Chapter 39: Strange Blush

Ivy walked along the path to her destination.

Ahead of and behind her were two Vampire Guards, their purpose ostensibly to lead the way.

But in reality, it felt more like an escort under guard.

Ivy’s eyes were still a bit red, but the tear stains on her face had been carefully wiped clean.

If one didn’t look closely, they wouldn’t have noticed she had just been crying.

Before long, Ivy was brought to a door—not the door to Flossy’s room that she was familiar with.

This was a place Ivy had never been to before.

Although puzzled, since the Vampire Guards said they had arrived, Flossy must surely be inside.

Ivy didn’t hesitate and pushed the door open.

Flossy was bent over, reviewing the documents on the desk.

Hearing the door open, she lifted her head and glanced at Ivy without much emotion, saying, “Close the door properly.”

Ivy complied, shutting the door and then standing quietly by the entrance, unsure what Flossy had called her here for.

After saying this, Flossy seemed to forget Ivy entirely and continued scrutinizing the papers, paying no attention to Ivy.

A flicker of unease rose in Ivy’s heart, but gradually, her anxiety began to ease.

She didn’t know why Flossy had summoned her, but since Flossy hadn’t displayed any anger or sternness at the start, the chances of her acting harshly now were slim.

Ivy reasoned quietly, then looked around the room.

It was evidently a study, judging by the floor-to-ceiling bookshelves—a sight one wouldn’t find in a bedroom.

She wondered if Flossy had ever even read any of those books.

Ivy secretly observed Flossy’s serious expression as she reviewed the documents.

She hadn’t expected this sadistic monster, who only knew how to torment her, to have such a focused and earnest side.

Ivy had thought Flossy’s mind contained nothing but violence and control over her.

She rolled her eyes in her heart, but just as she was inwardly complaining, Flossy suddenly set down her pen and looked toward Ivy.

Startled, Ivy tensed up, thinking Flossy might have heard her thoughts and was coming to reprimand her.

But she quickly realized Flossy couldn’t hear her thoughts.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have managed to deceive Flossy even for a little while at the beginning.

With that thought, Ivy’s tension eased slightly.

“Come here.” Flossy beckoned Ivy over with a hand.

Ivy instinctively wanted to resist.

But recalling the torment of having her sight and hearing blocked, a creeping fear rose within her.

Reluctantly, she felt afraid.

Flossy could trap her in a living hell, and that was no empty threat.

For various reasons, Ivy did not disobey Flossy’s order.

Yet, unlike before, she did not try to ingratiate herself but walked over calmly.

She didn’t bury herself in Flossy’s arms or plead for a hug like before but stood there like a child being scolded.

The next moment, Ivy saw Flossy’s hand reach out.

Ivy instinctively turned to run, but Flossy’s hand was faster—grasping Ivy’s waist before she could escape.

She pulled Ivy into her embrace.

Unwilling to submit, Ivy struggled in Flossy’s arms.

“Behave.”

“Or I’ll put you back in that Little Black Room for a few days.”

Flossy’s cold voice whispered into Ivy’s ear.

Ivy’s struggling froze.

Although she had always maintained a defiant spirit in the Little Black Room, once out, she no longer wanted to return to that hellish place.

She was scared, after all.

Ivy sighed inwardly.

This shift in her mindset reminded her of a saying:

First battle, full vigor; second, waning strength; third, exhaustion.

That desperate attack, risking her life to harm Flossy, had drained almost all her energy.

If she could go back and do it again, Ivy doubted she could fight so recklessly a second time.

Especially after nearly dying from a fever in the Little Black Room—having come close to passing through the Gates of Hell—she was even more afraid of dying.

So Ivy chose to obey and not continue resisting Flossy on this matter.

Flossy’s hand slowly pulled aside the clothing covering Ivy’s shoulder, revealing a patch of snow-white skin to the air.

Ivy could distinctly feel the warm breath near her shoulder.

It was Flossy’s breath.

Flossy’s scent wafted into Ivy’s nose, filling the air she breathed with Flossy’s presence.

Now sitting on Flossy’s lap, held by her waist, Ivy’s back rested against something soft.

This strange posture and unusual contact made Ivy’s cheeks flush.

Although she hated Flossy, this physical closeness inevitably made her feel shy.

No matter how beastly Flossy was, her looks and figure were top-tier.

If they weren’t enemies, Ivy thought she might even call out for a sisterly cuddle.

But alas, they were mortal enemies, and Flossy was of noble birth.

That was why Ivy never developed any ambiguous feelings toward Flossy.

“Mm…”

Ivy tilted her head slightly and bit her lower lip.

Flossy was biting into her neck to feed on her blood.

Enduring the pain of the bite, Ivy suddenly felt a strange sensation in her stomach.

Looking down, she saw Flossy’s hand around her waist moving restlessly, rubbing her belly!

The odd feeling in her stomach and the pain in her shoulder created a bizarre balance.

Though hurting, Ivy didn’t feel like crying this time; instead, her cheeks burned even more.

This strange sensation made Ivy very uncomfortable.

She tried to pry Flossy’s restless hand away but to no avail—her strength was insufficient to resist.

She could only let that peculiar feeling grow stronger.

She didn’t know what it was, but it wasn’t unpleasant.

Finally, Flossy finished feeding, and her fangs left Ivy’s neck.

Ivy felt as if all her strength had drained away, sinking completely into Flossy’s embrace.

Her lips parted slightly as she breathed shallowly, a strange blush spreading across her face.
