Lin Shuqing panicked; she knew that had to be one of the enemy’s members—Ye Liu, who possessed Invisibility Ability.
She quickly hid, slipping into a small room inside the building.
“Captain Bai Lingluo, I’ve found the enemy member Ye Liu, but only caught a faint trace. The other enemy members haven’t been detected yet. She’s probably a scout like me.”
“Don’t let her discover you. Hide and use your ability to continue scouting the others.”
“Understood.”
Lin Shuqing ensured no one was approaching before continuing to use her ability to scout, but indoors her ability was severely limited.
“No other enemy traces detected so far.”
“Ye Liu, have you found anything?”
“Reporting, Captain, nothing so far. Could it be that the enemy also has some hidden ability? If they’ve already taken cover indoors, this will be troublesome.”
“Keep searching, and don’t let the enemy detect your presence.”
The Kongling Squad spread out, infiltrating from the urban village area on the outskirts into the Main Urban District.
Kong Ling and Ying Xian entered a subway station, where darkness swallowed all light.
Kong Ling raised her Magical Rod to illuminate the area.
Ying Xian slipped into the shadows, sensing threats. She was a dangerous hunter; with the faint glow from Kong Ling’s Magical Rod, she could cautiously observe and advance in the darkness.
“Lin Xing, where are you two?”
“Progressing smoothly, we’ve already entered a Jinrong Building! Wuhu! It’s really spacious here.”
“Jinrong Building? The tallest building in the Main Urban District? How did you get in so fast?”
“Lin Xing, are you sure? This isn’t the Jinrong Building; it’s the similar-looking one behind it, but much shorter,” Li Jing said beside her.
“Isn’t it…? All these buildings look exactly the same…”
“Hide and stand by,” Kong Ling ordered them.
Xiao Si reached a sniper vantage point in an unfinished, abandoned building on the outskirts of the Main Urban District, safely away from the combat zone.
“Xiao Si, position secured.”
“Good. If you spot the enemy, don’t shoot immediately. Report to me first.”
“Understood.”
Kong Ling and Ying Xian followed the subway into the heart of the Main Urban District.
“Captain Kong Ling! Enemy spotted—enemy captain Bai Lingluo, she’s flying toward your position,” Ye Liu said, leaning against the Jinrong Building’s wall.
“She found me?” Kong Ling exclaimed.
“Is it just one person coming?” Ying Xian asked.
“Looks like it’s only her…”
“The others are hiding in the shadows. Should we engage in this encounter?”
Kong Ling asked Ying Xian.
“You distract her first. I’ll find an opening.”
“Me, alone… against Bai Lingluo? Wait, I’ll call the others. Ying Xian, hide first.”
Bai Lingluo had indeed detected Kong Ling’s presence. Her tactic was to strike first, using herself as bait to lure the hidden enemies out, then have the reinforcements attack the revealed foes.
Bai Lingluo soon flew in front of Kong Ling.
Neither spoke. Bai Lingluo attacked first with her Halberd, kicking up dust that engulfed the scene. Kong Ling swiftly dodged, nearly struck.
“If that hit me, I’d be cut in half… Senior Bai Lingluo doesn’t hold back at all!”
“Sister Kong Ling, the attack isn’t over yet.”
Bai Lingluo gathered magic to the tip of her Halberd and unleashed a magical sweep. Kong Ling dodged, but the shockwave sent her flying through the air.
“Good opportunity…”
Just as Bai Lingluo aimed to follow up, she sensed a murderous intent from behind.
She twisted her body to evade Ying Xian’s lethal strike. The whistling sound of a red dagger cut past Bai Lingluo’s ear.
Ying Xian’s attack failed and she immediately disappeared into the dust.
“Ying Xian, you saved my life,” Kong Ling said, putting distance between herself and Bai Lingluo to avoid pursuit.
But Ying Xian had no time to respond.
“Ying Xian, watch out!” Ye Liu’s voice warned through the comms as she spotted a girl wielding a Scythe locking onto her.
Ziyuan appeared at the critical moment, swinging the Scythe to disperse the dust and reveal Ying Xian’s position.
“First, I’ll deal with you!” Ziyuan shouted.
A sharp clash sparked bright flames as Ying Xian’s dagger met Ziyuan’s Scythe. Though she didn’t land a hit, the long Scythe pinned Ying Xian down, suppressing her movements.
Bai Lingluo struck immediately, her Halberd slashing down from above, targeting the immobilized Ying Xian.
Boom.
The air thickened, heat rising sharply.
Turning her head, Bai Lingluo saw a long tail trace beside her—that was the mark of a Magic Cannon.
Ziyuan had been hit by a precise Magic Cannon shot from Xiao Si.
At the moment of impact, her uniform instantly inflated, cocooning her like a chrysalis. The Magic Cannon left only scorched marks on the cocoon.
Ziyuan was eliminated.
In an instant, Ying Xian vanished without a trace.
“Xiao Si, target eliminated.”
“Well done! We’ve reduced the enemy’s numbers,” Kong Ling said, as she and Ying Xian quickly retreated to avoid being surrounded.
“Xiao Si, be careful!!!” Ye Liu shouted into the comm.
The residual trail clearly revealed Xiao Si’s position. A powerful Magic Cannon shot came hurtling from afar.
Just as it was about to hit Xiao Si, a massive figure appeared, blocking the blast.
It was Li Jing’s Summoned Creature.
A quadrupedal beast resembling a strange beast, massive in size—fifty to sixty meters tall—with a round, somewhat cute appearance.
“Li Jing… how did you suddenly get here?”
“All because of me!” Lin Xing materialized beside Xiao Si.
“My spatial teleportation ability is pretty strong.”
But Li Jing’s Summoned Creature was only big in size. After Chen Lisi’s Magic Cannon attack, its body began to break down.
“It’s almost gone!” Li Jing said.
“Then leave it to me!”
Lin Xing started constructing a Magic Cannon’s firing trajectory.
“Chen Lisi, take a look at my Magic Cannon!”
A blue Magic Cannon shot fired toward the source of the attack, hitting an object in the distance and causing an explosion.
“My Magic Cannon’s powerful, right? Chen Lisi!” Lin Xing said proudly.
The enemy responded with an even stronger Magic Cannon shot.
“Run!!!” Li Jing’s voice disappeared amid the explosion.
The red Magic Cannon blast struck, blowing the entire building apart. The girls’ figures vanished beneath the rubble.
Lin Xing felt the world spin. After a long while, small hands pulled her from the ruins.
She realized she was wrapped in a white object.
“Being wrapped in this must feel awful,” Xiao Si said.
“So that’s Li Jing?”
“She protected you.”
“Damn it! Chen Lisi, I will definitely defeat you!”
