After taking a bath, the little loli sat on the bed in a duck-like posture, her wet hair draped over her shoulders as she focused intently on playing a game.
Her serious expression was utterly adorable.
Even though it was confirmed that this little loli was actually my deadbeat dad, her cute appearance still made me feel a bit dazed.
Was this really the jerk dad who left me with a pile of debts to deal with?
Perhaps sensing my gaze, the little loli looked up, tilted her head, and stared at me with a puzzled expression.
“What’s wrong? Is there something weird on me?”
I propped my face with one hand, leaning on the computer desk by the bed, and gave her a faint smile.
“Nothing, just thinking you’re really cute.”
Praised by me, the little loli puffed out her chest proudly. “Of course I am!”
Some things never change, huh?
Just like before my rebirth, she’s still a goofball when she’s smug.
The little loli lowered her head again, focusing entirely on her game.
I turned back to my computer.
Although I didn’t have any manuscripts to work on, I wanted to practice my drawing skills to pass the time.
What should I draw today?
I sank into thought.
Every time I do free practice like this, I spend ages just deciding what to draw.
“Waaaahhh!!”
Just as I was deliberating, a scream from the loli on the bed interrupted my thoughts.
I quickly turned to look at her.
The little loli had put down her phone and was staring in horror at the floor a distance away.
“Huh? What’s wrong?”
Though her scream had broken my train of thought, making me a bit annoyed, I noticed her frightened expression and asked what was wrong.
The little loli scrambled back on the bed, still staring in terror at one side of the room.
“Th-there… there’s a cockroach! Waaah~!”
Hearing this, I felt a wave of disdain.
“I thought it was something serious. Geez, Dad, you’re that scared? It’s just a cockroach.”
“If you’re not scared, then go kill it!”
“Tch, fine, I’ll kill it.”
With that, I grabbed my ultimate cockroach-slaying weapon: a slipper.
Following the loli’s gaze, I spotted a menacing black cockroach motionless in the corner by the door.
Damn it, for some reason, seeing the cockroach now made me a bit scared too.
But no big deal—it’s just a cockroach.
One hit with this slipper, and it’s done for.
Cheering myself on, I slowly approached the evil cockroach with the slipper in hand.
“Watch closely, dumb Dad, see how I take care of—”
Before I could finish, the evil cockroach darted toward me at lightning speed.
“Waaah!!!”
My forced calm shattered instantly.
Terrified, I scrambled onto the bed.
Seeing my panicked retreat, the loli burst into merciless laughter.
“Weren’t you all brave about cockroaches, Yeye? Look at you now, scared silly!”
“It—it snuck up on me, okay?! Dumb Dad, before you mock me, how about you come out from under the blanket?”
“Y-you don’t get it! I just took a bath, so I’m… I’m a little cold, that’s all.”
“Yeah, right! You’ve been out of the bath for over half an hour. You weren’t cold while gaming earlier, were you?”
“Coldness has a delay…”
“Delayed coldness, huh? Sure!”
Whatever, I couldn’t be bothered to argue with this stupid, cowardly loli.
The priority was getting rid of that evil cockroach.
“If we’re both scared alone, how about we team up to take it down?”
“O-okay, I’ll grab a slipper too.”
Her voice still trembled as she slowly crawled out from the blanket and picked up the other slipper by the bed.
Great.
Now, father and son together, we’d defeat this evil cockroach!
And so, two lolis, each armed with a slipper, cautiously approached the cockroach.
But when we were about a meter away, we both stopped in unison.
“Y-Yeye, why’d you stop?”
“You… you stopped too, didn’t you?”
“F-fine! As your dad, I’ll show you how it’s done this time!”
As if mustering her resolve, the little loli raised her slipper high and slammed it down toward the cockroach.
With a loud thwack, the slipper hit the floor.
“Did it work?”
She lifted the slipper, but there was no cockroach corpse.
Suddenly, we saw the cockroach crawling on the slipper…
“WAAAAH!!!!” x2
Terrified, the little loli threw the slipper away.
We both screamed and scrambled back to the bed.
But this time, the cockroach chased us relentlessly, forcing us to dive under the blanket.
We hid under the covers for who knows how long.
The fear from the cockroach had faded a bit when we finally peeked out.
Since both lolis were hiding together, we were pressed close.
I could feel the warmth from her tiny body and the enticing milky scent she gave off.
We’d both rushed to hide, so we were still catching our breath.
Panting from just this much effort?
This body is way too frail.
Sharing a blanket with my loli dad, her sweet, strawberry-like scent was almost intoxicating, tugging at my heart.
Realizing my thoughts were getting weird, I quickly shifted to put some distance between us.
But the oblivious loli didn’t seem to notice.
The more I pulled away, the closer she got.
“What’s wrong, Yeye? Why’s your face so red?”
As she spoke, she pressed her soft, cool hand against my warm cheek.
It felt soothing, and as the heat from my face faded, I calmed down.
“N-nothing, it’s just… the blanket’s too warm. Hiding forever isn’t a plan, right? Let’s figure out how to deal with that cockroach.”
“But we already tried together and failed.”
With the enemy at hand, we stopped bickering and started brainstorming how to eliminate the evil cockroach.
As we sat in silence, the sound of a key turning in the lock came from the door.
A girl rushed in, not even noticing the cockroach on the floor.
And just like that, the battle-hardened Mr. Cockroach met his end.
“I heard screaming and used the spare key to get in. What happened?”
The two lolis stared at the cockroach’s peaceful corpse on the floor, momentarily speechless.
“There was something… but now it’s fine…”
