“Damn it, I really thought those heretics wouldn’t follow us. I was planning to settle things here first before heading back. If I’d known, I would have gone straight back.”
“No, even if we’d gone straight back, with the strength of their Foundation Establishment cultivators, they’d have caught up sooner or later. It would have been a fierce battle either way. This sneak attack might actually be the best result.”
“That guy shouldn’t chase us anymore, right? After getting hit by that terrifying frost poison, if he’s smart, he’ll lie low and recuperate and get to enjoy a lifetime’s worth of torment. If he insists on coming after us, the frost poison will seize the chance to flare up and get worse, making it even more painful.”
“Wow, that’s really vicious. You could say death is better than living with that.”
On the endless wild plains, Lin Huanhuan was riding her artifact, the Ink-Wash Folding Fan, soaring through the air, one hand still holding onto a young girl tied up like a rice dumpling.
She glanced down at Dong Yun’er, whose face was filled with sorrow and despair, and couldn’t help but feel delighted.
‘Hmph, does this count as a reverse yandere kidnapping? I think it does, right? Then what does that make me? A yandere even more extreme?’
Lin Huanhuan tilted her head, pondering for a moment, then quickly shook her head wildly as if to shake off the thought: ‘No, no, that’s not it! Just because my body is female now, doesn’t mean my heart isn’t that of a man. I’m not a yandere!’
‘Right, it’s definitely this body affecting me. I have to fight off these thoughts. I absolutely can’t become a degenerate girl! I still need to turn back later, that’s all!’
Flying for so long was getting boring, so Lin Huanhuan simply asked the question that had been bugging her: “Hey, you. You said you wanted to lock me up for life, but why did you attack Ye Jinxi?”
“If you really hate her, why didn’t you do anything back when I was pursuing her? Did your hatred only grow recently? That’s weird.”
Yanderes are dangerous, but not all yanderes are the same—circumstances matter.
Take Dong Yun’er, for example. She just wanted to lock Lin Huanhuan up and care for her for life. She never even mentioned breaking her limbs or anything like that. She only said she was afraid others would hurt Lin Huanhuan. That was still yandere behavior, but definitely on the mild side.
“This kind is still redeemable. Figure out what caused it, give her a good scolding, and she’ll probably come around.”
“Those things I read online in my previous life might help. I hope so.”
That’s why Lin Huanhuan wanted to get to the bottom of why Dong Yun’er suddenly decided to imprison her. It would be easier to educate her while beating her up later.
Hearing this, Dong Yun’er wriggled in her bindings, struggling to speak.
“This, this… how do I put it?”
“Hurry up and spit it out! What, you dare to do it but not admit it? Don’t make me pry your mouth open with some less-than-gentle means!” Lin Huanhuan threatened fiercely.
“All right.”
Dong Yun’er sighed and finally explained: “Because she tried to seduce Miss and make you abandon me, stripping me of my value in life. Such vile behavior—I had no choice but to get rid of her.”
Lin Huanhuan was dumbfounded. “What are you talking about? When did she try to seduce me so I’d abandon you? Are we even living in the same world?”
“Didn’t you say before that you wanted to be a good person? Miss, you’re born to be a villain. How could you become a good person? So because of this, you mentioned leaving before—even though you took it back in the end, deep down you still want to, don’t you?”
“And all these changes started after Ye Jinxi arrived. I figured her appearance is the reason you changed like this. To cut off all future troubles, I had to do that.”
“What nonsense are you spouting? Is it wrong for me to want to be a good person?”
Lin Huanhuan grumbled indignantly, “And I just wanted you to have a better future. If you didn’t want it, fine. Why would I hold a grudge? Don’t make it sound like I’m some petty person who never lets things go!”
Just as she finished, she suddenly remembered Dong Yun’er was a yandere. Isn’t it perfectly normal for a yandere to think that way?
“So annoying!”
She could only try to explain patiently: “Me wanting to be a good person has nothing to do with Ye Jinxi. I just think being a villain is a dead end, so I want to save myself.”
“Do you want me to die or something?”
Lin Huanhuan shot back, and Dong Yun’er tried to persuade her, “Of course not, Miss, think about it. You have the backing of the Golden Core Spirit Clan. Who knows how deep your family’s roots go? What’s the harm in doing a few bad things?”
“As long as you don’t go out of your way to provoke the Supreme Clans or super sects of Southern Xinjiang, who’s going to touch you? So there’s nothing to worry about.”
Lin Huanhuan’s mouth twitched. “Isn’t that classic villain thinking? This yandere maid is at it again, trying to lure me into being easy to control!”
Lin Huanhuan snorted. “Anyway, I’m set on being a good person. Nothing you say will change my mind.”
The tied-up yandere looked deflated at this.
Then Dong Yun’er asked, “So, Miss, what are you going to do with me when we get back?”
Before Lin Huanhuan could answer, she started monologuing again: “I know, when we get back, you’ll abolish my cultivation and drive me out, telling me to leave for good and making me regret it forever.”
“I’ll kneel outside your door, begging and pleading, but it’ll be no use. When you get annoyed with my crying, you’ll come out and kick me away.”
“Then I’ll wander the streets, worse off than a dog, and die as a skeleton on a stormy night.”
As she spoke, Dong Yun’er seemed about to burst into tears. “I don’t want that. I don’t want to be driven away by Miss. I haven’t even taken care of you for a lifetime yet, wuwuwu.”
Lin Huanhuan was completely stunned, and only after a while did she manage to scold, “What are you babbling about now? When did I say I was going to drive you away? Can’t you stop letting your imagination run wild?”
“If you want to mutter to yourself, fine, but why make me sound so evil? Are you cursing me?”
“Ah, so that’s not going to happen?” Dong Yun’er looked up in delight, her eyes a little red.
“Of course not! What do you take me for, anyway?”
Lin Huanhuan retorted angrily, but just then, a sword of sound burst out toward her. Startled, she twisted and dodged, her body barely scraping past the sonic blade.
She came to a halt, eyes wary.
Up ahead, Iron Mask strode through the air, followed by a small group of lackeys, all riding their artifacts as they swooped in to intercept.
“How’s your recovery? Looks like it’s time to fight again.”
“My spiritual energy’s almost fully recovered. Fighting won’t be a problem.”
