“Hand over the ring right now, or I’ll throw you into the most terrifying monster den!”
The dwarf’s secret was finally revealed before you.
This tower possessed many spaces. Just now, he had been preparing to toss Mei Wei Si into one of those spaces and leave her to fend for herself.
All for the sake of obtaining your golden-quality ring, he had broken the rule of allowing only one person inside.
You were trapped inside a metal cage. Under normal circumstances, a single use of your Battle Technique would have been enough to break through this flimsy iron prison.
However, you discovered that both your magic and Battle Techniques were completely unusable.
“Hand it over now, and I’ll spare you an agonizing death!”
The dwarf’s face looked utterly ridiculous. Beneath him sat a “throne” carved from purple-black stone.
“Can’t you hear me?”
A rift materialized in front of you, followed by five or six more appearing in succession.
“Take a look. Where would you like to go?”
Images surged out from within the rifts. You quickly discerned the creatures and scenes contained within them.
There was a tomb filled with the undead, an underground cavern crawling with giant spiders, and even a goblin cave.
“Goblin Cave?!”
You suppressed the ecstasy rising within you and plastered a terrified expression onto your face, aimed at the rift showing the goblins.
“Oh? It seems you’re afraid of goblins?”
Seeing your look of fear, the dwarf believed you were genuinely terrified of them.
“I don’t know why… but regardless, if you don’t hand over that ring, I’ll throw you into this goblin cave. It’s filled with the severed limbs and remains of humans. They’ll torture you to death in the most brutal ways imaginable!”
“Look at these! The agonized expressions of these humans!”
You had long since developed an immunity to the cruel tortures of goblins, yet at this moment, you began to feign terror.
“No! That ring is the most precious thing I own! I can’t give it to you!”
“Hahahahaha! Then I’ll send you to witness hell!”
The dwarf flashed a comical grin, and a tremendous force shoved you through the rift.
Buzzzzz—
You stretched out your hands, barely bracing yourself so you didn’t crash too hard.
You opened your eyes and found goblins around you still gnawing on the flesh of some unknown creature.
The temperature here was freezing, and a gust of wind blew against your back, instantly covering your arms in goosebumps.
“It seems this is deep underground. Escaping from here would be nearly impossible.”
The dwarf’s voice echoed once more.
“Look at them! Once they finish that meat, you’re next!”
The goblins, drawn by his voice, turned their heads around.
They saw you—a human who had inexplicably appeared behind them.
Unlike the goblins within the Goblin Underground Kingdom, these goblins were utterly savage. Their very appearance was hideous, and many had jagged teeth jutting out of their mouths.
They immediately began screeching unintelligible roars at you, looking utterly enraged.
If things went as expected, they would tear you to shreds in the next second.
“This is my portal! Give me the ring, or I’ll make you their next meal!”
The dwarf’s anxious voice came through.
From this, you could tell this tactic had worked flawlessly for him time and again. This dwarf had even lost the patience to toy with his prey, believing that a mere threat or two would make his victims hand over their offerings obediently.
He was convinced that you were now so terrified you’d give up everything just to save your own skin.
After all, an unarmed ordinary person with no abilities whatsoever would have their mind go completely blank when faced with something they feared.
Even a malevolent being like this dwarf would appear trustworthy in such a moment, making his prey surrender their tributes willingly.
In reality, you had already noticed something—among the goblins’ food, one of Mo En’s personal guards was clearly visible, likely not dead for long.
“Hand it over! Or you’ll really be devoured!”
Seeing you remain unmoved, the dwarf assumed you were frozen in shock.
“You idiot! The portal is right behind you! Give me your belongings now!”
What he didn’t know was that this time, he had truly kicked a metal plate—you.
In that instant, the goblins who had been baring their teeth suddenly clamped their jaws shut. Then, they slowly walked over to your side.
“Gugu gaga—”
“Gugu gaga!!”
The goblins let out ridiculous, eerie cries before prostrating themselves on the ground.
“What?!”
The dwarf had never imagined such a scene could occur.
Why were these mindless goblins kneeling before this man?!
“Eat him! Now!”
“Too late. They’ve already pledged themselves to me.”
You turned around and flashed a victorious expression toward the portal.
“You!!!”
It was only then that the dwarf realized he had been tricked. You could actually control goblins. This was the first time he’d ever witnessed such a thing.
“That’s impossible! When they encounter humans, they grind their bones to dust and swallow them whole! Why would they treat him like this…”
In any case, the dwarf was now completely panicked—not only because he couldn’t get your ring, but also because his tried-and-true scheme had failed for the first time.
“Don’t think a few paltry goblins can get you out of danger! You’re thousands of meters underground! Climbing back to the surface is nearly impossible. And even if you did, the undead and monsters up there would kill you! You’re doomed!”
“Doomed? Do I look dead to you right now?”
You commanded the goblins to surround the portal.
“What are you doing?!”
You remotely guided one goblin through the portal.
“No! You filthy creature! Get out!”
“They can’t see the portal! How did you manage to send it through?!”
‘Because I am the Goblin King,’ you answered him silently in your heart.
With a strange shriek, the portal vanished, and silence returned to the surroundings.
At the thought that this dwarf would now have to dispose of that goblin without gaining anything in return, your heart felt immensely satisfied.
“Alright, now I need to figure out how to get out of here.”
You tried once more to see if magic and Battle Techniques could be used here. The result was obvious—still impossible.
“Looks like I’ll need to think of another way… Mei Wei Si is still in his hands. She probably doesn’t have much time left.”
Just as Lai En was contemplating, the System’s notification chimed suddenly.
