Lyra’s combat instincts and her knowledge of human weaknesses had reached a terrifying level!
Raymond’s expression changed drastically!
He had never expected this seemingly petite girl to possess such frightening speed and vision, nor for her attack angles to be so cunning and ruthless.
He wanted to pull back his fist to defend, but having swung with his full strength, his momentum was spent.
How could he possibly react in time?
Just as Lyra’s fingertips were about to touch Raymond’s body —
“FREEZE.”
A calm and clear syllable, like cold spring water, instantly flowed through the entire classroom.
Professor Mabel had raised her hand at some unknown moment, a speck of silver-white light flickering at her fingertip.
Time seemed to stagnate for a heartbeat. Lyra’s lightning-fast strike stopped dead just 1 inch away from Raymond’s body!
She had not stopped on her own; it was as if she had slammed into an invisible, intangible, yet indestructible wall.
She was imprisoned in place by a gentle but irresistible force. Even the faint red aura on her fingertips quietly extinguished like a candle in the wind.
At the same time, Raymond’s fist, crackling with violent lightning, froze less than 3 inches from the tip of Lyra’s nose.
The electric snakes on his knuckles seemed frozen in time, flickering with a stagnant glow.
Spatial Imprisonment Magic!
Furthermore, it was an instant-cast, high-level spatial spell performed with such precision and ease!
Professor Mabel, the old professor who usually gave gentle theoretical lectures, displayed a level of strength that sent a shiver through all the students, including Raymond and Lyra.
“In my classroom, private fighting is not permitted.”
Professor Mabel slowly lowered her hand.
Her voice remained calm, yet it carried an authority that no one dared to defy.
Her gaze swept over Raymond and Lyra before finally landing on the shattered classroom door, her brow furrowing slightly.
“Raymond Bouquet, you have trespassed into a classroom, destroyed public property, and threatened a junior. These are serious violations of the Academy Rules. Leave immediately and report to the Academic Affairs Office for punishment. I will personally explain this matter to the Dean and the Discipline Committee.”
She then turned to Lyra, her eyes holding a hint of scrutiny and warning.
“Miss Lyra, your reactions are very fast. However, the Academy is not a place where fists solve everything. Next time, remember to report to the professor first.”
The invisible force of the spatial imprisonment dissipated.
Lyra stumbled slightly before steadying herself.
A flash of resentment crossed her red eyes, but she simply curled her lip and said nothing.
She retreated to Freya’s side, still staring at Raymond with vigilance.
Raymond’s face shifted between shades of green and red, his chest heaving violently.
He glared at Professor Mabel, then at Freya and Lyra. Finally, he squeezed a few words through his gritted teeth.
“Fine! Fine! Professor Mabel, I will give you face today!”
He turned abruptly and barked at the still-dazed Willow.
“What are you standing there for? Let’s go!”
Under the complex gazes of the students filling the classroom, the two brothers left like beaten dogs, scurrying out through the ruined doorway.
Just before stepping out, Raymond shot a vicious glare at Freya and Lyra.
The threat and malice in his eyes were blatant.
The storm had been temporarily suppressed by Professor Mabel’s absolute strength.
However, everyone knew that this matter was far from over.
Raymond Bouquet would never let this go.
Freya and Lyra had now completely set themselves against House Bouquet, and they might even face more direct pressure from the Crown Prince’s side.
“Alright, everyone is dismissed.”
Professor Mabel waved her hand, her tone returning to its usual gentleness, though a trace of gravity remained in her eyes. She looked at Freya.
“Freya, Lyra, please stay behind for a moment.”
The other students felt as if they had been granted a grand reprieve. they quickly and quietly left the classroom.
Despite their silence, their whispers and exchanged glances were full of shock regarding the incident and speculation about what would happen next.
Soon, only Professor Mabel, Freya, Lyra, and a floor full of wreckage remained in the classroom.
“Professor, I am sorry for causing you trouble,” Freya spoke first, bowing slightly.
Professor Mabel looked at her and sighed softly.
“Freya, I know you have been under… a lot of pressure lately. The Bouquet brothers have always acted overbearingly, and there are… complicated forces involved behind them. What do you plan to do?”
Freya raised her head, her light purple eyes calm.
“Professor, I will not actively look for trouble, but I will not allow myself to be bullied. The Academy has its rules, and I will abide by them.”
Professor Mabel looked at her deeply and nodded.
“You have always been sensible. However, Raymond’s strength is not to be underestimated. He suffered a loss today and will not give up easily. You and your assistant must both be extra careful. If you need help, you can come to me at any time, or… Sophie. That girl should be quite happy to help as well.”
She glanced meaningfully toward the back of the room.
Sophie had not left immediately but was waiting outside.
“Thank you, Professor,” Freya thanked her sincerely.
