Inside the guild hall of the Radiant Light Guild, a group of elite adventurers still held their ground. They were busy sealing all the doors and windows.
“A giant knight? What’s happening? It seems to be killing those Insect People! What kind of monster is that?!”
Through the cracks in the doors, everyone saw the enormous knight outside tearing the insects apart.
Even people from this otherworld couldn’t comprehend this scene at all. Some even suspected this was some new type of Magic Beast.
The Radiant Knight slowly turned around.
Its scanning system detected the life signatures inside the guild hall.
The helmet was equipped with a Clear Vision Technique runic device. This was the black technology jointly developed by Samimi and Bemore.
In a sense, no one understood the Clear Vision Technique better than Samimi.
“Old Guard, it’s me, Aoi. This is the Radiant Knight I designed. I’m here to save you.”
The thick steel knight emitted a young girl’s voice.
It was utterly jarring.
“It’s Aoi! Open the door!” the Old Guard exclaimed in shock.
“Wait, this could be a Mimicry Monster,” a veteran adventurer cautioned warily.
“I’ll go out to confirm. You all stay inside. If something happens to me, seal the door immediately. Don’t try to save me.”
The Old Guard gave the decisive order.
The next moment, he slipped out through the door crack.
His movements were agile, proving his skills hadn’t rusted with age.
Of course, he was still scared inside.
But when he walked up to the Radiant Knight and saw the ground littered with insect corpses, shock and joy mingled within him.
“Aoi? Is it really you?”
“It’s me, I’m controlling it from inside! Old Guard, stop spacing out, what do we do next?” Aoi said urgently.
“I thought you were already…” The Old Guard was at a loss for words. “What kind of weapon is this?”
“There’s no time to explain now!” Aoi cut him off.
The Old Guard quickly composed himself and began reporting the situation:
“We have nowhere to run. Insect People are everywhere, they can smell humans. We can only rely on the buildings for defense.”
“But those giant Magic Beasts can easily break down the doors. We won’t last long.”
“Those giant Magic Beasts? The one that just destroyed my equipment, I punched it to death,” Aoi said calmly.
“…What?” The Old Guard was completely stunned.
“But I’m just a Blacksmith, I don’t understand combat,” Aoi said with a bitter smile. “What should we do next?”
The Old Guard took a deep breath.
“We must defeat the centipede in the sky. You… do you have a way?”
The Radiant Knight looked up.
In the sky, the upper half of that giant centipede had already vanished.
It had completed an airdrop and retreated back into the canopy of leaves, leaving behind only a sky full of drifting, falling leaves.
But it hadn’t left yet.
In the distance, its lower half was still extending, constantly laying eggs, assembling an unprecedented insectoid army.
Large Base No. 20 was beset by troubles within and without, on the verge of complete collapse.
This giant centipede’s tactics were even more methodical than the Hero of the Storm’s.
By common sense, continuous airdrops of insect swarms are the most terrifying and intense method of attack, but not the most stable.
This isn’t an ordinary world.
This is an otherworld.
Even if the main forces are drawn away, this is still the adventurers’ main base.
Every citizen is a soldier.
The veteran adventurers left behind are by no means weak.
Though the Abyss Insects are strong, humans are powerful too.
Airdropping insect swarms cannot completely occupy the base.
Therefore, the Insect Tribe’s true goal is harassment, delay, and disrupting formations.
Making the Defense Force lose command, unable to organize a counterattack.
The current base is exactly like that.
All survivors are holed up inside buildings, barely holding back the worm tide.
As long as no Abyssal Overlord launches a strong assault, they can still hold on.
But this is meaningless.
Because the real killing blow hasn’t arrived yet.
Once the insect swarm army outside finishes assembling, one overwhelming push and no one will survive.
“Not afraid of strong monsters, but afraid of monsters with brains…” the Old Guard muttered.
What’s worse, there’s no commander here.
No one like Samimi who can see through the battle situation.
Time is being drained away bit by bit.
“We must go to the Main City Gate to provide support,” the Old Guard said.
But he quickly fell silent.
Because when he looked back, everyone was already exhausted.
No one was willing to go to their deaths.
He also had no authority to force them to follow orders.
“I’ll go,” Aoi suddenly spoke up.
“Old Guard, you all hold the fort here. I’ll hold the line.”
“How can that be?” The Old Guard frowned.
“The Hero and the Priestess will definitely return,” Aoi said softly. “Until then, I’ll do it.”
The Old Guard was silent for a moment.
Suddenly, he remembered something.
“Wait, I have something for you.”
He turned and went back into the main hall, bringing out a flag.
On it was written Radiant Light, along with the guild emblem.
Aoi understood instantly.
The Radiant Knight reached out, took the flag, and inserted it into a gap in its jetpack.
The next moment, boom.
The mecha leaped over the guild’s outer wall, landed in the street, and began clearing the insect swarm.
Facing ordinary Abyss Insects, the Radiant Knight was practically crushing them.
Shattering them by impact, crushing them underfoot, slicing them apart.
One person, one machine, comparable to an entire Hero Party.
Aoi rushed straight down the main road towards the Main City Gate.
There, remnants of the army were still fighting bitterly.
On top of the city wall, corpses were piled like mountains.
They had stubbornly held back the worm tide.
This was the most brutal battlefield.
Once the gate broke, the insect swarm could drive straight in.
“Captain! Look, what is that?!”
“A new monster from the insects?!”
The Defense Force saw a giant knight, two stories tall, charging towards them at high speed.
Blue magic shining.
The sense of pressure was overwhelming.
Bows were instantly drawn to their full extent, aiming at the target.
But the next moment, they saw that flag.
The emblem of the Radiant Light Guild, fluttering and snapping in the wind.
