With one arm cradling the cat and the other hefting two large bags of spoils, Qin Shou fumbled to open the door.
He switched on the lights, and the warm glow instantly illuminated the entire room, finally allowing the weary Qin Shou, who had been on the go all day, to relax.
A man with a home, that’s how happy he is o(¯▽¯)o!
Su Yu, whose head had been nodding in drowsiness, was startled awake by the light.
Of course, it was mostly feline curiosity; not just anyone gets to tour the cool CEO’s residence.
Su Yu’s eyes were wide as saucers.
After scanning the living room, his entire cat body froze.
It seemed he had seen something he shouldn’t have.
Would he be silenced, meow?!
***
Ahem, Su Yu jumped down from Qin Shou’s arm, bounced a few steps to the sofa, and curled up.
The warm-toned fabric sofa was incredibly soft, feeling like lying on a marshmallow, utterly comfortable.
Everything seemed harmonious now, the only problem probably being: why did Qin Shou, as a cool CEO, live in such a down-to-earth, even girlish place…?
What’s going on?
The house as a whole didn’t seem large, probably around a hundred square meters.
The overall decor style was likely that of a “fresh and girlish” aesthetic.
A beige cashmere rug covered the brown wooden floor, matching the beige wooden furniture quite well, though all that off-white looked like it would be hard to keep clean.
In the center of the living room were a coffee table and a set of sofas.
In the middle of the coffee table sat a round-bellied glass vase, holding two hydrangeas, one large and one small.
The sofas were linen fabric, with light blue slipcovers, making them look both warm and soft.
The living room connected to a balcony, which was fully enclosed with large panes of glass.
This allowed for enjoyment of the outside scenery without worrying about wind, rain, or sand blowing in.
To the right, there was a birdcage-shaped hanging chair.
Slightly in front of the hanging chair was a wrought-iron side table of similar height.
On this table, there was also a round-bellied vase with two plump, perfectly bloomed hydrangeas.
Warm-toned curtains, the same color as the sofa covers, casually draped onto the rug.
Very artistic, very fresh, absolutely exploding with a girlish heart.
Su Yu eyed Qin Shou up and down with a strange look.
“Meow~”
“Brother, your aesthetic is quite unique.”
***
Qin Shou, with his sleeves rolled up to his biceps, was about to set up the cat’s bed when he felt an intense gaze sticking to his back.
He paused, then couldn’t help but turn to look at the sofa.
He saw the kitten lying on the sofa, squinting at him, its furry face expressing a complex, remarkably human-like emotion.
‘Is this kitten going to become a spirit?’
Seeing that the man merely glanced at him and then went back to being busy, Su Yu felt displeased.
He took small steps to Qin Shou’s feet, rubbing around the man’s sturdy calves, trying to get attention.
“Meow~”
“Look at me, look at me.”
Completely unable to resist the demanding, adorable cat, Qin Shou simply ignored the things piled on the floor.
He reached out, picked up the kitten, and kissed its furry head.
“Baby, is something wrong?”
His expression was incredibly gentle, as if he were a completely different person from the “human ice sculpture” outside.
“Meow meow meow?”
Su Yu looked utterly bewildered, the fur on his tail puffed up.
“How can you not stick to the script?”
Su Yu glared at the man, his eyes accusing.
Completely missing Su Yu’s brainwaves, Qin Shou only found the dazed kitten even cuter.
So, as he walked towards the sofa, he kissed Su Yu’s furry belly again.
“You pervert!”
***
With his head and belly consecutively “breached,” the immense shock left Su Yu unable to recover, and he slumped weakly on Qin Shou’s lap.
Qin Shou stroked the “well-behaved?” kitten’s fur.
He suddenly remembered that since adopting the kitten, he hadn’t given it a name yet.
So, he held the cat by its armpits, lifting the entire cat up, and looked at Su Yu’s furry cat face with a serious expression.
Su Yu tilted his head in confusion, “Meow? Something wrong?”
“Do you have a name?”
“Meow!”
“Of course I do!”
Qin Shou didn’t actually expect the kitten to answer him.
He spoke to himself, “If you don’t have a name, how about Daddy gives you one?”
A second later, Su Yu’s expression instantly crumpled.
“Who the heck is your son?!”
Qin Shou had a mysterious smile on his face, brimming with fatherly love.
His eyes shone brightly.
“How about I call you ‘Baby’ from now on? Hmm? Baby?”
Su Yu turned his head away miserably, not wanting to deal with this crazy lunatic.
“CEO Qin, do your employees know your persona is collapsing like this?”
Seeing the kitten turn its head away and ignore him, Qin Shou stretched his neck, persistently moving in front of Su Yu, face to face.
“Baby?”
“Damn idiot, I’m so tired.”
‘My owner is a crazy lunatic, what should I do? Is it too late to run now?’
It was definitely too late.
After being ignored by Su Yu twice, Qin Shou finally realized that his kitten might not be very fond of its new new name.
