“My honored master asked me to handle clan affairs, I can’t go out.”
White Orange glanced lightly at Cheng Jia, her gaze as clear and cold as frost, carrying a hint of scrutiny.
This child is trying to use that to pressure me? She has none of the bearing of the White Dragon Clan at all.
A half-dragon just doesn’t have the same distinctive traits as a pure-blooded dragon.
In their White Dragon Clan, which dragon wasn’t quiet and still as a child? Even when gathered together, they wouldn’t talk much.
Little Jianjia clenched her small fists, stepped forward, and continued to shake White Sandalwood’s dragon tail.
The tail was swung back and forth by her, like a cat teaser being played with by a cat.
Seeing that it was ineffective against this older sister, she huffed angrily a few times, plopped down on the ground, and muttered:
“What’s wrong with you putting in a word for me? I’m not going back to any Nine Heavens Palace. My mother and grandmother are both here, I don’t want to go to that palace.”
White Sandalwood couldn’t help but lower her head, staring at Jianjia sitting beside the dragon throne.
She used her dragon tail to rub the little one’s face, the tail tip brushing against Jianjia’s pink, tender cheek, like kneading dough:
“You really don’t seem like someone from the White Dragon Clan. We didn’t speak when we were little.”
But if that’s the case, this little one probably has no chance for the Saintess position of the White Dragon Clan.
The White Dragon Clan values pure blood more than other dragon clans.
Just like White Sandalwood herself now, seeing little Jianjia, she always feels she’s not quite fitting.
She should be standing by her side, wearing a little white dress and white shoes, cool and aloof, expressionless, quietly waiting for the Clan Leader.
Not like this, sitting on the ground throwing a tantrum.
Jianjia asked curiously, “Were all the White Dragon Clan mute when they were little?”
White Sandalwood: “???”
Footsteps came from outside the hall.
White Sandalwood looked up.
Three graceful, curvaceous figures appeared at the palace entrance.
The woman at the forefront had the most mature and voluptuous figure.
She wore a dark red long dress embroidered with intricate flame patterns that seemed to flow slowly with her steps.
Her face was charming, the corners of her eyes slightly upturned, carrying an air of worldly ease and laziness.
Most striking was her figure, her full hips swaying lightly, her waist slender, each step carrying the unique charm of a mature woman.
Behind her followed two other Red Dragons, equally curvaceous but with different temperaments.
“Hmm? Why are you here?” the leading mature woman asked with a laugh, her voice lazy and carrying a hint of mischief. “Where’s White Dew?”
Seeing this, White Orange quickly descended from the dragon throne and bowed:
“Ancestor Chi Yun. The Clan Leader went to the back hall with Young Lord Jiang. I’m temporarily handling affairs.”
Chi Yun wore an understanding expression.
She lightly moved her lotus steps, her full hips swaying gently as she sat on a nearby chair, crossing her legs.
The movement was lazy yet elegant, her skirt slipping to reveal a section of fair calf. She said with a smile:
“I see. Then I’ll sit here and wait a while. It should be over soon.”
White Sandalwood nodded slightly, shifting her gaze to the two dragons who had come with Chi Yun.
The two dragons stood together, the atmosphere seeming somewhat awkward.
Chi Ling looked straight ahead, gave White Sandalwood a slight nod, then moved to sit beside Chi Yun.
She placed her hands folded on her knees, expressionless, like an exquisite jade sculpture.
Chi Yun rested her cheek on her hand, watching these two juniors with interest, a smile playing at the corner of her mouth.
Chi Huang cupped her hands towards White Sandalwood, then quickly walked to Chi Lian’s side.
She wore the Saintess attire of the Red Dragon Clan, a fiery red long dress, a black jade and gold-inlaid belt at her waist, her long hair tied up high, adorned with a red gold hairpin.
She walked with considerable presence, her mature, pretty face carrying a youthful air of vigor.
She grumbled, her voice tinged with a bit of grievance:
“Why don’t you want to talk to me? You weren’t like this before.”
Chi Lian sat quietly to the side, her gaze fixed ahead, speaking softly:
“No, I’ve been talking all along.”
She paused. “I want to be quiet for a while.”
Treated like this, Chi Huang felt a surge of frustration.
All the way here, Chi Lian had been indifferent to her, occasionally uttering a few words to placate her.
It wasn’t like this before at all! But she was too embarrassed to bring up the past, lest it make her overthink things more.
“Young Miss need not overthink it.” Chi Lian added this sentence, then fell quiet again, staring blankly, lost in thought.
“What is this?” Chi Huang poked her arm, muttering, “Do you act like this in front of our honored master too?”
“I have always been respectful towards the Clan Leader.” Chi Lian replied without changing her expression.
“The Clan Leader will always be the Clan Leader.”
“Then I am the future Clan Leader.” Chi Huang said with a giggle, nudging Chi Lian’s arm. “You should show me some respect too.”
Chi Lian remained unmoved, still lost in thought.
Seeing the awkward silence between Chi Huang and Chi Lian, Chi Yun spoke with a laugh, her voice lazy and teasing:
“I’ve been listening for a while. So, you were the one who refused to marry at first, then changed your mind later and stole her man, right?”
She patted Chi Lian’s shoulder:
“No wonder she’s so angry. She should be.”
She paused, her smile deepening:
“If this were in our era, the two dragons would have already fought. There’s no logic to changing your mind.”
