do.

Shifting her position, she wrapped one arm around Lu Weizhu’s back and pulled her in by the waist.

The girl’s body trembled, but she didn’t try to escape.

“At least you know your place.”

Ning Wan nodded, tightening her grip and pulling Lu Weizhu even closer.

Lu Weizhu was so thin that Ning Wan could almost feel her bones through her waist.

Frowning slightly, she let Lu Weizhu lean against her shoulder.

“Miss Ning?”

Lu Weizhu was a little confused. 

She didn’t understand what Ning Wan wanted.

Ning Wan didn’t reply, just kept holding Lu Weizhu.

The person in her arms looked eighty percent like herself—and was also her girlfriend’s kept lover.

The feeling was truly strange. 

Ning Wan could sense both the thrill of crossing a line and the satisfaction of getting revenge on her girlfriend. 

“Miss Ning?”

Biting her lip and enduring the itch around her waist, Lu Weizhu softly called Ning Wan’s name again.

“Hiss!”

Still getting no answer, Lu Weizhu was met with a sharp, unbearable pain. 

Ning Wan had twisted the soft flesh at her waist hard.

The pale skin quickly turned blue, and Lu Weizhu bit her lip until it bled again.

“Don’t make a fuss.”

With a casual warning, Ning Wan placed Lu Weizhu on her lap, facing her.

Lu Weizhu was a little shorter than Ning Wan. 

Sitting in her lap didn’t look out of place, but the White Dress she wore looked cheap, and the fabric made Ning Wan uncomfortable.

Falling silent, Ning Wan studied the details of Lu Weizhu’s face.

The red marks had mostly faded, and the clean little face looked more and more like her own.

Who told her to look so much like me?

The question suddenly popped up. 

Ning Wan grabbed four or five strands of silky, white hair.

She twirled the strands around her finger again and again. 

Under Lu Weizhu’s increasingly puzzled gaze, Ning Wan gave a hard pull.

“Ugh!?”

Her hair was yanked out, and Lu Weizhu cried out in pain, her head dropping down as her hands instinctively clenched, nails digging into her skin.

A faint scent of blood lingered in the air, but it was so light it was almost nothing.

Uninterested, Ning Wan pushed Lu Weizhu out of her arms.

“Miss Ning?”

Lu Weizhu fell to the floor, her back hitting the coffee table, and a dull ache radiated outwards.

The pain she’d felt today was more than everything she’d experienced in the past few months combined.

Lu Weizhu’s nose stung. 

What had she done wrong? 

Hadn’t she done nothing at all?

“Don’t give me that pitiful look.”

Ning Wan curled her lip. 

She’d always disliked people pretending to be weak.

Watching someone else suffer could be amusing, but Ning Wan still felt something was missing.

“What did you used to do for Bai Lu?”

Ning Wan started asking about Lu Weizhu’s time with Bai Lu.

“Dele…”

Lu Weizhu couldn’t answer. In truth, what could she do? 

She was just a docile pillow princess.

Unable to explain, Lu Weizhu held her breath.

The awkward atmosphere lingered for a while.

“Ugh, useless.”

Ning Wan looked at Lu Weizhu with even more disdain, crossing her legs.

She’d already figured out Lu Weizhu’s role.

“Go get the Slippers from the Shoe Cabinet and put them on me.”

Ning Wan pointed at the Shoe Cabinet not far away.

Lu Weizhu lowered her head, about to get up, but Ning Wan interrupted her.

“Crawl over.”

The humiliation was blatant, and Lu Weizhu couldn’t refuse.

“I understand…”

With a heavy heart, Lu Weizhu couldn’t stand up.

She got on her knees and moved forward inch by inch.

She took out a pair of Slippers from the Shoe Cabinet, shuffled her way back to Ning Wan, trembling all the while.

She was dressed thinly, and her knees rubbed painfully against the hard floor.

Back in front of Ning Wan, Lu Weizhu helped her take off her Sports Shoes and White Socks, then put the Slippers on her.

Looking up at Ning Wan, seeing her proud face, Lu Weizhu felt her nose sting.

“Am I really that fragile?”

She silently asked herself in her heart.

Ning Wan had no idea what Lu Weizhu was thinking. 

She just saw the sadness on Lu Weizhu’s face.

She only found it funny.

“For money, you chose to come along. What’s there to be sad about? Wanting both ways—don’t you know how stupid you are?”

With undisguised contempt, Ning Wan kicked Lu Weizhu over.

“………”

Lost for words, not knowing what to say, Lu Weizhu resented herself even more inside.

Why was she so useless? 

She couldn’t even speak properly.

Her eyes stung, and Lu Weizhu lowered her head, not daring to let Ning Wan see her face.

“Hmm…? The takeout’s here. I’ll deal with you later.”

Glancing at the girl slumped on the floor, Ning Wan got up to get the takeout.

She’d only ordered one serving of Covered Rice for herself, one Milk Tea, and a box of Latex Finger Cots.

Returning to the sofa, she ate dinner right in front of Lu Weizhu.

Deliberately chewing loudly, Ning Wan watched Lu Weizhu out of the corner of her eye.

“……”

Lu Weizhu swallowed hard.

She hadn’t eaten all day.

Her stomach twisted in pain. Lu Weizhu actually had a serious Stomach Disease, but it was still manageable and hadn’t turned into Cancer.

She lowered her head even further, trying her best not to make a sound, afraid of upsetting Ning Wan.

But coming to the home of someone who hated her—making the owner happy was already impossible.

Ning Wan opened the Milk Tea and poured the whole cup down from above.

Clothes stuck to skin, and the warm, sticky liquid ran down her skin and hair. 

Lu Weizhu was soaked like a drowned rat.

Lu Weizhu raised her head and stared hard at Ning Wan.

“Miss Ning, if you hate me so much, why did you bring me with you?”

She couldn’t throw a tantrum; she could only ask the question she was curious about as patiently as she could.

The warm liquid slid down her cheek—was it tears or Milk Tea? 

Lu Weizhu couldn’t tell.

“Hmm? Because I hate you, I want to humiliate you. Is that so hard to understand?”

Ning Wan smiled, tossing the Milk Tea cup aside.

“I promised you so much money—did you really think your job would be easy? There’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world.”

Ning Wan shrugged.

After eating half the Covered Rice, Ning Wan stood up.

She put on the Latex Finger Cots, grabbed Lu Weizhu by the shoulder, and yanked her to her feet.

“All right, I’m full. Time to get down to business, Mistress.”

With a wicked grin, Ning Wan dragged Lu Weizhu to the bedroom.
