The Kingdom of the Elves was indeed located within a vast forest, and this forest happened to border the Northern Mountains.
However, on their side, they called this stretch of steep and perilous mountains “Moonfall,” and the forest they originally inhabited “Sprout.”
In elven mythology, the Nature God walked through this place, saw the suffering of the future, and shed a single tear.
Before that tear hit the ground, it transformed into a Seed, which sprouted in an age of suffering and grew into the towering world tree that blotted out the sky. Around the world tree grew a forest that would never wither.
This was the origin of “Sprout.”
This vast forest saved many beings during the age of suffering in later times; they were the ancestors of the elves. After enduring that age of suffering, they worshipped nature as their god and revered this world tree.
Of course, these were all mythological tales from the Sacred Text, and how much of it was true was probably difficult to determine.
In the past, there were many elven races, but the ones that survived to this day were only the Forest Elves and a small number of Gold Elves, though there were also a very few who could atavistically revert into elves.
Blood Elves were also a variant of elves; because of their different beliefs, their outward appearance differed greatly.
On the Southern Continent, the fixed impression of elves was of mysterious, cold, and proud women with striking figures and delicate faces.
They lived in trees, ate fruit without labor, drank dew, had skin flawless as jade, and bodies that carried a faint fragrance.
This impression was not entirely wrong, but the only accurate part was “good-looking and hot-bodied”; the rest was merely human fantasy.
Elves also had cities; like humans, they lived in cities. It was not that none lived in trees, but those still living in trees in this era were probably old elves over a thousand years old; they were the Old Guard of a bygone age.
In the border city of the Elven Kingdom, located on the outskirts of the Moonfall Mountains, stalls were set up along the streets just like in human lands, selling all kinds of goods, with dazzling small items everywhere, and some places were quite lively.
The new generation of elves had generally abandoned treehouse living and chosen to live in houses within the city, though they did not live in stone houses either, but in wooden houses they built themselves.
Vivienne wore all white, with a snow-white headscarf covering her hair and a semi-transparent white veil over her face. Her outfit was exactly the opposite color scheme of Enya beside her.
Glancing at both sides of the street, elves walked in small groups of three or five, and beautiful elven girls were everywhere.
Combined with the elves’ artistic talent and their willingness to spend time refining a single object, the city they built was very exquisite.
It was a truly beautiful picture…
After withdrawing her gaze, Vivienne looked at Enya beside her.
“How is it?”
“Why is everyone looking at me…”
Enya casually glanced around and noticed many gazes fixed on her, so she curiously asked Vivienne.
Vivienne gave a light snort and said with a smile:
“Who told you to have a pair of horns on your head?”
“Oh, I suppose so.”
Enya also smiled, cleverly dodging Vivienne’s question.
Vivienne sighed and continued:
“This city has a history of less than a few years; everything circulating here was transported over from the Zephyr Empire’s side.”
“What did you sell?”
“Heh, the spiritual life of elves is extremely dull, so I brought them some fun things from the outside, among which were some biographical novels. Guess which ones?”
Ignoring the many gazes assessing her, Enya followed behind Vivienne, pretending to be Vivienne’s personal guard.
Vivienne continued forward, and Enya followed behind. She did not need to guess to know what Vivienne had brought in to sell.
The elves who passed by them, after the two had gone far away, also began discussing the information they had observed earlier.
“That person has a tail and horns; what tribe of Foreign Race is she from?”
“I don’t know, but she’s female.”
“No need to emphasize that; I know she’s a foreign-race woman.”
The elf who said this could not help but blush slightly.
“Her horns don’t look like a cow’s, and didn’t you see she also has wings on her back?”
“Could she be a Dragon?”
“Very likely!”
“But what would a Dragon be doing here?”
“Should we go report it?”
“I think that works.”
The elven girls ran off, intending to report the foreign race.
Vivienne arrived in front of a shop, picked up a pendant inlaid with a Gem, and then said to the elven woman dressed revealingly, lying on a recliner and fanning herself with a fan:
“How much is this?”
“One silver coin? probably, just pay whatever you think is fair.”
The Forest Elf raised her head, narrowed her eyes to size her up, then lay back down and gave a shocking price.