She leaned forward, her gaze shifting between the two dragons:
“Are you two going to fight?”
Chi Ling’s delicate body trembled.
Her beautiful eyes quickly glanced at the stiff-faced Chi Huang beside her, then just as quickly looked away.
“Ancestor…” Chi Huang whispered, her voice carrying a hint of embarrassment.
“The situation is different. Could you please not stir up trouble?”
She paused, her voice even lower. “Actually, my willingness back then wouldn’t have mattered anyway. He didn’t choose me at the time.”
Chi Yun leaned forward, surprised:
“He actually didn’t choose you? That explains it. He chose Chi Lian back then. So, aren’t you stealing your maid’s husband?”
Chi Huang shot a resentful look at Chi Yun:
“Ancestor, weren’t you right there at the time? Why are you acting like you don’t know?”
Chi Yun covered her mouth with a laugh, the smile full of mischief and amusement. She blinked, dragging out her tone:
“Then if you married over, would you still be the young miss? You two… who would call whom ‘older sister’?”
“Ancestor—!”
Chi Huang cried out, her voice full of complaint, her pretty face flushed red.
Just then—
The door to the back hall slowly opened.
Two figures walked out from the back hall.
White Dew walked in front.
She still wore an icy, cold expression, her lips lightly pursed, appearing somewhat aloof and distant.
That youthful face showed no extra emotion, as if nothing had just happened.
Only upon close inspection could one notice the faint pink still lingering at the roots of her ears.
Jiang Huai followed behind.
He seemed somewhat off—glancing towards White Dew’s direction from time to time, his gaze carrying a mix of complexity, reminiscence, and also… guilt.
Seeing this, little Jianjia quickly ran over!
The small figure rushed swiftly in front of White Dew, calling out happily:
“Mother!”
Seeing Jianjia run over, White Dew gave two light coughs, nodded slightly, her expression cold.
Seeing this, Jianjia couldn’t tell what her mother’s mood was like. She hesitated for a moment, then—
A flash of gray light.
The small figure instantly transformed into a little white dragon, swiftly climbing onto Jiang Huai’s shoulder, occupying her exclusive throne. She coiled into a ball, her little dragon head leaning close to Jiang Huai’s ear, whispering to him:
“Father, I think Mother’s mood seems bad. What did you two do?”
Jiang Huai stroked her little dragon horn, the movement gentle and natural. He whispered:
“I discussed some matters with your mother. She’s not angry.”
Jianjia whispered back, her tone carrying a hint of guilt:
“Is she angry because I secretly ran out from the cold pool? But I didn’t want to stay there. It’s a bit cold.”
White Dew’s gaze drifted over.
The look was faint, yet carried an undeniable aura.
Jianjia immediately fell silent, her little dragon head shrinking into the crook of Jiang Huai’s neck, only revealing a pair of obsidian-like eyes, secretly observing her mother’s expression.
Seeing Jiang Huai come out, Chi Lian quickly walked to his side.
She instinctively helped straighten his clothes—the movement natural and practiced, as if done a thousand times.
She lightly smoothed the wrinkles on his lapel, tidied the stray hair on his shoulder, the very picture of a virtuous wife and mother.
Chi Huang watched this scene from behind, a strange feeling welling up in her heart.
For a very long time in the past, Chi Lian had treated her exactly like this—helping her straighten her clothes, smoothing out her wrinkles, taking care of everything for her. Now, that position had been replaced by Jiang Huai.
It felt like… her maid had been invaded and taken away by Jiang Huai.
Chi Yun, meanwhile, was thoughtfully staring at White Dew’s lips and tail.
She stroked her chin, her gaze meaningful.
White Dew’s lips seemed more rosy than usual. And her tail—
That snow-white dragon tail was currently slightly curled, carrying a trace of barely noticeable trembling.
Chi Yun withdrew her gaze, the smile at the corner of her mouth deepening.
She asked White Dew, her voice turning serious again:
“You know about the Secret Realm matter, right? How do you plan to handle it? I see there are no traces of Extraterrestrial Demons for now, but demonic qi is emanating. There must be demons inside.”
White Dew gave her a slight nod, just about to speak—
Jiang Huai stepped forward first, answering:
“We know about this matter. We plan to send a few people in first to investigate. If that doesn’t work, then I’ll lead a team in.”
He looked at Chi Yun, his gaze serious. “I’ll trouble you, Senior, to arrange some suitable people to go first.”
Hearing this, Chi Yun seemed thoughtful.
She stood up, the movement lazy and elegant. She smiled:
“That would be good then. I’ll go arrange personnel now to explore the Secret Realm.”
She turned to the two dragons behind her. “Lian’er, Huang’er. Come with me to take a look.”
Chi Lian tugged hard on Jiang Huai’s belt—the movement was light, yet carried a hint of reluctance.
Then she turned and left, following Chi Yun’s steps.
Chi Huang waved happily at Jiang Huai and also left together.
The three figures gradually faded into the distance.
White Dew and Jiang Huai placed the reluctant Jianjia on the dragon throne, then followed White Sandalwood to see them off.
Outside the White Dragon Hall.
No one was around.
White Dew glanced guiltily inside the hall—confirming no eyes were upon them, she stood in front of Jiang Huai and slowly opened her mouth.
It wasn’t just a little.
The entire palm was filled.
Emanating the aura belonging to the Yin-Yang Body.
