June 7th and 8th are the dates for the nationwide unified College Entrance Exam.
That’s why the Evening Gala held for the Senior Year students is basically the last event they’ll participate in during high school. Usually, it’s scheduled for the end of May or the beginning of June.
This time, the date was set for May 30th.
Right after the gala, the Senior Year students get a whole week off to rest and wait for the College Entrance Exam.
At this moment, Fang Qiao was still a bit dazed in the classroom. She never expected Xia Hua would actually agree, and an anxious feeling rose in her heart.
Because after this, there would be no more chances to perform her Drama.
“You better not mess it up…” Fang Qiao’s voice grew softer and softer.
“Don’t worry.” Xia Hua assured Fang Qiao with a smile, “I definitely won’t mess it up. Even if it’s just for the Class Honor, I’ll take it seriously!!”
It’s over. Xia Hua really was going to replace her Drama performance.
Fang Qiao suddenly felt a bit of regret.
But once words are spoken, they’re like water spilled—there’s no taking them back.
Especially when you say it in front of so many people.
“Alright.” Teacher Ye Ling clapped her hands and said quickly, “Since the matter is settled, let’s start class now! Everyone~”
“Class, let’s begin.”
‘Good~ mor~ ning, teacherrrrr~~~’
“Hello, everyone. Please sit down……”
Teacher Ye Ling began her legendary teaching once more.
Most of the students listened with rapt attention, looking like they were deeply benefiting and totally understood everything.
A few, like Xia Hua— who had already been to college and passed Level Four— weren’t really listening.
The top student Ye Tingzhu was lost in her own little schemes, and Chen Kailun was still worried about yesterday’s incident being exposed.
Fang Qiao was completely out of it.
So much so that after class, Ye Tingzhu and Chen Kailun had to come over to comfort her, saying, “Fang Qiao, don’t worry! There are only four or five days left until the Senior Year Gala.”
“You think Xia Hua can handle it?”
“Yeah.” Chen Kailun chimed in confidently, “You spent so long practicing for the Drama, and you can’t even guarantee you’ll pull it off perfectly. What can Xia Hua do with just four or five days?”
“She won’t be able to do anything.”
“She’ll come back crying and begging you for help.”
“Trust me, this is just a waiting game. Whoever gives in first loses.”
“This time, we have to make sure she embarrasses herself in front of the whole school.” Ye Tingzhu said viciously.
When Xia Hua heard about their conversation from others, she just smiled faintly. Now they only dared to gossip behind her back— they wouldn’t even say it to her face.
It’s just a gala performance, right? Xia Hua honestly didn’t see a problem.
Traditional performances could be singing or dancing.
But at a high school Evening Gala where just putting on a Sketch Comedy or a Drama would be considered refreshing, Xia Hua really thought it was all too simple, okay?
“Singing and dancing are out.” Xia Hua dismissed those options.
Every time she sang or danced, she felt like an Indian movie character— whenever something happened, don’t say anything, just break into song and dance.
“Sketch Comedy, Crosstalk, Piano, Violin……” Xia Hua listed out all the possible acts.
In the end, she rejected them all—she didn’t like them, and they were too much trouble.
So why not choose something that wasn’t troublesome, and was also her specialty?
‘Painting!!’
Yes, just draw whatever Xia Hua wanted.
Once Xia Hua made up her mind, she didn’t dwell on it anymore.
She’d just treat it like a client had commissioned a painting with the theme of high school, and she’d do her best to complete it.
As for how exactly to present it…
While Xia Hua was pondering the form of the performance, her thoughts were interrupted by some news.
A parent had brought a student from another school to see the Principal, demanding justice.
Apparently, their kid had been beaten up here at First High School, wrapped in bandages and looking so pitiful that people couldn’t help but gasp— whoever did it really didn’t hold back!!
“Huh, bringing their parents… Those two delinquents, are they really that gutless?” Xia Hua paused her thoughts about the gala performance.
She’d thought those two delinquents would come to school looking for revenge!
But this? This?
Bringing their parents? What kind of delinquents are you?
She looked around the classroom and saw that Chen Kailun had already disappeared—run off somewhere.
This whole thing started because of Chen Kailun. If anyone was going to take responsibility, he’d be the first.
If he was smart, he’d do everything he could to stop those two delinquents from telling the truth.
As for Xia Hua, she wasn’t worried at all. Instead, she said calmly, “I haven’t even come looking for you yet, and you’re already coming to me. Fine, I’ll choose an ending for you!”
“How about I make you suffer social death?”
“That’s settled, then.”
“Hee hee (#^.^#).”
Of course, Chen Kailun wasn’t getting out of this either. Didn’t Xia Hua say so herself?
Just deal with all of them at once.
She walked slowly to a spot not far from the Comprehensive Building’s Principal’s office. Before she even got close, she could already hear the two delinquents’ parents roaring, basically demanding First High School take full responsibility.
The funniest part was, those two delinquents still didn’t know who the girl was that beat them up so badly.
They had just come to First High School at Chen Kailun’s invitation to help him teach someone a lesson.
They were only responsible for the beating, not for remembering faces!
And their main target had been Lin An.
Now Chen Kailun was missing, too.
They didn’t even know which class Xia Hua was in.
[Please calm down, parents. Let’s talk this over. We will definitely give you an explanation. But first, we need to find the culprit. So, you two students from Class Eight, do you know which class she’s in?]
Delinquents: ……We don’t know!
[You don’t know? Oh dear, that’s troublesome.]
[Then we’ll just have to look into it slowly.]
The Principal was an old fox. When the two delinquents couldn’t answer anything,
the Balding Principal knew exactly what to do: stall for time.
You two brats came to my school to pick a fight, got beaten up, and now you have the nerve to bring your parents?
As the Principal of First High School, there’s no way he’d help problem students from Class Eight make trouble for his own school.
Between the lines, the Principal was basically saying, Go find your evidence!
If you find it, I’ll handle it fairly. If not, then forget it— I’m not helping you look, okay?
‘Click, click~~’
Outside the Principal’s office, a girl was covering her beautiful face with her hand.
She had hurried back and forth several times, and her phone was already full of photos of the two delinquents and their parents.
The camera wasn’t great, but as long as the people were recognizable, it was good enough.
She checked the photos she’d taken. There were a few she wanted.
Xia Hua left the Principal’s office floor, walking and calling Teacher Ye Ling at the same time: “Hello, Teacher, can I ask for a leave of absence? You can just make up any reason for me.”
“How about period pains? The kind where you’re bleeding out.” Teacher Ye Ling asked.
“That works, that works.” Xia Hua nodded.
She still hadn’t experienced her period, so she didn’t know what it felt like.
She agreed without thinking.
After getting home, Xia Hua turned on her computer and got to work.
Today, I’ll show you just how dangerous society can be!
What, Chen Kailun?
He’s not getting away either!!
