Chapter 33: She is actually a fool

In the park, Lu Weizhu played around with Bai Yun for a while.  

“…”  

Leaning against a fixed bicycle, Lu Weizhu exhaled a breath of stale air.  

Her body felt a bit flushed, with tiny beads of sweat on her neck.  

After the intense exercise, her mood had improved significantly.  

“Let’s head back. I’m a little tired.”  

Bai Yun took off her jacket and sat on the grass nearby.  

The sky had long since turned completely dark, and the stars twinkled in the night sky.  

“Mm, see you tomorrow, Sister Yun.”  

Smiling, Lu Weizhu waved her hand.  

A gust of night wind blew over, bringing a chill; strands of hair stuck to her skin, tickling lightly.  

“Mm, see you tomorrow, dummy.”  

At the park’s entrance, the two parted ways, heading down different paths.  

“Really, lucky.”  

Amid misfortune, luck prevailed. 

Walking alone along the bustling street filled with cars and people, Lu Weizhu looked up.  

She gazed at the twinkling stars with a sincere smile.  

Besides the already fractured relationship with her sister, she now had someone else she could trust, someone she could lean on a little.  

Her heart, divided in two, was a good thing for Lu Weizhu.  

“Hmph~”  

Humming softly, Lu Weizhu’s steps were light.  

The neon lights painted dazzling colors on the shop signs lining the street, the noisy crowd full of life. 

The usual bustling scenery that wasn’t hers seemed to share a part of her at this moment.  

A glint flashed in her eyes. 

Lu Weizhu was undoubtedly fragile and easily broken, but she was also easily satisfied.  

After long torment caused by her pride, just a little respect and kindness would heal her.  

“In a way, I’m actually pretty amazing, right?”  

Talking to herself, Lu Weizhu shoved her hands into her pockets.  

Actually, “amazing” was a stretch—more like she was just clumsy.  

“Should I buy a pair of earphones?”  

As she walked, the thought popped up in her mind.  

She wasn’t too short on money right now. 

Could she treat herself a little better?  

“Forget it, I’ll wait until payday. I’ve already spent a lot on furniture this month.”  

With a joyful step, she didn’t return directly to the hospital but went back to her Apartment for Rent first, wiped down her body with a warm towel, changed into clean clothes, and then headed back to the hospital.  

“If only those two could be a little friendlier.”  

Daydreaming unrealistically, Lu Weizhu bought two boxes of Milk at the department store and returned to the ward’s door.  

The door was ajar, the light on; she wasn’t sure if Lu Weiyu was resting.  

Standing at the ward entrance, her joyful mood faltered.  

Lu Weizhu didn’t know how angry Lu Weiyu was with her after not coming back for so long.  

“…I chose this path myself; even if I cry, I have to keep going.”  

After standing outside the ward for a while, Lu Weizhu bit her lip. 

Avoiding Lu Weiyu wasn’t a solution.  

She pushed the door open.  

The ward was quiet. 

The girl on the bed lay on her side, and several paper boxes were placed on the table.  

Slowly approaching the bedside, Lu Weizhu could hear light snoring.  

“She’s already asleep…That’s good. Luckily, she didn’t wait for me.”  

Not sure whether to feel relieved or disappointed, Lu Weizhu placed the Milk beside the pillow and gently touched Lu Weiyu’s face.  

In the silence, Lu Weizhu noticed a few strands of hair fallen by the pillow.  

“D…”  

With a long sigh, she touched Lu Weiyu’s head, not knowing how long this thick hair would last.  

“Sister……”  

As Lu Weizhu was lost in thought, her hand was held.  

Lu Weiyu was a light sleeper; she had woken up.  

Her voice was hoarse, and when she opened her eyes, Lu Weizhu saw the redness and swelling around them.  

“…I’m back.”  

Not knowing what to say, Lu Weizhu replied softly.  

“Mm, Sister.”  

Lu Weiyu held onto Lu Weizhu’s hand, rubbing her own cheek.  

