The vampires definitely didn’t expect that we could also use “Bloodline Communication,” right?
As mentioned before, vampires are composed of one family after another, each hostile to the others.
They are by no means a harmonious big family, much less what you would call a Blood Clan.
Every vampire in each family shares the same bloodline.
Vampires of the same bloodline possess unique sensing abilities that, when coordinated in battle, can double their combat effectiveness.
The Blood Knight Xiadam encountered earlier, and the vampire maid in front of her now, all belong to the same bloodline of vampires.
And the lord we are about to meet now must be the strongest vampire of this bloodline, commonly referred to as the [House Head].
Maid Gallondine led the two girls and the dragon through the complex corridors of the ancient castle, turning left and right until they finally arrived at a room deep inside.
Xiadam looked at the door at the end of the corridor.
A visible red mist seeped out from the crack in the door—unnervingly sinister.
The next moment, a flood of blood-red rivers burst forth, overwhelming the scene and freezing Xiadam in place.
But in the blink of an eye, Xiadam realized the scene hadn’t actually changed.
It was just an illusion.
“What’s wrong? Mage Lady, are you alright? Do you need to rest?” Maid Gallondine asked, turning back with concern.
“I’m fine.” Xiadam steadied her mind.
“Then let’s continue.” Maid Gallondine smiled faintly and led the way onward.
Xiadam knew this vampire maid was far craftier than her calm and elegant appearance suggested.
Because she must have known Xiadam was hallucinating to ask like that.
I am testing the vampires.
They are testing me in return.
Maid Gallondine pushed open the door to a standard lord’s reception study deep within.
But the interior decoration was somewhat gaudy and cluttered; odd little sculptures filled both sides of the room.
Bookshelves overflowed with miscellaneous items, even children’s toys, while books were piled like a small mountain on the floor.
The huge lordly reception room only had a narrow path left for walking.
The familiar Blood Knight stood before the lord’s large desk.
Her back carried the rolled Killer Sword, with the Demon-slaying Silver Sword hanging at her side.
Isn’t she the same female Knight Captain who had been debating with Xiadam before?
“I see now. I should have guessed. So you’re the lord here. The moment I first saw you, I could feel your extraordinary aura,” Xiadam said confidently.
“……”
The Knight Captain fell silent.
“What are you saying, young lady? I am here!” Suddenly, a youthful voice came from behind the Blood Knight.
The Knight Captain stepped aside, and only then did Xiadam realize someone was sitting behind the desk.
But the figure was so short that she hadn’t noticed her before.
It was a blonde girl, no more than eleven years old, wearing a thin white nightdress, with blood-red eyes, fair skin, and an exquisitely delicate face—almost doll-like, unreal in its magical beauty.
In short, I could tell at a glance she was not human!
If she hadn’t spoken, Xiadam might have mistaken her for a vampire collectible doll.
“Hmm?” Xiadam stepped quickly to the desk and looked down at the blonde child.
The blonde girl had already stood up, hands on her hips, and met Xiadam’s gaze as she introduced herself: “I am the great Sunset Lord, Dante-Louis. Mage Traveller, welcome to your arrival, but I maintain my stance on your disrespect.”
“This is the first time I’ve seen a girl even smaller than me,” Xiadam stared at her for a long moment, impressed.
“Ah! What do you mean? How dare you belittle the great Lord!” Dante shouted in anger.
“Ahem, Lord, please mind your manners.” Maid Gallondine stepped behind Lord Dante and coughed.
“Don’t go crazy, speak properly. Besides, comparing your height to a ten-year-old is a bit ridiculous,” Sheffield also scolded her younger sister sternly.
After that, Sheffield and Maid Gallondine exchanged a glance, both silently sharing a sense of sympathy.
“Heh, not bad for a mage. Just a few words and you’ve caused me intense emotional fluctuations. Quite commendable. No wonder the Knight Captain has to sneak back home through secret passages during the day,” Lord Dante snorted coldly.
But her demeanor lacked any real authority, making it hard for Xiadam to take her seriously.
It felt as though she was debating, arguing, and testing a little girl—utterly pointless.
Though she knew this little girl was no ordinary person but a lord-level vampire.
“Lord, I think you shouldn’t reveal the secret passages to outsiders,” Maid Gallondine advised.
“Oh right, Mage, please forget what I just said,” Lord Dante said.
“I’ve already heard. So you do have secret passages inside the castle. I was wondering why the Blood Knight appeared here,” Xiadam replied flatly.
“Then… the Knight Captain says you’re not spies from the United Kingdom. What exactly do you want here?” the little Lord Dante’s voice weakened.
“To see if you’re harming anyone,” Xiadam answered.
“I see. Then look around as you please. We don’t harm anyone here. If you like, you’re welcome to stay,” the little Lord Dante suddenly regained confidence.
Her sudden confidence only made Xiadam more puzzled.
Then Xiadam suddenly lost control, slapping the table hard, startling everyone.
“You really think I’d believe you just because of your one-sided words?”
“You don’t think I’m ignorant like those refugees outside, do you?”
“We’ve studied your habits and know your true nature.”
“You could never coexist peacefully with the Human Race because you cannot control your thirst for blood.”
“Once a vampire bites into a human vein, there’s no letting go. The taste of blood clouds your mind. The most rational vampire will drain the blood dry.”
“Not to mention, if you go too long without feeding, you can’t maintain this beautiful facade. The bloodlust will turn you into the cruelest, ugliest, most mindless monster on earth.”
“If vampires could control their bloodthirst, there wouldn’t be so many ghouls in the world.”
I, Xiadam, will not go easy just because the other side shows weakness; on the contrary, I will press even harder.
Nor will I soften just because the opponent is a cute little girl!
Don’t be fooled by my youthful appearance and fragile frame.
Inside me beats the soul of a seventy-year-old veteran knight!
No one knows negotiation better than I do.
Xiadam’s words essentially revealed the core reason why the Blood Clan and the Human Race cannot coexist.
Once a vampire clamps onto your blood vessels, they will never let go.
“I-I-I-I…” The little Lord Dante was so frightened by this that she nearly cried.
“Mage Lady, please don’t push the Lord any further. Let me explain on her behalf,” Maid Gallondine said.