“Mm. Regarding the extra lessons, come find me tomorrow afternoon at this same time,” Professor Mabel said finally.
She turned and began organizing the lesson plans on the lectern, as if the conflict just now had been nothing more than a minor interlude.
Freya and Lyra also left the classroom.
In the hallway, Sophie was indeed waiting there.
Seeing them come out, she immediately approached, her face filled with concern and an unabashed desire for combat.
“Freya dear, are you okay? That muscle-brained idiot Raymond didn’t hurt you, did he? Do you want me to pay him a ‘visit’?”
“I am fine, thank you, Senior,” Freya shook her head. “That won’t be necessary for now.”
Sophie then looked at Lyra, her amber eyes full of admiration.
“Little one, that move just now was so cool! You almost hit that guy’s pressure point! You have great eyes! Are you interested in learning a few Melee Magic tricks from me?”
Lyra’s hostility toward the ‘Big Chest Monster’ had not yet fully dissipated. She huffed, turned her head away, and ignored her.
Freya felt a bit helpless, but her heart was not at ease.
Raymond’s appearance meant that the conflict surrounding her was shifting from secret probes and schemes toward open, more violent confrontations.
The relatively independent ‘pure land’ of the Academy would likely be unable to completely isolate the storms from the outside world.
She looked at Lyra, who was pouting but still following her closely, then at the passionate and straightforward Senior Sophie, and finally thought of the mysterious Professor Mabel…
The road ahead was treacherous, but at least she was not alone.
The fading glow of the sunset plated the towers and corridors of the Central Magic Academy with a warm golden edge.
After classes, the students’ footsteps were noticeably lighter as they walked in groups of two or three toward the dormitories, the Training Ground, or the bustling common areas.
Freya packed her notes and books into a simple leather bag and headed toward the Academy library.
To her, the library was not just a treasure trove of information, but also a quiet harbor where she could escape the noise, calm her mind to organize her thoughts, and consolidate her knowledge.
Although the thrilling interlude of the afternoon theory class had passed, the resentful look Raymond gave her when he left — and the complex forces potentially involved — made her realize that she had to improve herself faster.
This applied to both her magic strength and her judgment of the situation.
“Boss, the library again…”
Lyra followed closely by her side.
Upon hearing their destination, her small face immediately slumped, her red eyes filled with reluctance.
To her, the library’s atmosphere — so quiet she could almost hear the dust settling — and the shelves full of dense, dizzying books were simply another form of torture.
It was even harder to endure than the theory classes.
“It’s so stuffy there, and the words in the books crawl around like ants…” she muttered in a low voice, attempting a final struggle.
Freya didn’t stop. She glanced sideways at her, knowing exactly which method was most effective for dealing with this gluttonous ‘Little Wolf Cub.’
“For dinner, the roasted lamb leg at the Academy Canteen. I remember you wanted it at noon? I’ll add an order of roasted ribs as well. How does that sound?”
Sure enough, Lyra’s eyes instantly snapped wide, as if stars were flickering inside them.
Her previous reluctance was washed away by her desire for delicious food.
“Really?! Boss, you’re the best!”
She cheered, nearly jumping where she stood.
She immediately took the lead, grabbing Freya’s wrist to drag her along faster.
“Then what are we waiting for! Let’s go, let’s go! The sooner we finish the books, the sooner we can eat roasted lamb leg!”
Her urgent manner made it seem as if the library held a secret shortcut to the food.
Freya was pulled into a slight stumble, feeling helpless, but a very faint smile curled at the corner of her mouth.
Lyra’s simple and direct happiness always managed to easily dispel the gloom in her heart.
However, they had only walked a few steps when a cheerful voice chased after them from behind.
“Freya dear! Little one! Wait for me!”
Accompanied by light footsteps, Senior Sophie Teka caught up to them like a gust of wind.
She had clearly finished her own business.
A bright smile hung on her face, and her amber eyes sparkled in the sunset.
Her gaze shifted between Freya and Lyra, and when it landed on Lyra, her interest intensified, as if she had ‘found a fun new toy.’
“Senior?” Freya stopped, somewhat surprised.
She had always known about Sophie’s enthusiasm, but after the conflict this afternoon, she thought the senior would have gone to handle other matters first.
“I’m also going to the library to look up some information regarding the best smelting ratio for the Fire Crystals I just got,” Sophie explained naturally.
Then, she looked intensely at Lyra, her smile deepening. “And while I’m at it, I want to get ‘better acquainted’ with our cute Little Wolf Cub~”
The title ‘Little Wolf Cub’ made Lyra’s hair stand on end!
Almost as a reflex, she let go of Freya’s hand and took a sharp step forward.
She inserted herself directly between Freya and Sophie like a small, hostile wall.
She tilted her head back to glare at Sophie, who was much taller than her, and bared her teeth.
Her round red eyes were filled with blatant vigilance and rejection.