Qin Shou frowned in distress, then looked at Su Yu with a doting expression, as if saying, “You tiresome little imp, I truly can’t do anything with you. I’ll indulge you, I’ll indulge you, I’ll indulge you.”
“If you don’t like ‘Baby,’ then how about ‘Zaizai’ (‘little one’ or ‘cub’)?”
’There’s so much to complain about, but I don’t want to talk.’
Su Yu’s official name was thus decided.
Qin Shou leaned close to Su Yu’s ear, chanting his new name like an incantation.
“Zaizai, Zaizai, Zaizai, Zaizai, Zaizai, Zaizai, Zaizai, come to Daddy, hmm?”
***
While murmuring, he buried his face in the fur and rubbed, even trying to nudge Su Yu’s furry belly with his straight nose.
“Enough!”
Unable to endure the persistent, mind-numbing sound, the exasperated Su Yu extended a paw and pressed it against the man’s face, letting out a weak “Meow” in a perfunctory response.
“Please, sir, have mercy on me. I’m still a child.”
Qin Shou, receiving a response, was immensely satisfied, feeling a warmth in his heart.
His gaze towards Su Yu became even more filled with paternal affection.
After unilaterally playing with Zaizai enough, Qin Shou got up to prepare the cat’s bed.
The cat bed definitely had to be in the bedroom, so Zaizai could sleep with him.
He placed the cat toys in the cat bed, and then put the litter box and food bowls in the bathroom and kitchen respectively.
Having set up the cat’s living space, Qin Shou happily went to take a shower.
Then, he forcibly carried Zaizai back to the bedroom to sleep!
Su Yu didn’t want to sleep so early and protested with wide eyes, but lying in the soft cat bed, he unconsciously drifted off to sleep.
A good night’s sleep.
***
The next day.
Qin Shou woke up early and went to the kitchen to prepare his breakfast: simple eggs and bacon, plus a cup of milk, all very ordinary food.
He ate slowly and methodically.
Then he went to the bedroom to check on Zaizai.
The yellow kitten was curled up in a ball in its cat bed, sound asleep.
Qin Shou quietly retreated, disinfected the cat food bowl, poured half a bowl of the cat food he bought yesterday, half a bowl of fresh water, and filled the litter box with cat litter.
Finally, he checked everything again, and after confirming nothing was missed, he contentedly went to work.
When Su Yu woke up, no one was home.
He rubbed his eyes and crawled out of his warm bed.
After a happy stretch, Su Xiaoyu slowly padded into the living room.
Still a little groggy from sleep, the fur on his head was disheveled.
He shook his head and swayed his way to the bathroom.
He nimbly jumped onto the vanity.
The faucet was motion-sensored, so Su Yu extended a paw under the faucet.
Once the gentle stream of water hit his paw fur, he seriously began washing his face in the mirror.
Even as a cat, hygiene is important, meow!
After washing his face, he certainly felt much more awake.
He rubbed his paws vigorously on the mat to dry them, then ambled into the kitchen to find food.
Qin Shou, worried that the kitten wouldn’t find its eating spot, had intentionally placed the cat food bowls at the kitchen door before leaving.
Two shallow, cat-paw-shaped food bowls, one red and one yellow, were placed side-by-side at the entrance.
Su Yu approached, eyeing the cat food in the dish with disdain.
After a long hesitation, he ultimately couldn’t resist his rumbling, protesting stomach.
He tentatively stuck out his tongue and licked a tiny bit.
Su Yu’s eyes lit up; he didn’t expect the taste to be quite good.
So, he let himself go and ate his fill.
Su Yu rubbed his bulging belly.
Now that he was full, it was time to get down to business.
He was currently locked in the house and couldn’t get out.
He could only go online first; there must be news reports about his car accident.
He elaborately glanced around, confirming there were no other prying eyes, then Su Yu tiptoed along the wall, successfully sneaking into Qin Shou’s study.
There wasn’t much in the study.
To the right upon entering, the entire wall had been converted into an built-in bookshelf.
To the left was a solid wood desk.
In the middle of the desk sat a computer!
Su Yu’s eyes sparkled.
He nimbly jumped onto the desk and lightly pressed the power button.
He quietly waited for the computer to boot up, his heart anxious, unconsciously sharpening his claws.
Thankfully, the computer booted quickly.
Holding the mouse with two paws, the mouse arrow on the screen darted around like a headless fly.
Su Yu patiently moved the cursor bit by bit to the browser icon and double-clicked to open it.
***
Typing wasn’t as troublesome after that.
He curled his paws and typed one key at a time.
First, he would search for news from the day of his accident.
Clicking on the webpage, Su Yu stared at the news headline on a certain website, his entire cat body frozen in shock.
The headline read, “Eldest Young Master Su Tragically Involved in Car Accident, Rescue Fails, Becomes a Vegetable.”
