Ri Yuedian sat paralyzed by the laptop named “Source Code,” his face blank as if he had just emerged from a nightmare he couldn’t wake up from.
“Let’s go!” He Jiulu grabbed the arm of the dazed Ri Yuedian, while Sui Luowen reached out and took Green Dam’s hand.
Crimson-black light once again flared around the Crimson Crow-Rabbit, enveloping the group.
*Whoom —*
The sensation of spatial distortion returned. In the next moment, they had escaped that chaotic, alien realm and arrived outside the villa.
The scene before him caused the newly escaped Ri Yuedian to fall into a daze. He realized he was still standing in the courtyard of his own villa. The night air was cool, carrying the fresh fragrance of grass and trees.
However, the previous horrific experience was by no means an illusion.
His entire villa was currently encased in a massive, translucent sphere that twisted and changed in a bizarre fashion. The boundaries of the sphere were not clear; it looked as if it were haphazardly pieced together from countless flowing, blended colors and shattered geometric shapes. It wriggled slowly, occasionally expanding and contracting.
Through this chaotic membrane, which looked like a splash of poor-quality oil paint, the silhouette of the villa behind it was barely visible. However, the lines of the windows and walls were stretched and distorted, as if viewed through rippling water.
From the outside, the Myriad Heavens Realm seemed to only wrap around the villa and a small portion of the courtyard. Its scale did not appear particularly earth-shattering.
“Zhi-gu-gu, don’t let its appearance fool you.”
The Crimson Crow-Rabbit hopped onto Ri Yuedian’s shoulder and patted his terror-stricken face with its paw.
“This thing looks like it’s just wrapping a small villa, but it’s a world of its own inside. The space is intensely folded. If it were truly unfolded, its volume would be at least the size of a planet!”
“You were only circling near the entrance. If you had fallen any deeper, hehe…” It didn’t finish the sentence, but the implication was clear.
At that moment, Green Dam’s body swayed slightly.
The emerald-green light paths and binary code streams in her eyes rapidly dimmed and extinguished, leaving only two simple shutdown icons before she slowly closed her eyes. She remained standing, her head drooping slightly as her breathing became even and long.
She had directly entered sleep mode. It seemed the earth-shattering battle and filtering from earlier had exhausted all of her energy.
“Well, newborn E-Shu are all like this. Their power is unstable, and they run out of juice easily.” The Crimson Crow-Rabbit acted as if this were a common occurrence.
He Jiulu glanced coldly at the standby Green Dam and the shaken Ri Yuedian before looking at the Crimson Crow-Rabbit.
“So, you called us here in such a rush just for something we can’t handle at all?” She pointed at the wriggling sphere of light. “This thing isn’t something we can ‘seal’ or ‘eliminate.’ Our coming here was a waste of time.”
“Zhi-gu-gu, don’t say that.”
The Crimson Crow-Rabbit twitched its ears. “Realms are indeed a hassle and usually outside an E-Shu’s line of work, but what if there are ordinary people accidentally caught inside?”
“Like this programmer here,” it said, poking Ri Yuedian with its claw. “If it wasn’t for the fact that he happened to have a ‘thing’ with the potential to become an E-Shu nearby, plus the fact that you arrived quickly, he would have been turned into fertilizer for that Realm long ago.”
“Your mission was to prioritize the search and rescue of any possible trapped victims and bring them out before the Realm-Suppressing Team from the Yulin City branch of the Public Relief Society arrived. Otherwise…”
The Crimson Crow-Rabbit’s button eyes flashed.
“Once the team begins the sealing operation, the internal structure of the Realm will undergo violent changes. At that time, anyone still inside will, at best, go completely insane, or at worst, be directly assimilated into a part of the Realm. Even the gods couldn’t save them then.”
As it spoke, a low, non-mechanical hum echoed from the night sky.
From the direction of the city center, a massive cube covered in intricate patterns was silently and rapidly shifting toward them. Wherever it passed, the city lights below seemed to dim for a brief moment. This was a unit separated from the living architecture complex of the Public Relief Society’s Yulin City branch.
The cube hovered above the Realm, casting a massive shadow. Small cubes moved out from its base, creating an opening. A pillar of light fell, illuminating several personnel inside the cube wearing specialized uniforms.
In addition to the Public Relief Society’s branch logo, their armbands featured a unique Bagua symbol, representing their status and authority within the branch.
The leader was a calm, middle-aged man. His armband bore the Qian symbol, making him the person in charge of this operation. Behind him followed several team members with Dui, Li, and Zhen symbols on their armbands, indicating different ranks and responsibilities. The lowest-ranking members were two operators with Kun symbols, who were skillfully maneuvering the equipment they had brought.
“The Realm-Suppressing Team is here,” the Crimson Crow-Rabbit said. “A Qian-level supervisor is leading the team. It seems they are taking this new Realm very seriously.”
The Qian-level supervisor did not immediately order the sealing of the Realm. Instead, he directed his subordinates to deploy a massive, ring-like energy generator.
The pillar of light shot from the bottom of the cube grew more solid, enveloping the entire sphere of the Myriad Heavens Realm.
What happened next was quite eerie.
The massive Myriad Heavens Realm, which possessed an internal space comparable to a planet, began to be slowly absorbed by the giant cube. It looked like a cloud of colored smoke being pulled by an invisible force, twisting and compressing as it was drawn bit by bit into a special isolation space within the cube.
The entire process was silent, yet it carried an indescribable sense of grandeur and strangeness.
A few minutes later, the last point of light vanished into the cube. The villa, which had been encased, was revealed once again under the moonlight, completely intact. It was as if the bizarre events from moments ago had never happened.
The Myriad Heavens Realm had been completely contained within one of the sealing units of the Public Relief Society’s cube.
—
Inside the specialized isolation space within the cube, the Myriad Heavens maintained its chaotic nature, but it was now fully controlled.
The team members operated through thick observation windows. “START THE RUIN-SUPPRESSOR TYPE 7 REALITY STABILITY ANCHOR! FIRST PHASE DEPLOYMENT!” the Qian-level supervisor ordered.
Massive metal devices etched with strange patterns were precisely projected into several key nodes of the Realm. They hummed to life, emitting a powerful stabilization field that forcibly suppressed the Realm’s expansion and violent distortions.
“SECOND AND THIRD PHASE STABILITY ANCHOR DEPLOYMENT! OVERLAP THE FIELD STRENGTH!”
More stability anchors were deployed. The three layers of force fields interlaced, forming a powerful network that suppressed the frenzied changes of the Myriad Heavens into a relatively low-frequency, controllable range.
