“Alright, I’ll go… I’ll go apologize to Qin Qingyue.”
Jiang Huai lay on the grass, facing the blue sky, murmuring to himself.
Uniting the Five Dragons was the most important thing at hand, especially since his own daughter was also a Yin-Yang Body.
He had to maintain good relations with the Five Dragons.
But his wife was an extremely proud person.
Naturally, she wouldn’t apologize. So he had to go himself. That wasn’t a big deal for Jiang Huai.
After all, Qin Qingyue had indeed bullied others back then.
She had directly taken him to someone else’s Dragon Palace to seize the Secret Realm.
He lay in this world devoid of living beings, quietly staring at the blue sky, his thoughts drifting far away.
This was the advantage of a deserted place.
Even after finishing his business, he could lie here freely without needing to change clothes.
“Young Lord Jiang.”
Jiang Huai’s vision suddenly went dark as a pair of slender hands covered his eyes, leaving him unable to see anything.
“Hm? Xuange?”
The voice calling him seemed to be Cang Qian, but the one covering his eyes was Qin Xuange.
The differences among the Five Great Dragon Clans were simply too vast. Just from the size of the hands, he could tell which dragon it was.
“Don’t move.”
Qin Xuange placed Jiang Huai’s head on her lap and gently stroked his cheek.
She looked down at the crisscrossing marks on his body.
When her gaze landed on that Black Dragon Mark, her heart stirred with waves of emotion, and complex feelings surged in her eyes.
It seemed there wasn’t a single piece that belonged to her.
Even if she added something of her own, there hardly seemed to be any space left.
Cang Ling had somehow managed to convince Qin Xuange and Cang Jing to follow them here.
Cang Ling and Cang Jing held hands. A flash of yellow light passed, and the two dragons merged into one.
Their appearance was identical, their bodies the same size, and the lines on their bodies were still strong and graceful, fitting the traits of the Yellow Dragon Clan.
But some places were clearly different.
The left side of the body had more dragon fur, while the right side had less.
Presumably, this was due to Cang Jing and Cang Ling’s different habits over the years.
They staggered over, their steps slow and awkward.
Though still uncoordinated, it was clear they could barely make it to Jiang Huai’s side.
Ao Yao, not wanting to see or be bothered, held her sword by the hilt, wagged her little Azure Dragon tail, and moved farther away.
Before leaving, she even let out a light snort.
“Sister, squat down,” Cang Ling said excitedly.
“Don’t talk!” Cang Jing said angrily, controlling the body.
Here came the tricky part.
Qin Xuange raised an eyebrow slightly, her expression subtle. She sighed and shook her head, not knowing what to say.
“Sister, a little to the left!”
“You’re leaning too far!”
The two kept trying to coordinate but never got it right. They would occasionally fall and sit on Jiang Huai’s calf.
Qin Xuange couldn’t help but speak up.
“Maybe you two should separate? Or try next time?”
Even aligning was difficult, let alone what came after.
“Fine!” Cang Jing said decisively.
“No, no. Unless I’m the one carving the mark!” Cang Ling said, still not giving up on the fusion.
“Why should it be you?” Cang Jing naturally didn’t want to give in.
“In the Illusion Realm, I was the one who married him, and I pursued him more times. Of course it should be me,” Cang Ling argued confidently.
Cang Jing retorted without backing down.
“But on the wedding night, it was me who was with him. And what do you mean yours and mine? When you pursued him, didn’t you also have a part of me in you?”
This was the reason Cang Jing had been convinced to fuse with Cang Ling.
Jiang Huai needed the Yellow Dragon Mark. It had to be carved either by Cang Qian alone, or by the two sisters fused together.
Clearly, the latter was easier for Cang Jing to accept. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have come.
Compared to her sister’s headstrong personality, Cang Jing preferred a more restrained style.
Ideally, reciting poetry under the moon, romance before the flowers, then the bridal chamber, exchanging a few words first, and then doing other things.
But if she didn’t go through with it today, it seemed she would lose her chance for the mark.
If only her sister’s mark ended up on him, Cang Jing felt it would be strange, with a subtle unease in her heart.
The two sisters had almost everything the same since childhood, whether resources or cultivation methods.
Generally, each had her own share, never taking advantage of the other.
But if it came to this matter and only her sister got the mark, Cang Jing found it hard to accept.
Even though she could sacrifice for her sister, some things still had to be weighed; otherwise, it would bother her.
“Then let’s not separate. Listen to me, find the right spot!” Cang Ling said as she struggled to control the body.
“You’re still aiming wrong! That’s the back! You’re missing! It’s the front one!” Cang Jing sensed the position was off and said angrily, her tail thrashing wildly.
With a body that could barely walk, now they had to accomplish an even more difficult alignment.
“How about I do it?” Jiang Huai had roughly figured out what was happening from the conversation and said as he tried to sit up.
“No, no. Each of the Five Dragons has its own traditions. The Yellow Dragon Clan is very proud. According to the ancient traditions in such matters, you cannot move. Just lie still,” Qin Xuange said with a smile, pressing down on Jiang Huai’s chest.
“Why are you Dragon Race so strange?” Jiang Huai couldn’t help asking.
He had witnessed so many methods and traits among the dragons, especially the Heat Period, and there was even a dragon who nurtured a sword sheath beside him.
Qin Xuange had no choice but to call out to Ao Yao.
“Ao Yao, come help.”
Ao Yao was holding the short sword, standing not far away. When she heard Qin Xuange call her, her body stiffened.
She looked back and saw Qin Xuange waving at her.
The fused body of Cang Ling and Cang Jing was squatting, in an awkward pose, stuck between advancing and retreating.
“Me? I’m not going!” Ao Yao shook her head.
“That’s their own business. What’s it got to do with me?”
“Help out,” Qin Xuange said.
“No,” Ao Yao turned her face away, her tail flicking.
“Just now I was dizzy and did something stupid. Now I’m clear-headed. I don’t want any more connections with that profligate man.”
“Really? Then what about your sword?” Qin Xuange asked.
Ao Yao looked down at the short sword in her arms, bit her lip, and muttered.
“The sword is the sword, and I am I.”
Qin Xuange wasn’t in a hurry. She just looked at her, as if waiting to see how long she could hold out.
Ao Yao hesitated for a moment, cursed “profligate man,” and walked over with the sword in her arms.
She went to Jiang Huai’s side without even looking at him, crouched down, and extended her small, fair hand.
“Can’t you move yourself? One stays still, and the other moves—isn’t that enough?” Ao Yao said irritably.
“You don’t understand. It’s not that simple,” Cang Ling said plaintively.
Ao Yao rolled her eyes, clearly not wanting to stay long.
After finishing, she stood up, mischievously wiped something on Qin Xuange’s face, and ran off giggling.
“Alright, don’t call me a second time,” she said, then moved farther away, still holding the sword.
“And hurry up!”
Strangely enough, Ao Yao noticed that ever since the Azure Dragon Mark was applied, the life force of this world had become even stronger than before.
It seemed that if this continued, at least some simple living beings might be born in this world.
She wondered what this world would become if the Yellow Dragon Mark were also completed.