Maybe she didn’t want to trouble her sister anymore, or maybe she was afraid the emotional rift between them would deepen, Lu Weiyu didn’t ask why Lu Weizhu had only just come back.  

She simply held Lu Weizhu’s hand tightly until she noticed the Bandage on Lu Weizhu’s forearm. 

She opened her mouth but said nothing, only loosening her grip considerably.  

The girl was overly quiet, and Lu Weizhu was somewhat incredulous. 

She hadn’t expected this kind of scene upon meeting.  

“Weiyu, don’t you want to ask me why I didn’t come back yesterday?”  

Lu Weizhu was uneasy.  

“…Sister has her reasons. I won’t ask anymore.”  

Lu Weiyu couldn’t smile. 

She gently caressed the Bandage, her eyes filled with deep longing and sorrow.  

Lu Weizhu saw it all and felt a heavy stone pressing on her chest.  

“…I was a little scared of seeing you angry, Weiyu. Being ignored is a painful feeling, so I chose to avoid you. You must have felt awful, right? I’m sorry. I’m just so dumb.”  

She apologized.  

Was she hurt? 

Definitely. 

Lu Weiyu’s world only had Lu Weizhu. 

But she couldn’t express her pain.  

“I’m the one who should apologize. I knew Sister was the only family I had left, yet I was still so willful.”  

Lu Weiyu closed her eyes.  

“Also, Sister really is a dumbass.”  

Looking at the wounds on Lu Weizhu’s hand, Lu Weiyu hinted at more.  

“Ha, haha…”  

Lu Weizhu laughed awkwardly.  

“Sister, from now on, I won’t make you feel cold again. I won’t ignore you. Please don’t avoid me either, okay?”  

Raising her head, Lu Weiyu blinked.  

“I really, really am afraid of losing Sister, afraid that Sister won’t want me. So, don’t avoid me anymore. I’m begging you.”  

Her voice was soft and humble.  

She was always the one begging others humbly; this was the first time someone was begging her.  

Lu Weizhu was a bit dazed.  

Her sister was just as lonely as she was.  

“Mm, I promise, I won’t do that again.”  

Lu Weizhu thought to herself, she truly was a dumbass.  

She then thought of Bai Yun, her carefree jokes and warm smile, and something Bai Yun had once said.  

Holding Lu Weiyu’s wrist, Lu Weizhu’s gaze shifted.  

“Weiyu, Sister will take you to meet a friend one day, okay?”  

She had grown to trust Bai Yun more and was willing to let Bai Yun meet Lu Weiyu.  

She hoped Lu Weiyu could also make new friends.  

Lu Weiyu was stunned for a moment.  

From the word “friend” from Lu Weizhu’s mouth, she realized something: she was no longer the only one for Lu Weizhu.  

Her feelings were complicated; she didn’t know whether to be happy or sad. 

She had wanted Lu Weizhu to be happy, but when Lu Weizhu made friends, why did she feel uneasy?  

Lu Weiyu silently looked at Lu Weizhu.  

“She’s also my boss and a really nice person. One day, I’ll take Weiyu to where I work. Then you’ll believe my job is legit, right?”  

Lu Weizhu didn’t notice the girl’s strangeness; she was truly a complete dumbass.  

“Sure.”  

Lu Weiyu nodded.  

“Then, how about the day after tomorrow? I just want to go out and get some sun anyway.”  

She tilted her head and smiled.  

“…”  

Lu Weizhu hesitated a little.  

She wasn’t sure when Bai Lu would come back to find her again.  

“It should be fine, but I might be busy recently. I’ll tell you when I find the right time.”  

She stroked the girl’s head and lay down on the chair.  

“Go to sleep.”  

“You too, dumb Sister. You have work tomorrow, right? Get some rest early.”  

Reluctantly releasing Lu Weiyu’s hand, the girl on the bed closed her eyes.  

She soon fell asleep again.  

“Good night, Weiyu.”  

Lu Weizhu lay down on the chair and quickly fell asleep as well.
