“Wan Ying hasn’t been slacking off at all!” He Wan Ying said, sounding like she was claiming credit.
“Really? Let me see…” Lin Guiming said as he leaned closer to her a bit, then quickly backed away.
“Hm, looks like you really haven’t been slacking. Look at you, all sweaty and stinky…”
“N-no, I’m not!”
He Wan Ying said this, but nervously sniffed herself anyway.
However, she really couldn’t smell anything.
That was natural.
Most of the impurities in her body had been expelled by now, so the sweat she produced contained very few impurities and couldn’t possibly have a foul smell.
Still, feeling guilty, He Wan Ying took a half step back, hesitated for a moment, then said, “I-I… I’ll go take a bath first!”
With that, she hurriedly turned and left.
Lin Guiming watched her flustered retreat with an amused smile.
By now, the sky was nearly dark, and it was time to wash up and rest.
Mother He had already personally prepared dinner and was now urging Lin Guiming to go wash up.
In truth, whether Lin Guiming bathed or not no longer mattered.
At his realm, his body had begun to transcend the mortal shell and no longer produced dirt or grime.
But after a busy day, a refreshing bath still felt good, so Lin Guiming didn’t refuse.
Following the direction Mother He pointed to, he arrived at a separate courtyard.
In the courtyard was a large basin filled with water.
Lin Guiming was cautious and glanced around to make sure He Wan Ying wasn’t nearby before feeling at ease.
He then undressed and used the basin water to wash himself.
The icy water slid down the perfect curves of his body, bringing a refreshing chill.
“Ah…” Lin Guiming sighed in contentment.
Cultivating immortality was cultivating the immortal, but in the end, it was to live the most mundane life possible.
What did any cultivator ultimately seek if not to reach the peak, to enjoy a longer life, and to have more time to appreciate the fleeting beauty of the world?
Shaking his head, Lin Guiming grabbed a towel nearby, wiped off the water droplets, and prepared to dress and go eat.
“Mother, have you seen Wan Ying’s towel?”
Just then, He Wan Ying’s voice suddenly came from the courtyard gate.
Lin Guiming was stunned, then immediately reacted, hastily grabbing a piece of clothing nearby.
But before he could put it on, He Wan Ying had already walked in.
“Mother, you’re…”
He Wan Ying’s voice froze along with her expression.
She looked dumbfounded at Lin Guiming, who only had a garment barely covering his crucial parts.
Her face instantly flushed bright red.
“Se… Senior Brother…” She was only wearing a dudou, and because she hadn’t dried off, it was soaked through.
She held her hands over her chest, bit her lip, and her eyes glistened with tears.
“Senior Brother…” she spoke again, looking at Lin Guiming.
“Hmm… what is it?” Lin Guiming finally snapped out of his daze and quickly turned his gaze away to ask.
“Um… the towel…”
“What?” Her voice was so soft that Lin Guiming could barely hear it.
“You’re holding Wan Ying’s towel…” He Wan Ying was truly embarrassed to the point of tears, looking utterly humiliated.
“Oh… oh.” Lin Guiming stepped forward two steps and handed her the towel, but something about the situation felt off to him, causing him to smirk slightly.
“Th-thank you…” He Wan Ying hurriedly said and then turned and fled as if escaping.
Lin Guiming remained dumbfounded for a long time, silently staring at the sky before finally letting out a breath of frustration.
“It’s all a trap, all of it!”
Covering his face, Lin Guiming said with a mix of exasperation and helplessness.
After all, he was still a young man full of vigor.
How could he keep enduring this forever?
“No, I need to figure out a way to avoid this senior madam…” Lin Guiming thought.
Since his junior sister wanted to enter the Guozijian, it was time for him to make a trip to the imperial capital and meet the Emperor.
Otherwise, the Emperor would be constantly reminding and worrying…
Once his junior sister reached the Training Skin Realm, it would be about time to set off for Jingcheng.
After changing clothes, Lin Guiming went to the main hall to have dinner.
During the meal, Mother He kept casting him ambiguous and inexplicable glances, which left him feeling helpless.
After dinner, it was time to rest.
Mother He still insisted that the He family had no extra guest rooms.
Lin Guiming knew this was a lie but had no choice and prepared to continue sleeping on the floor.
What he didn’t know was that tonight, he was destined not to find peace…

PS: Someone asked, so let me just say it clearly—I, at least in my current state, am unwilling to write mindless feel-good stories.
I can say for sure there will be satisfying moments—they’re a necessary element—but I won’t write plots that are purely for the sake of thrills.
This book isn’t a pure “feel-good” novel; it has its own core.
I want to tell you a story, not deliver spiritual junk.
Maybe writing otherwise would get me better results, but sorry, I don’t want those results!
PS2: Regarding length, recent chapters have been longer than before, and this will be maintained for a while.
