The next morning, Samimi got up early, unusually not sleeping in.
She double-checked all the locks on Sweet Melon Church, making sure that not even a mosquito could get in after she left.
Though there wasnโt anything particularly valuable in her home, the most expensive item was the golden sword at Niubaoโs waist, which theyโd be taking with them. The health potions in the storage room could fetch some money, but nothing extraordinary.
In this otherworld, the rules were different from the modern world. As long as one had power and capability, money wasnโt a concern.
To Samimi, money was just worthless scrap metalโas long as she had enough, that was enough.
The rarest and most valuable things in this world were skill books and divine weapons, which sometimes couldnโt be bought no matter how much money you had.
After checking everything, Samimi and Niubao sat at the church entrance with two travel bags, waiting.
Not long after sunrise, two holy knights escorted the purple-robed bishop to the Sweet Melon Church.
โ…Impressive,โ Samimi said as she eyed the purple-robed bishop.
The fact that Saint Machima could sustain a magical avatar for an entire dayโone that could walk, talk, and even looked completely differentโspoke volumes about her unfathomable magical power.
For now, Samimi figured it was best not to fall out with her.
โWelcome, Bishop Orie. How are we getting to the Magic Academy?โ Samimi greeted her with a beaming smile.
Watching this, Saint Machimaโcontrolling the bishopโs body remotelyโfelt conflicted. She could clearly tell that Samimiโs smile was fake, her compliments forced. There was no genuine emotionโeverything she said was sarcastic and passive-aggressive.
โDo you have an empty room?โ the purple-robed bishop asked.
โEmpty room? I do… but what for?โ Samimi was hesitant. She had just locked everything. Begrudgingly, she led them back inside.
She brought them to an empty storage roomโits contents recently moved to the mayorโs mansionโleaving only a few crates of empty bottles in the corner.
As soon as Bishop Orie entered, she exploded into a wave of radiant holy magic that filled the entire room.
Quickly, a complex triple-ring holy magic circle appeared on the floor. Runes and glyphs lit up the walls and ceilingโthe entire storage room had become a magical workshop.
โNo one knows where the Continental Magic Academy is located. Only this teleportation circle can take you there,โ explained the young holy knight.
โYouโll be staying there for at least one semesterโhalf a year. Our church has people stationed there to receive you,โ the older knight added.
โDonโt forget your mission: to secure a foothold for the church inside the Continental Magic Academy,โ the young knight said sternly.
โThere are numerous factions within the academy,โ the old knight elaborated. โMages of the same elemental affinity tend to form alliances. Stronger and more numerous factions gain more influence. Itโs a world where only power speaks.โ
โHow influential is the Church inside the academy?โ Samimi asked.
โZero,โ the old knight replied flatly. โClerics with only healing abilities have no voice there.โ
โThis missionโs difficulty and reward are totally unbalanced,โ Samimi said bitterly, her face souring.
โThis is a gift from the Saint,โ the old knight suddenly said, pulling out an orange-bound book and handing it to her.
Samimiโs eyes lit up as she received it.
As someone who had transmigrated into this novel, she knew exactly what it was.
It was a skill bookโand not just any skill book, but a top-tier [Orange – Legendary Skill Book].
The most powerful skill in her current tree was [Mystic Arts: Sacred Domain], a [Purple – Advanced Skill].
Most of her other enhancement skills were [Green – Basic Skills] or [Blue – Intermediate Skills].
These were standard skills any cleric could learn, not valuable in themselvesโonly boosted by Samimiโs abnormally high support stats.
Even her strongest skill, Sacred Domain, was kind of mediocre: a support aura that boosted a lot of small attributes. It only really shined when supporting a large group of weaker allies.
She opened the legendary orange skill book. On the first page, in bold letters, was: [Blessing of the Goddess].
โComplete the mission, and there will be more rewards from the Saint,โ the old knight said.
โWait for good news,โ Samimi replied with a bright smile, stepping into the teleportation circle with Niubao.
โGood luck,โ the old knight nodded.
โYou better not let the Saint down,โ the young knight said arrogantly. โDonโt embarrass our Church.โ
Then the two knights exited the room and shut the door.
Samimi now needed to inject her own magic power to activate the teleportation circle. On the other end, someone had to confirm and receive the signal.
Meanwhile, Saint Machima was still monitoring them remotely. Though the magical avatar had dispersed, the glyphs on the walls included a secret magic eye she had added, still linked to her scrying crystal ball.
Sitting in her chamber, Machima watched the crystal ballโs projection of the black-robed young nun. The cold curve of her jawline, her ruthless auraโit left her entranced.
โBZZZ! BZZZ!โ
The signal was received. The teleportation circle glowed in its second stage.
In the blink of an eye, Samimi and Niubao were transformed into magic particles and transported thousands of miles to a mysterious new location.
Saint Machima stared at the now-empty room and suddenly felt a pang of loneliness.
โCough! Cough! Ugh!โ
On the other side, Samimi and Niubao had successfully arrivedโonly to be overwhelmed by nausea and spatial disorientation.
โThis place…?โ
Samimi immediately noticed how saturated the area was with magicโthe very air they breathed was dense with mana.
She instantly understood why this place was considered a mageโs paradise.
It wasnโt complicated: the land itself pulsed with magical energy. Meditating and training here would drastically speed up magical growth.
The surroundings were dim and dusty. In front of them was a tightly sealed iron gate, behind them solid brick walls on every side.
There was a dusty old cot nearby, and on the floor lay an ancient, decaying teleportation circleโwho knew how long it had been there?
This place was clearly a prison cell.
โWhy did we get teleported directly into a jail? Could this be a trap by Saint Machima?โ
โHello? Anyone there?โ Samimi called out.
From outside the bars, a black-haired girl in priest robes appeared. She glared coldly at Samimi with contempt.
โItโs you again. How much more do you plan to take from me before you’re satisfied?โ
Samimi brushed her bangs aside, activated Clarity Vision, and examined the girl closely. After thinking for a while, she finally asked:
โโฆWho are you again?โ
