When measuring a female classmate’s skirt, a bit of physical contact is inevitable.
And for Su Xinran, such a task was of course…
Her sacred duty!
“I will protect the school’s discipline and regulations!”
“What are you spacing out for? Hurry up and get over here!”
“Yes, senpai!”
Excitedly putting on her armband, Su Xinran rushed over to the entrance to stand guard with Wang [So-and-so].
As Wang lectured her about the school’s rules and regulations, Su Xinran diligently took out a little notebook from her uniform pack and began taking notes.
Etiquette inspections included things like the bow tie and the etiquette clasp—violations of these would result in verbal warnings.
But the real focus was on uniform modifications.
This included alterations like boys tailoring their pant legs or girls shortening their skirts.
Honestly, this world was pretty relaxed.
Without morning self-study, students only needed to arrive before 8:00 AM.
It was now 7:20, and the first wave of students was just beginning to show up.
“Good morning~”
“Uh… good morning!”
The student who greeted her was so polite that Su Xinran felt a bit flattered and quickly returned the greeting.
“You’re too naive, kouhai!!”
Suddenly, Wang’s demeanor shifted like he had been injected with adrenaline.
Adjusting his black-framed glasses, he stared sharply, as if he could see through everything!
“Hold it right there—your skirt… has been shortened, hasn’t it?!”
“Eh???”
Both Su Xinran and the student being called out were stunned.
“You can’t fool a disciplinary officer with a friendly greeting! Kouhai, bring the ruler!”
“Really, senpai? Could there be some mistake…”
Still somewhat doubtful, Su Xinran led the student aside and pulled out the measuring tape.
40cm. But the standard length for skirts at St. Freya Academy was 42cm!
The moment her violation was exposed, the student’s previously gentle expression vanished, and she scoffed in annoyance.
“Whoa… Amazing… To detect a 2cm skirt shortening with just the naked eye…”
Su Xinran looked at Wang with new eyes—ones filled with admiration.
“Of course. This is a core skill for all disciplinary officers!”
“Whoa, that’s impressive!”
“Hmph, this is nothing. If you’re a man, you can tell instantly—using the knee as a boundary line, the so-called ‘absolute territory’ sensitivity. Not just that, with the eye alone, one can estimate three sizes, even cup sizes… ahem ahem…”
Boasting about the legendary powers of men, Wang got a little carried away being praised by Su Xinran.
But then he suddenly remembered—he was talking to a kouhai, and not just any kouhai, but an innocent and sweet one!
Saying such filthy things could totally ruin his mighty and respected image…
However, Su Xinran didn’t seem to mind at all.
She was more focused on why she didn’t have this ability.
Was this some special power that only men could awaken?
Why didn’t she get it?
“Ahem, that’s not important. What’s important is… recording that student’s name for demerit points!”
Quickly shifting topics, Wang scribbled the name down, and the two resumed their duty.
To Su Xinran’s surprise, even among the elegant, graceful young ladies, quite a few had modified their uniforms.
The line at the security office was getting so long that it was practically spilling out.
Still, Su Xinran got a full visual tour of everything from black stockings to white ones all morning.
“Isn’t etiquette inspection supposed to be on Wednesdays? Why’s it today…”
After logging the last student’s name, Su Xinran wiped the sweat from her forehead and handed in the now fully-filled violation log with a satisfied smile.
“Alright, it’s 7:59… Time to close the gate and call it a day!”
Just as Su Xinran and Wang prepared to shut the school gate, a dark shadow floated their way.
That shadow resembled a piece of paper turned to ash and drifting in the wind—fluttering and aimless as it approached the gate.
Narrowing her eyes, Su Xinran noticed it had… wings?
“Huh, is that a bat?”
As the black shadow drew closer, she finally saw its true form—it really was a bat!
“What bat?! Where??”
Wang, still focused on pushing the heavy iron gate, hadn’t noticed the flying intruder.
That bat seemed to be trying to sneak into the academy.
She couldn’t let that happen!
Bats were carriers of all sorts of viruses—rabies, coronaviruses, and more!
What if it bit someone and made her health code go red?!
Thinking quickly, Su Xinran dashed into the security room and grabbed the electric mosquito swatter the guards usually used.
“Take this~!”
Leaping into the air, Su Xinran swung the swatter like a tennis racket—smashing it right into the bat!
“Ow!!”
To her shock, the bat let out a sharp, human-like scream, tumbling and staggering to the ground.
With a poof, a burst of smoke exploded—and standing there was a pale-skinned loli with silver hair and crimson eyes!
The girl had her silver hair styled into floor-length twin tails, tied with bat-shaped clips.
She wore a black gothic-style dress, her complexion as pale as porcelain.
Two sharp little fangs peeked out from her lips.
A red, net-like mark from the swatter strike glowed on her cheek.
She clutched her injury in pain, tears gathering in her eyes as she glared at Su Xinran with seething crimson pupils.
“Oww, oww, oww… What the heck is wrong with you?!”
The girl shouted angrily.
“What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with you is the real question! Why the heck were you flying around like a bat for no reason?! And more importantly… You’re! Late!”
Su Xinran tugged on her red armband and spoke slowly and deliberately.
Sure, seeing a bat suddenly turn into a loli was a bit startling, but in this post-apocalyptic world, it wasn’t really anything to be shocked about anymore.
“W-Wait a sec… A bat… No way…”
Only now did Wang [So-and-so] seem to realize what had happened.
He rushed over in a panic, and upon seeing the scene in front of him, he cried out in disbelief.
“P-President!!”
“Huh? President?”
Su Xinran raised an eyebrow, still not quite registering what “President” meant in this context.
“Y-You idiot! This is our student council president! The Vampire Queen! The 24th Progenitor—Miss Lilia Scarlet! You didn’t go to the freshmen orientation assembly? Even regular students should at least recognize her…”
Wang shouted frantically, hurrying over to help Lilia to her feet.
“My lady, are you alright…? Good grief, what the heck just happened here…”
“…”
Su Xinran stared awkwardly at Lilia Scarlet, now being helped up…
What the heck… I zapped my direct superior with a bug zapper.
What do I do now?
Asking for help, it’s kind of urgent…
“You’ve got a lot of nerve… humiliating me like this and utterly ruining my dignity…!”
