Because it was deep underground and part of the servants’ quarters, Tii’s room was narrow and dim, as though it had been forgotten in a corner of the world. But every inch of the space was marked by her careful arrangement—the little decorations on the walls and the warm-colored bedding gave Su Ling a sense of sweet girlish charm.
“Tii, am I… really allowed to come in?” Su Ling asked, glancing around nervously.
“Of course! We’re already so close—no need to be shy!” Tii replied gently, her tone soothing enough to ease any anxiety.
Su Ling stood hesitantly at the doorway, her head slightly bowed. “But, Tii…”
Tii immediately understood her hesitation. Seeing Su Ling’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment, she gently took Su Ling’s hand and said, “Silly girl, what’s there to be embarrassed about? You’ll sleep with me tonight. We can squeeze a little.”
Su Ling looked up, eyes glimmering with gratitude. She stared at Tii and said sincerely, “Thank you, Tii. If not for you, I really wouldn’t know what to do right now.”
Tii smiled and patted Su Ling’s shoulder in reassurance. “It’s okay. Honestly, getting to sleep next to little Su Ling? I’m already so happy just thinking about it.”
“Eh? Really…”
“Yep! Come on, let’s go to bed.”
As they spoke, Su Ling’s nervousness and unease gradually melted away, replaced by a sense of warmth and comfort.
Once the lights were turned off, the room fell into darkness.
Tii’s silhouette became hazy in the dimness, giving off a dreamy, ethereal air. Su Ling lay beside her, watching as Tii approached slowly.
Tii gently pulled the blanket over them. Her movements were soft and careful. Beneath the blanket, it felt like the two of them were wrapped in their own tiny world, isolated from the noise of the outside. Su Ling could clearly sense Tii’s presence—the faint fragrance she carried mixing with the freshness of night air.
Worried about taking up too much space, Su Ling shifted slightly to the side.
“It’s fine. I’ll just sleep on the edge,” said Tii as she lay down.
The bed was small, and the two girls had no choice but to lie close. In the darkness, every little touch felt magnified. Su Ling could feel the warmth of Tii’s arm through their thin sleepwear, the sensation tingling softly on her skin, stirring up an odd feeling in her heart.
Tii, too, could feel the softness and warmth of Su Ling’s body. That touch sent a strange, indescribable emotion blooming within her.
“Your body temperature… seems to have gone down a bit,” came Tii’s voice when their arms brushed together.
“Mm, I already feel much better.”
“That’s good… By the way, little Su Ling, have you ever… shared a bed with another girl before?” Tii suddenly asked in a quiet voice.
“No… You’re the first,” Su Ling replied, not quite understanding why Tii was asking. “Why do you ask?”
“Oh, no reason. Just thinking how lucky I am to be your first.”
Su Ling’s face turned crimson.
“What do you mean, ‘first’—Tii, you always say weird things to tease me.”
“Haha, don’t be mad.”
“Hmph.”
In the quiet bedroom, the two girls lay close together on the soft bed. Their breathing intertwined. Tii turned over, and the blanket rustled softly with her movement.
Su Ling slowly rolled over too, now facing Tii. Even though she couldn’t see her in the dark, she could feel her presence clearly.
“The bed’s really too small, huh.”
In the darkness, Su Ling shifted slightly. Her arm brushed lightly against Tii’s waist, and Tii let out a soft “Ah.”
“Sorry!” Su Ling quickly moved her hand away—but accidentally ended up touching something even softer.
Through the sleepwear, the sensation was like reaching into a light mist. The object beneath the fabric felt alive—delicate and soft, causing an involuntary tug on Su Ling’s heartstrings.
“Mm… Little Su Ling… Don’t…”
Su Ling froze, her fingers pressing unconsciously down. She could vaguely make out the shape and contour through the fabric. That soft thing beneath her hand was trembling slightly… as if responding to her touch.
“Ah…”
A strange little sound escaped Tii’s lips.
Only then did Su Ling realize with horror—Tii didn’t wear undergarments to bed, only a thin nightgown. Had she just touched…
Her hand recoiled as if shocked by electricity. A wave of overwhelming embarrassment washed over her.
“I-I’m sorry! I’m so sorry—!”
Oh no, she’s going to hate me now!
“Mm…” Tii’s cheeks were glowing red. She tried to steady her breathing, but her heartbeat thundered like a galloping deer.
Su Ling was no better. She could still feel the softness of Tii’s body lingering in her memory. It was like electricity running through her limbs, making her tremble slightly.
“Are we… lying too close?” Su Ling asked cautiously.
“N-not at all.”
So neither of them spoke again. Only their breath and the sounds of their heartbeats filled the silence. The air was thick with something unspoken.
“Ahem… W-we should get some sleep now,” Su Ling coughed twice, trying to break the awkward tension.
Tii nodded, feeling her face burning hot, like it might catch fire. Su Ling turned away, now with her back to Tii, hoping the gesture might hide her embarrassment.
Though both girls retreated to opposite corners of the bed, their hearts continued to stir with emotions they couldn’t name.
“Little Su Ling… doing something like that… you’re so bad,” Tii suddenly whispered.
Then Su Ling felt Tii’s body gradually drawing closer, until she could barely move.
“Come a little closer… won’t you?”
Tii turned slightly, leaning in toward Su Ling’s ear. Her voice came like a whisper of honey—gentle and smooth.
Her sweet nothings, filtered through the night, became the purest melody. Every syllable was intoxicating.
“Tii, what are you saying…”
Su Ling felt warm breath at her ear. She opened her eyes slightly—only for her cheek to meet something warm. Tii had kissed her.
“Ah!”
“Just a little thank-you gift,” Tii said with a mischievous grin, then turned away, facing the other side. “Goodnight~”
—
Thanks to Tii’s antics, it wasn’t a peaceful night of sleep.
The next morning, Su Ling slowly woke up. The room’s light was still on, casting a soft glow. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and found herself alone in the bed. Tii must’ve already gone to wash up.
That girl… she’s always like this. I just don’t get what she’s thinking.
Su Ling sat up and stretched. Her gaze happened to fall on the desk, where she saw the letter Tii had shown her in the kitchen yesterday—a letter from home.
Ugh… snooping on someone else’s mail is definitely wrong…
She knew that, but for some reason, something seemed to be pulling her toward it. She walked over and gently picked up the envelope.
The handwriting on it was neat and strong, giving off a sense of warmth and familiarity.
But as she held the envelope, Su Ling had a strange feeling—something seemed off. It didn’t feel like an ordinary letter.
Suddenly, her hand slipped, and the envelope fell to the floor. The pages Tii had read yesterday slipped out—
“…Why are they all blank pages?”
