“Sure.”
Lin Jianqing: “…”
Shen Huaixue’s tone was as if she were discussing an ordinary contract.
“Then sign the Personal Special Related and Private Image Management Agreement with you.”
Lin Jianqing’s vision went dark.
“You actually dare!”
“Are you crazy?!”
“I was just teasing you.”
“Quite creative teasing, but I’m a magnanimous person. Not only am I not angry, I’ll even adopt part of it.”
Lin Jianqing completely didn’t want to talk anymore. It was really tiring communicating with Shen Huaixue.
She could turn your reaction into material for her to keep teasing you. The more anxious you got, the happier she became; the more you acted that way, the more interesting she found it.
Lin Jianqing reached out and pulled the form back.
“Forget it, I’ll find someone else.”
Shen Huaixue didn’t stop him.
She just quietly watched him, a faint smile still on her lips.
“You can try.”
Lin Jianqing felt even more annoyed hearing that. Her tone clearly meant trouble. But he didn’t want to keep wasting time with her; if they kept at it, he was afraid he’d really tear the form to pieces.
After leaving the office, Lin Jianqing immediately went to find Zhang Jie.
Zhang Jie was pouring coffee in the break room. She was a bit surprised to see him holding the form.
“What’s wrong, Jianqing? Didn’t President Shen sign it?”
Lin Jianqing was silent for a few seconds.
“She said the position title was inaccurate.”
“Zhang Jie.”
“Position title?”
Lin Jianqing’s face showed no expression. He couldn’t exactly say that Shen Huaixue wanted to write ‘private actor’ and ‘cross-dressing model’ into his documents. That would really make him consider changing careers on the spot.
“It’s nothing.”
Lin Jianqing held back his words.
“Zhang Jie, can this be signed early? I’ll figure out the submitter’s signature later.”
Zhang Jie glanced at the form, looking troubled.
“The official seal is with President Shen now. She had administration take it for a contract last month; it probably hasn’t been returned yet.”
Lin Jianqing: “…”
He looked at Zhang Jie, making her a bit embarrassed.
“Maybe… go ask President Shen again?”
Lin Jianqing took a deep breath.
Now he finally understood what Shen Huaixue meant by “You can try.” The official seal was with her, and she was the submitter too. He couldn’t bypass her from the start. This woman had known all along, no wonder she smiled like that.
Lin Jianqing returned to his desk with the form, feeling numb when he sat down. The computer screen was still on, the document half-finished. He stared at it for a long time without typing a single word.
Isn’t this person too idle!
In a company, is her entire job just using people as entertainment?
He tried contacting administration, and they replied that the seal was indeed in President Shen’s office. He then asked Ziyi if they could submit a version first and add the signature later. The system reply was cold.
“No.”
So…
Lin Jianqing messaged Da Ju again, asking if he could submit a little later. Da Ju said it was best before 5 PM today, otherwise the background system might lock after the deadline.
After going in circles, it all came back to Shen Huaixue.
Lin Jianqing sat at his desk, looking at the form, suddenly feeling like a poor soul repeatedly tortured in a starting village.
He hadn’t eaten much for lunch; he’d originally planned to buy a rice ball, but running to administration, asking Zhang Jie, contacting Ziyi—time flew by.
By the time he came to his senses, it was already after 2 PM. He had to go find Shen Huaixue, otherwise the form wouldn’t be submitted today.
His stomach started to feel a little uncomfortable. Lin Jianqing pressed his brow, then stood up with the form again. No choice.
This time he knocked a bit harder. Soon, Shen Huaixue’s voice came from inside.
“Come in.”
Lin Jianqing pushed the door open and entered.
Shen Huaixue was still sitting behind her desk, as if she had been waiting for him to come back. On the desk lay the official seal. Very conspicuous. Sure enough, it was intentional.
He walked over and placed the form in front of her.
“Sign, stamp.”
Shen Huaixue looked up.
“Not going to find someone else this time?”
“The official seal is with you.”
“Mm, seems so.”
Lin Jianqing looked at her unhurried demeanor and lowered his voice slightly.
“Shen Huaixue, that’s enough.”
In the small office, Jianqing rarely spoke so directly. He would usually argue and retort, but most of the time he still held back. But today this matter was really annoying.
Shen Huaixue looked at him. Lin Jianqing had almost no patience left. His hair was messier than in the morning, and he clutched the form, looking thoroughly tortured by the whole process.
“Is this your attitude when asking for help?”
But seeing him like this, Shen Huaixue, while mocking, picked up her pen and signed her name on the submitter line.
Then she pressed the official seal in the corresponding spot. The sound of the red seal falling was very light. The form was finally complete.
Lin Jianqing took the form, lowered his head to check it.
Signature, official seal. All in the right places.
He didn’t say anything and turned to leave.
But Shen Huaixue spoke at that moment.
Lin Jianqing stopped in his tracks and turned around slowly.
Shen Huaixue leaned back in her chair, her tone still casual.
“I was just teasing you earlier.”
“What did you say?”
“I said, I just wanted to tease you. Seeing you angry but having to come back to me was quite amusing.”
Lin Jianqing looked at her. A few seconds later, he let out a laugh. Of course, it was an angry laugh.
“Quite amusing?”
Shen Huaixue had been about to continue, but Lin Jianqing’s expression made her pause.
“I didn’t eat lunch. I ran to administration, found Zhang Jie, and asked Ziyi if the system could accept a late submission.”
Lin Jianqing’s voice wasn’t loud, but every word was clear.
“All because you wanted to have some fun teasing me?”
Shen Huaixue didn’t immediately respond.
Lin Jianqing held the form, his fingers tightening a little.
“Shen Huaixue, I know you’re idle, and I know you like to amuse yourself at my expense.”
“But I have to submit these materials this afternoon.”
“If you didn’t want to sign, you could have just said so.”
“There’s no need for this.”
With that, he turned around.
This time he left more decisively than before.
Shen Huaixue sat in the office, the smile slowly fading from her face.
She stared at the door, tapping her fingers lightly on the desk.
That had indeed been a bit too much just now. She just wanted to see Lin Jianqing come back to her. She wanted to see him, after going in circles, finally have no choice but to stand before her.
That feeling had put her in a good mood. But she hadn’t expected Lin Jianqing to really not have eaten lunch, and she certainly hadn’t expected him to be this angry.
Shen Huaixue looked down at her phone and sent Zhang Jie a message.
“Did Lin Jianqing eat lunch?”
Zhang Jie quickly replied.
“It seems not. He’s been running around with the documents.”
Shen Huaixue stared at that line for a few seconds, her brow furrowing slightly.
So…
She picked up her coat, stood up, and left the office.
When Lin Jianqing arrived at Ziyi’s place, there was less than half an hour left until the deadline.
Da Ju took the form, confirmed the signature and official seal were correct, and then entered the materials into the system.
“Why the rush? The system almost closed.”
“Have you eaten?”
Lin Jianqing paused.
“I ate.”
Da Ju looked at him.
Lin Jianqing averted his gaze.
“Just a little.”
Even he felt that sounded unconvincing.
“Teacher hasn’t eaten yet. Since there’s nothing urgent, why don’t you accompany your teacher to lunch?”
