With Shi Lingge’s support, Su Ziyan returned to the bedroom, but judging by the distance, it wasn’t the same one from before. One could only say this house was terrifyingly large.
“This will be your bedroom from now on. If you want any small toys or plushies, you can tell me,” Shi Lingge said softly, fastening the dog chain connected to Su Ziyan to the nightstand.
“After all, being surrounded by some fluffy little things probably makes one feel much better.”
“I feel like you’re treating me like a child.”
Sitting on the bed, Su Ziyan couldn’t help but voice his complaint. To be honest, he was getting somewhat used to Shi Lingge’s attitude toward him.
“Then just think of it as me treating you like a child,” Shi Ziyan said, turning and leaning in close, instantly narrowing the distance between them.
“Don’t move.”
The scent that rushed toward him made Su Ziyan’s body stiffen. He could see the blurry outline of her face was extremely close.
Then came a soft click. With a sound from his neck, his collar and chain were both unfastened by Shi Lingge and placed on the nightstand.
“Tsk tsk, how careless of the Young Lady, buying something of such poor quality,” Shi Lingge recited in a flat, emotionless tone.
“Don’t say anything. I’ll put it back on you tomorrow when I come to wake you up.”
“Oh… thank you.”
The removal of the restraint from his neck made Su Ziyan feel considerably more relaxed.
“Won’t this cause trouble for you?”
“It won’t cause trouble for me if you don’t try to sneak away,” Shi Lingge replied, reaching out to straighten Su Ziyan’s collar.
“If you really did run, the Young Lady would probably tie me up and electrocute me… just kidding.”
“Then if I run, I’ll definitely take you with me.”
“Is it really okay to discuss escape plans with me like this? I’m on the Young Lady’s side… and I’m doing quite well here. I have no intention of leaving.”
“You’re right. So, will you keep my secret?”
“Probably…”
Shi Lingge paused, then abruptly changed the subject.
“I’ll get you a set of home clothes in a moment. Can you change by yourself?”
“I can.”
“Alright, I’ll take my leave then.”
Shi Lingge took a step back, putting distance between them, then, as if remembering something, stepped forward again and handed him two white objects.
“Here, these are for you.”
Su Ziyan reached out and took them. After a bit of fumbling, he could tell they were remote controls, as the front had several soft buttons.
“What are these?”
“The small one is the light remote. The top left button is for the room lights. The others are for brightness, color temperature, and such. Don’t mess with those. The current setting is optimal for your current condition, helping you see other blurry outlines better.”
“Oh, I see. Thank you.”
Su Ziyan nodded.
“That’s very considerate. And the big remote?”
“The big one is a call device. The button on it is to call me. Press it if you need anything,”
Shi Lingge turned and walked to the wardrobe, opened it, and rummaged inside, pulling out a set of gray home clothes.
“The others are volume buttons and such. No need to press those randomly either.”
“Here, the home clothes,” Shi Lingge placed the clothes on Su Ziyan’s lap.
“I’ll be going now. Are there any novels or videos you’d like to listen to? I can download and bring them for you tomorrow.”
“Huh? The treatment is this good?”
Su Ziyan was taken aback and casually named a few novels. Shi Lingge agreed to them, and then he was alone in the bedroom.
He stood up, fumbled his way into changing into the home clothes, then folded his own shirt and pants into neat squares and placed them on the nightstand.
The贴身 feel of these home clothes was surprisingly good. Thinking this, he lay down on the bed again, pondering everything that had happened today.
It felt like so much had happened today. What an unforeseen turn of events, to be inexplicably kidnapped by someone who claimed to be an “old acquaintance.”
As the other party had said, his sister probably thought he was dead by now, right?
She must be very sad. But how long would her sadness last?
Logically speaking, he certainly hoped his sister’s grief would be brief. But emotionally, he wished Xu Duyan’s sorrow would last a little longer.
Su Ziyan knew his own thoughts were truly selfish, but he genuinely didn’t want his sister to forget him too quickly. Even now, he still hoped to occupy the most important place in her heart.
Humans really are contradictory creatures.
Su Ziyan shook his head, forcing Xu Duyan’s face out of his mind.
If he didn’t count Xu Duyan, would there be anyone else who would remember him?
Only now did Su Ziyan suddenly realize how excessively monotonous his life had been. Previously, he had been writing novels full-time. It seemed that since graduating from university, aside from Cheng Qingyun, he had virtually no real-life social interactions.
He didn’t even have a few close friends. During holidays, he spent them either with Xu Duyan or Cheng Qingyun.
Thinking about it this way, his previous life really was too monotonous. If he could leave this place, he decided he would definitely live a more colorful life.
Would Cheng Qingyun think of him?
Smack!
Su Ziyan raised his hand and slapped himself across the face, thinking to himself how despicable he was. He was the one who had initiated the breakup, yet here he was, still hoping the other person would remember him.
That was terrible.
And how could it even be possible? After all, they hadn’t contacted each other at all for three months.
The best ex should be like a dead person. In that regard, the two of them were indeed the best exes.
So, who else would remember him?
Su Ziyan racked his brains and suddenly thought of another person.
Su Xiaoyan, his nominal younger sister. She would probably receive news of his death, right?
Would she feel even a little bit sad?
Probably not. After all, the last time they met was at Mother Su’s funeral, where they had barely exchanged a few words.
And facing Mother Su’s body, Su Ziyan felt more at a loss than sorrowful.
He thought he should cry for her, but they had only lived together for a short period, and in the many years since, they had hardly seen each other.
Until her funeral.
If he had to cry, he truly couldn’t.
Su Ziyan stared at her remains for a long time, trying hard. He clearly felt sadness in his heart, but the tears just wouldn’t come.
In the end, from the time her body was sent into the crematorium until the end, Su Ziyan didn’t shed a single tear.
So, Su Xiaoyan probably wouldn’t shed tears over his death either. She might not even feel any grief, right?
In Su Ziyan’s memory, her face had already blurred. He only remembered she had a pair of very beautiful eyes…
As he was lost in these thoughts, his door was knocked.
