The youngest Cardinal Archbishop in history, the legendary Demon-Hunting Nun—Samimi Feiling.
“I heard she single-handedly defeated hundreds of knights from the Church!”
“She planted all her people into the upper echelons of the Church!”
“She brought down two former archbishops who had held power for years!”
“Another Cardinal Archbishop, Makima, is her teacher, and even the previously hostile Holy Knight Order was absorbed by her!”
“I heard even the Pope is her sister. Some say she’s the one truly in power, and the Pope is just a puppet!”
“I heard she recently appeared in the South, helping adventurers defeat the Insect King, but the price was the Church’s successful infiltration of the South!”
“So that means she’s got her eyes on Black Street now?”
“If even the Southern adventurers couldn’t withstand her, how are we supposed to hold out?”
The assassins in the Golden Building buzzed with chatter, the legends about Samimi growing more outlandish by the minute.
No one believed the official statement that “Samimi is missing” anymore.
“Heh, the Church is still putting on airs. The archbishop is out expanding her influence, and they say she’s missing?”
“Love it.”
Samimi listened to these evaluations, her inner satisfaction index shooting straight up.
“I don’t know about your affairs. Let Rex discuss it with you,” the Guardian Elder said.
“Fine.”
Samimi nodded, sat by the window, and continued sipping her tea, her posture leisurely.
Fabiana and Nino stood to the side like guards, silent and motionless.
Especially Fabiana—even though she was supposed to be the main character this time, she hung back playing the expert.
Wrapped in the full-coverage cloak Samimi had given her, she radiated pure aura.
Rex entered the room, and Veronica shamelessly followed him in.
“Greetings, Archbishop Samimi. May I ask what you need our cooperation for?”
Even though Black Street had just been trashed, Rex remained polite and respectful.
After all, no matter how strong Black Street was, it couldn’t contend with the Church.
The Church had the Holy Knight Order, the Temple Knights, the Papal Left Hand, the Papal Right Eye, and even hidden trump cards.
What’s more, behind the Church stood the Royal Family.
Veronica frowned at her boss’s attitude, completely unaware that she’d nearly been killed just moments ago.
If the Guardian hadn’t stepped in, even Rex showing up would have meant nothing but kneeling.
“We’re here for information.” Samimi got straight to the point.
“The moment I arrived in the West Sea, I was ambushed by a group of masked assassins. When their missions failed, they took poison and killed themselves, leaving no traces.”
“I asked other middlemen, and they said the assassins were their own people and wouldn’t provide information. When I came to you, I was turned away at the door too.”
Rex looked troubled. “By the rules, we can’t leak any information about our peers.”
“We haven’t offended anyone, but all clergy entering the West Sea are being targeted.”
“If you shield the perpetrators, you’re declaring war on the Church.”
Samimi’s tone was cold, carrying an undeniable pressure.
The Guardian Elder narrowed his eyes slightly, as if assessing her.
Veronica even felt a flicker of awe.
Only Rex was frantically calculating—
Follow the rules, or stay alive?
The answer was obvious.
“…It’s Count Perry’s Ghost Squad.”
“They’re not Black Street people. They’re private forces trained by the nobility.”
“Please don’t say we were the ones who gave you this information.”
Rex ultimately chose to bow his head.
“Very good.”
Samimi set down her teacup and stood up.
“Soon, you won’t need to worry about them anymore.”
“What are you planning to do?” Rex asked.
“Didn’t I tell you? Make them disappear forever.”
Samimi said flatly.
“I never wanted to be an archbishop in the first place. But someone just had to step on my toes.”
“Since that’s the case, I’ll settle it my way.”
With that, the three of them left the room directly.
No packing, no lingering.
Fast and sharp.
Outside Black Street, chaos reigned.
The assassins were bandaging each other’s wounds, but no one knew who had done this.
The three of them simply finished the job and strolled away, bold as can be.
“Count Perry—are you familiar with him?” Samimi asked.
“One of the Three Great Lords of the West Sea. His territory is to the southwest. He keeps a low profile,” Fabiana answered.
“Next time, you handle these negotiations.” Samimi complained.
“You’re the captain.”
“I thought you liked talking to people.”
“I like shutting them down, not working for free. You still owe me money.”
“…Thanks for your help.” Fabiana suddenly felt a little embarrassed.
“Don’t. I’m getting goosebumps.”
Samimi made a face of disgust.
“Hold it.”
Just as the three left Black Street’s perimeter, a voice rang out from the shadows.
Veronica stepped out, blocking their path.
Samimi didn’t look surprised at all, as if she’d expected it.
“Something else?” Fabiana spoke.
Her face hidden behind a mask, her voice low and commanding.
“Those skeleton knights—you summoned them, right? Not the archbishop’s ability.” Veronica asked.
“What’s it to you?” Samimi couldn’t help but cut in.
“I have a grudge against Count Perry too.”
“My partner betrayed me. He was a plant from Count Perry.”
“He stole my mission, swiped my gear, and nearly got me killed.”
“I want revenge.”
“Since you’re going after Count Perry too, take me with you.”
Veronica’s gaze was icy.
“What do you think?” Fabiana asked Samimi.
“You’re the captain.” Samimi shrugged.
“Then let’s do it together. More hands make lighter work.”
Fabiana agreed directly.
“Wait. I have one more question.” Veronica suddenly asked.
“Who exactly are you? Why does even the Demon-Hunting Nun take orders from you?”
Fabiana looked at Samimi.
Samimi shrugged, completely indifferent.
“I am Fabiana Diarmuid.”
“What?!”
Veronica’s face instantly filled with shock.
“You’re the traitorous War Marshal—Fabiana?!”
