Classroom.
The first ray of morning sunlight spilled into the classroom, resting on the seats.
A man dressed neatly sat in a chair with an expression of apparent ease, his hands hanging loosely by his sides.
Following the line of his drooping hands upward, one could see the blurred flesh beneath the tattered clothes on his chest.
Blood oozed from the corner of the man’s mouth, now congealed on his face.
The cold corpse still bore a faint, rigid smile, as if he had witnessed something beautiful before death.
At the door, a hand pushed the classroom door open.
When it opened halfway, the figure inside gasped sharply at the sight.
Then, the door quietly closed.
. . .
Dormitory.
Restroom.
“Morning, desk mate.”
Shen Mosi trailed behind Xunian, drowsy and barely awake.
Xunian paid her no mind, picking up the toiletries prepared for them and starting to wash up.
Shen Mosi, like a boneless doll, leaned softly against her back, resting her chin on Xunian’s shoulder and lazily venting, “So sleepy… don’t wanna go to school~”
Shen Mosi had spent the whole night trying to find the person from Xunian’s dream in her memories but failed.
Forgetting she was still a mortal, she eventually drifted off to sleep.
Xunian shoved a toothbrush into her mouth, “Even if you don’t want to, you have to go.”
After they finished washing up, they headed to the classroom door and happened to run into Yuan Shen and Qi Dong.
“Morning.”
Yuan Shen greeted them.
Xunian nodded in return.
By sheer coincidence, Qi Ye was walking over from nearby, forcing a dry laugh, “Hahahahaha what a coincidence hahahaha.”
Just as he was about to reach the group, he tripped awkwardly, stumbling face-first onto the ground.
Xunian sensed something was off about him.
Without thinking much, she opened the door.
The dead man lay inside, blood seeping from his chest like a blooming flower—vivid and striking.
Xunian’s step to enter faltered.
“What’s wrong, desk mate?”
Shen Mosi peeked inside curiously and let out a startled cry, “Ah!”
She immediately ducked into Xunian’s embrace.
Her voice was calm rather than shocked; Xunian noticed this detail, glanced at her without pushing her away, and allowed her to cling to her.
