Mu Nanqiu had been waiting for Su Yao at their usual spot for quite some time already.
Feeling somewhat bored, she kept glancing at the time on her phone.
The road near the parking lot was very quiet at night.
Aside from the occasional vehicle passing by, hardly anyone walked this way.
So when she saw a blurred figure in the distance along the path, Mu Nanqiu immediately recognized it as Su Yao.
Su Yao’s legs weren’t very long, so she had to quicken her pace, trying to reach Mu Nanqiu as fast as she could.
But afraid that running would make her look awkward and embarrassing, she forced herself to restrain her speed.
Mu Nanqiu turned on the car lights and pushed the door open.
Standing by the door, she watched Su Yao draw closer.
The somewhat bulky black down jacket and loose jeans completely covered her body, leaving only a small patch of tender fair skin visible on her face and hands.
At the sleeve cuff, a pale white finger peeked out, tightly gripping the edge of a brown file folder, which she hugged close as she trotted over to Mu Nanqiu.
When no one else was around, Su Yao would remove the stifling, oppressive hat herself, letting her long black hair fall freely.
Her long bangs partially shaded her eyes, and half of her small face was hidden behind a red scarf.
Because of their height difference, Su Yao had to lift her head slightly, looking up at Mu Nanqiu.
Her big, bright eyes fluttered like stars shimmering.
At this moment, Mu Nanqiu should have opened her arms, pulled the adorable girl into her embrace, and planted a few kisses, indulging in some tender affection!
But she held back her impulse, suppressing the desire that Su Yao had stirred within her.
Then she spoke softly.
“Get in the car.”
“Okay!”
Su Yao nodded vigorously, then, as if she knew the routine well, walked to the front passenger side, opened the door, and got in.
But when she noticed Mu Nanqiu was still standing outside, she felt a little strange.
Still, Mu Nanqiu must have her reasons, she thought, and didn’t dwell on it.
After taking a few breaths of cold air outside, Mu Nanqiu finally calmed down.
She sat back in the car, started the engine, and once the car had passed through the school gate, she glanced at the brown paper bag in Su Yao’s arms.
Though curious, she didn’t ask about it.
Neither spoke along the way.
Su Yao occasionally stole glances at Mu Nanqiu, who, in turn, openly looked back.
When they reached the entrance of Su Yao’s residential community, Su Yao hurriedly said, “Senior, you can stop here.”
“Alright.”
Hearing Mu Nanqiu’s agreement, Su Yao reached out to open the door, but found it still locked.
She had to turn toward Mu Nanqiu, eyes full of questions.
Mu Nanqiu happened to be looking at her then; their gazes met, and Su Yao quickly looked away, puzzled.
“Senior?”
“You still call me senior?” Mu Nanqiu squinted slightly, her expression deep.
“Umm… then what should I call you?”
Su Yao’s cheeks flushed pink as she timidly and softly asked Mu Nanqiu.
Not daring to decide for herself, she handed over the right to choose, and Mu Nanqiu smiled lightly.
“Just call me by my name for now.”
“Nanqiu?”
Su Yao lifted her head and asked with her eyes if the name was acceptable.
Mu Nanqiu nodded.
“Say it once more for me.”
“Nanqiu.”
Su Yao obediently indulged her, and satisfied, Mu Nanqiu unlocked the car door with a click.
Su Yao turned and pushed the door open, stepping out.
Before she left, Mu Nanqiu called after her.
“If there’s anything, remember to tell me. Maybe I can help.”
“Okay.”
“Today’s the 21st. Next month is the 21st, too. We agreed on a month’s time. Don’t forget.”
“Got it!”
Su Yao felt warmth in her heart at Mu Nanqiu’s words, replied, then waved goodbye as she headed into the community.
Mu Nanqiu watched Su Yao’s lively steps—three or four small jumps with every few strides—until she disappeared from sight.
Only then did she withdraw her gaze and reach into her coat pocket.
Suddenly, she smiled, stretched lazily, and let out a long breath.
Back home, after locking the door and slipping on her fuzzy slippers, Su Yao found it hard to contain her excitement.
She tossed the file folder onto the coffee table and flopped onto the soft, comfortable sofa, lying back to stare at the ceiling with a silly grin and a vacant look.
The changes today shocked Su Yao almost as much as when she first transformed into a woman.
Her first impression of Mu Nanqiu had come from an online post—Highborn Young Lady, Iceberg Beauty, like a Flower on a High Peak, radiating an aura that kept strangers at bay.
All these label impressions stemmed from that post.
But after several recent interactions, Su Yao clearly felt Mu Nanqiu was quite different from the online image, and unlike what others said about her.
Su Yao flipped through her phone and finally found the post on the School Forum.
She left a comment underneath.
LoveWatchingBigWhiteBun: Who says Senior Nanqiu is cold? Make her come out here (shout)!
Senior is actually very gentle!
Before she could exit the app, several messages came in.
Su Yao opened the private messages and sure enough, they were full of sarcasm and even outright ridicule.
The most representative ones were:
“Hehe, who even are you?”
“Goddess of the Liberal Arts College? You think you can talk about her?”
“Look at this ID, not a good person. Don’t hang around this barbershop!”
“Get lost! Get lost!”
“Admin! Where’s the admin? Come quick, kick this person out for me!”
Su Yao’s mouth twitched into a cold smile. “Who am I? I’m already in the internship phase with Mu Nanqiu, who do you think I am?”
LoveWatchingBigWhiteBun: Hmph~ (nose looking at people.jpg)
She didn’t reply to these messages, only leaving a sticker before exiting the forum.
People who troll these goddess posts usually don’t have girlfriends anyway.
Su Yao was different now; she was on a whole other level!
After the phone screen went dark, Su Yao sat up from the sofa.
She knew that now, with Mu Nanqiu, they were only in the trial period, but trial was better than being strangers!
Looking at the brown paper file folder on the coffee table, Su Yao murmured,
“Six thousand…”
If she performed on the first of the month, she could earn six thousand yuan.
It was very difficult, but if it were three thousand, Su Yao believed she had the ability.
With years of writing experience, she was definitely stronger than those who had only written application essays.
Su Yao firmly believed she was talented—just an unpolished jade for now—but one day, she would shine brilliantly.
She’d start with this script.
But first, she needed to wash up.
She had sweated a lot today, so next up was bath time!
