The next morning.
Ian woke up early, today being the first day he’d promised to help Chiye at the Starry Dream Café as a maid.
“Sigh,” Ian let out a sigh in front of the mirror in his bedroom.
If I had a choice, I wouldn’t use Iana’s identity.
After the sigh, a red light flashed over Ian’s body. In the blink of an eye, the black-haired boy vanished, replaced by a petite Dragon Clan loli.
After concealing her Dragon Clan traits, Iana headed toward the address Chiye had sent her.
When she reached the Starry Dream Café and pushed open the door, sweet voices rang out from both sides.
“Welcome home, Master.”
The lively maid on the left, dressed in a yellow-and-white maid outfit, looked at Iana’s appearance and said in surprise, “Why is this Master so small?”
“Go back home, little one. This isn’t a place for kids.”
Hearing this, Iana’s forehead twitched with dark lines. Her childish voice retorted, “You’re the kid. I’m already an adult.”
Despite her words, the maid still seemed skeptical but, to be safe, approached Iana and asked, “Do you have any ID to prove you’re an adult?”
Iana, visibly annoyed, handed over her Student ID. “I’m an adult, and a second-year student at Saint Roland Magic Academy.”
Seeing Iana’s ID, the two maids apologized. “Sorry, Master, that was our mistake.”
Iana didn’t make a fuss and walked straight into the Starry Dream Café.
She wandered around the café but couldn’t find Chiye.
“She said she’d come meet me. Where’d Chiye run off to?” Iana muttered to herself, a bit displeased.
“So cute! Look at that girl over there,” Veronica said, pointing at Iana from a chair in the café. “She feels kind of familiar.”
Ethelrina, sitting across from her, responded expressionlessly, “You like that type of girl?”
“No, I just think she’s cute, nothing more,” Veronica said awkwardly.
Ethelrina then sized Iana up, her gaze lingering on her chest.
I don’t know why Veronica and Ethelrina are here, but I really don’t want to be seen by people I know, Iana thought, feeling uneasy under Ethelrina’s stare but pretending not to notice.
If Veronica and the others recognize me, I might as well not live in this world anymore.
“Iana, you’re here!”
Iana turned to see Chiye behind her, wearing a black-and-white maid outfit, the skirt swaying gently with her steps, and a cute black lace headband on her head.
“Sorry, I was too busy to come meet you outside. Let’s go to the manager to handle your onboarding,” Chiye said.
Iana didn’t dwell on why Veronica and Ethelrina were there and followed Chiye toward the manager’s office.
Unbeknownst to Iana, as she left, Veronica and Ethelrina both stared intently at her back.
In the staff break room of the Starry Dream Café.
“Is this the friend you mentioned who’s applying?” A tall, sultry manager with gold-rimmed glasses and a partially exposed bust sized up Iana.
“Yes,” Chiye confirmed.
The manager said casually, “Her looks are decent. Some customers will probably like her type.”
With that, the manager handed Iana a document. “If you want to work here as a maid, sign this.”
Iana reviewed the document, found no obvious issues, and signed her name.
After signing, the manager handed Iana a pink-and-white maid outfit. “Go change in there.”
When Iana opened the changing room door, she was startled to see two people who shouldn’t be there: Yiserin and Lillian.
Yiserin, seeing Iana’s plain shirt, approached with dissatisfaction. “Why are you dressed so plainly? Come on, hurry and put on that maid outfit.”
She even reached out to start changing Iana’s clothes herself.
“Why are you two here?” Iana asked.
“Chiye was too busy, so Lillian and I came to help out,” Yiserin explained, her hands still moving to dress Iana.
Iana swatted away Yiserin’s restless hands and looked at them. “You and Lillian know each other?”
“We’re classmates. How could we not know each other?” Yiserin said. “Lillian, let me introduce you. This is our team’s substitute member, Iana.”
Hearing Yiserin’s introduction, Lillian stepped forward. “Hi, I’m Lillian.”
“Hi, I’m Iana,” Iana replied.
Suddenly, Chiye’s voice called from outside. “Iana, have you changed yet? Someone specifically requested you.”
Iana found it odd. I just started today. How could someone already request me? She said to the door, “I haven’t even been trained yet. Can I really serve customers now?”
“Don’t worry, I’ll go with you,” Chiye reassured.
After a while, Iana changed into the maid outfit, tugging uncomfortably at the skirt. The pink-and-white outfit was far more elaborate than she’d imagined.
Layers of lace frills, a fluffy skirt, and even a pair of small cat-ear headbands.
Staring at herself in the mirror, she muttered, “This is way too much.”
Iana pushed open the door, and Chiye, waiting outside, lit up upon seeing her. “It suits you even better than I expected.”
Iana turned her head, not wanting Chiye to see her face reddening from embarrassment.
“Didn’t you say a customer requested me? Let’s go before they get impatient,” Iana said.
Chiye led Iana toward the main hall of the café.
When Iana saw who had requested her, a chill ran down her spine. It’s the two people I least wanted to face.
Iana froze, staring at Veronica and Ethelrina, only snapping out of it when Chiye nudged her.
She stepped forward, gave a slight bow, and said in the sweetest voice she could muster, “What can I do for you two?”
“You should call us Master,” Veronica said with a smile, correcting Iana’s words.
