Hui Mei: ‘This person…’
Though the other party wore a kind smile, Hui Mei instinctively sensed something off.
It was a predator’s gaze—bone-chilling and unnerving.
And whether it was her imagination or not, that gaze seemed fixed on the sleeping Nuo Ai’er in her arms.
‘Big Sister is so pretty, it’s only natural she’d be targeted.’
Hui Mei chose to trust her instincts.
But she wasn’t stupid. If the woman really had ill intentions, suddenly showing wariness would only provoke immediate action.
In this unfamiliar street, especially with Big Sister sleeping beside her, she couldn’t take that risk.
Better to play along for now and see what the woman was up to.
So Hui Mei forced a naive, innocent smile and nodded, pretending to go along with Camilla’s words.
“What’s the matter, miss?” Hui Mei asked.
“Little girl, are you two out here alone?” Camilla asked with a smile, but the strange question completely exposed her intent.
She was confirming whether there were others around.
“No, my big sister and I are just resting here. We have other friends too, over that way.”
Hui Mei casually pointed toward a crowded area.
‘There are others, huh… Well, then I’ll have to finish this quickly.’
Camilla thought to herself as she slowly approached, her hand clad in a black lace glove reaching straight for Nuo Ai’er.
Just as her fingers were about to touch Nuo Ai’er’s cheek, Hui Mei moved.
“You! You really were after Big Sister Nuo Ai’er!”
A glint of ferocity flashed in Hui Mei’s eyes. Without hesitation, she raised her hand and activated the talent she had just obtained.
Several strands of red thread, condensed from magical energy, shot out from her sleeve and, with lightning speed, bound Camilla’s hands and body tightly.
“Who are you?!”
Hui Mei knew nothing about this world.
But even so, she would do everything in her power to eliminate any malice toward Big Sister Nuo Ai’er.
“Hehe, interesting talent…”
Faced with being bound, Camilla only chuckled, her eyes full of contempt.
“But little girl, your toy doesn’t seem very sturdy.”
As her words fell, a black-clothed puppet exuding black mist drew a blade from the shadows behind her.
A flash of steel—swish, swish—and the red thread binding Camilla was instantly cut.
“Wah!”
Hui Mei was startled by the sudden appearance of the black-clothed figure.
‘Does everyone in this world have special abilities?’
‘This ability looks way more useful than my crappy string… (annoyed)’
But Hui Mei reacted extremely quickly.
The priority wasn’t fighting this purple-haired miss—it was protecting Big Sister Nuo Ai’er!
“Run, run!”
She hugged Nuo Ai’er tighter and turned to dash down the other end of the street.
“Trying to run?”
Camilla snorted coldly and waved her hand.
“Stop them.”
The black-clothed puppet instantly transformed into a black shadow and blocked Hui Mei’s path.
“Eep—”
Hui Mei clutched Nuo Ai’er tightly.
A puppet in front, Camilla behind, and Nuo Ai’er in her arms—there was no escape.
Hui Mei gritted her teeth.
‘Is this it…? I have no choice but to fight to the death…’
But at that critical moment—
“Awooooo—!”
A piercing wolf howl echoed from the sky.
A massive silver wolf soul came charging in from the side at high speed.
“What… a wolf? Aaah—”
The wolf soul slammed into Camilla, sending her flying.
Then, midair, the wolf soul twisted, its sharp claws sweeping down, cleaving the two black-clothed puppets blocking Hui Mei in two.
With a muffled thud, the puppets dissolved into black smoke.
“Pwah—!”
Camilla, struck head-on by the wolf soul and then suffering backlash from her puppets’ destruction, coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Her entire body crashed heavily against the wall in the distance.
“Awoo.”
The wolf soul let out a low growl, then dissolved into specks of silver light and vanished.
“Found you…”
A figure in a red hooded cloak quickly approached from the end of the street.
It was Leinata.
That terrifying wolf soul just now was Little Grey from the forest, now accompanying Leinata in this world in this form.
Of course, its power had increased considerably.
“Don’t run so fast—!”
Behind her, a panting Emilia caught up.
Though her physical condition wasn’t bad, it wasn’t as monstrous as Leinata’s—Leinata had been sprinting at full speed, almost like a wolf.
Oh wait, she really was a wolf.
“Phew… Good thing this young lady has plenty of points. I spent 10 points to buy a player locator card, and that’s how I found Nuo Ai’er’s position… Looks like nothing serious happened.”
Emilia patted her chest and let out a long sigh of relief.
Leinata ignored Emilia. She walked straight up to Hui Mei, her gaze fixed on Nuo Ai’er in Hui Mei’s arms. After confirming Nuo Ai’er was unharmed, her expressionless, pale little face instantly clouded over.
“What happened? Explain.”
Leinata’s face was blank, her tone flat.
But her voice carried a terrifying murderous intent. “Who took Nuo Ai’er?”
“Ah… Xiao Hong Mao?”
Hui Mei didn’t recognize this furious golden-haired girl. (Though she looked a lot like the Little Red Riding Hood Hui Mei had seen in fairy tales…)
But judging by her reaction, Nuo Ai’er must be extremely important to her.
Hui Mei wasn’t stupid. If she admitted right now that she had tied Nuo Ai’er up with red thread and brought her out, she’d probably be chopped into mincemeat in seconds. (Scared)
So Hui Mei took a deep breath, forced tears to her eyes, and her eyelids instantly turned red.
“Boo-hoo… I’m so glad you’re here!”
Hui Mei suddenly started sobbing and hugged Emilia’s thigh.
“Huh?”
The young miss was caught off guard by this.
“Don’t cry. Tell us clearly—what happened?” Emilia said instinctively.
“I-I was sleeping, and then suddenly I got kidnapped with Big Sister Nuo Ai’er by this purple-haired miss! She was so scary, she even tried to hurt Big Sister Nuo Ai’er! Boo-hoo—”
After saying that, Hui Mei wiped her tears and pointed at Camilla, who was lying on the ground.
“Uh… huh?”
Camilla lifted her head, completely bewildered.
‘Huh? She just happened to pass by here.’
‘I thought I was lucky to run into Nuo Ai’er while out shopping—how did I become the kidnapper?’
“So it was you.”
The red-hooded girl, now radiating black mist, advanced toward Camilla step by step, a small knife in hand.
The blade was enveloped in a crimson magical power, and all that killing intent was directed at Camilla.
Camilla: “?! Wait—just wait!”
