“Mom, can I have this book?”
It was bedtime story hour.
Rosily looked at the book in Enya’s hands with eyes full of longing.
Enya hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
She had done this before—manifesting the knowledge in her mind into the form of a book and giving it to others.
It wasn’t difficult for her, so there was no reason to refuse.
Getting the affirmative, Rosily was overjoyed and immediately reached out to take it, but Enya lifted the book higher, just enough to keep it out of the small hands’ reach.
She shot Rosily a mild glare.
“Time to sleep. You can read it tomorrow. You’re not getting it tonight.”
“Wuuu~”
Rosily pouted.
She really wanted it tonight, but Enya wasn’t someone who easily changed her mind.
So, Rosily had no choice but to obediently lie down.
Enya placed the book on the bedside cabinet.
After extinguishing the room’s magical lamp, she returned to the bedside.
Sitting down, she gently pulled the blanket up over Rosily and then lay down sideways next to her.
Rosily suddenly wiggled over and, turning her face toward Enya, burrowed right into her mother’s arms without hesitation.
Sleeping in Mama’s embrace gave her the greatest sense of security.
After all, it was a privilege that only she had!
Rosily, satisfied and content, soon drifted off to sleep.
Enya, however, continued to silently watch her daughter’s peaceful face.
She wasn’t really tired—her body was strong enough to go a month without sleep.
With the boost from her draconic bloodline, she had long since surpassed the limits of a human being.
She gently stroked her daughter’s hair and closed her eyes.
Even though her body wasn’t fatigued, she still chose to sleep for a while each day—just as people don’t only eat when they’re starving.
Decades of life had built that habit.
Sleep didn’t just relieve the mind; it also soothed the soul’s pain.
The night deepened.
Dark clouds slowly blanketed the sky above Redpine City.
Before long, raindrops began to fall, becoming the quiet rhythm of the night.
No one knew how much time passed before the drizzle finally stopped.
Suddenly, Enya’s heart trembled.
A strange sensation of being watched crept up from behind.
The moment she felt it, Enya instantly awakened from her sleep, frowning deeply.
Her golden-red, vertical pupils opened, glowing faintly.
She didn’t turn around right away.
Instead, she carefully unwrapped her arms from Rosily to make sure her daughter was still asleep, then slowly sat up.
When she looked toward the window where the cool breeze came in, a small figure stood before her.
The girl wore ragged clothing.
Her hair was ashen and dry like straw, and her face was sickly pale.
Enya recognized her.
It was the same girl she had saved on a whim earlier.
The girl gave a faint smile, slowly parting her lips to say in a soft, deliberate voice:
“I thought you’d get rid of that child… but you actually gave birth to her.”
“……”
Enya’s heart sank to the bottom in an instant.
This person had infiltrated the core of her dream world without her even noticing—and she didn’t strike immediately.
Instead, she deliberately woke Enya up.
And what the girl said just now made Enya almost instantly identify her.
She was that mysterious blonde woman—the one who had ruined her life.
Enya moved to leap up and strangle the intruder right then and there, but her body wouldn’t respond.
A halo appeared above her head, and even then, she couldn’t shake the paralysis.
This meant the control wasn’t mental—it was a physical override.
Enya gritted her teeth tightly, trying to force her body to move with sheer strength—but she couldn’t even twitch.
She could only glare at the gray-haired girl with her glowing dragon-pupil eyes.
The girl smiled, baring her teeth.
“Already a mother, yet still as impulsive as ever?”
As she spoke, her hand gently caressed Enya’s cheek—an unnervingly soft gesture meant to soothe the fury burning inside her.
But it didn’t help.
It only added fuel to the fire.
Enya’s face darkened even more.
She glared at the girl with even fiercer rage.
She couldn’t even speak—could only endure as the girl touched her.
Rosily was right behind her!
“Relax. I won’t hurt you. And I won’t hurt that little one either. You lost last time, so now you belong to me.”
“Rosily, right? Our child~”
The girl clearly sensed what Enya was thinking, and that last sentence nearly made Enya crack her teeth from clenching so hard.
Inside, she was already screaming every vile curse she could think of:
Shameless! Filthy! Disgusting! Bastard—you deserve to die!
The girl walked around Enya and glanced at the sleeping Rosily.
Perhaps sensing the absence of her mother’s warmth, the child stirred a little uneasily in her sleep.
The girl turned back to Enya and gently guided her face to look straight at her.
Her pale brown eyes burned with intense affection and desire as they met Enya’s.
The scorching emotion shocked Enya—her eyes even betrayed a hint of fear.
The girl’s rough hand cupped Enya’s cheek, and their foreheads touched.
She closed her eyes and lowered her voice to a whisper, as if afraid to wake the sleeping child.
She spoke to Enya in a gentle murmur:
“Enya… very soon, I’ll return to the real world. When that happens, we’ll be together again—as a family. Very soon, truly very soon. You must wait for me. Wait for me to come find you.”
“……”
Enya didn’t understand why she was saying these things.
She didn’t want to see her.
Get out.
Get out.
Stay far away from me and my daughter—forever, if possible!
But she couldn’t voice her refusal.
She could only silently endure this one-sided promise from the wicked woman.
Suddenly, Enya felt her body start to move again.
Her breathing quickened, and fury surged through her.
The moment she regained control, she reached out and seized the girl’s slender neck, slamming her to the ground.
Wearing nothing but a thin nightgown, the beautiful Dragon Lady pinned her intruder down.
Her smooth, flawless white arms gripped the girl’s neck tightly as she straddled her.
Enya’s gorgeous face was flushed with rage, her well-shaped body trembling slightly.
Her breath came in short gasps, and her striking golden-red slit pupils shimmered with unshed tears.
She was furious.
She had the girl pinned down beneath her and could have unleashed her rage with fists—but that calm, mocking smile on the girl’s face nearly made her pass out with anger.
Snapping her neck would’ve taken only the slightest effort.
But so what?
No matter what she did, it wouldn’t make a dent in this wicked woman’s real body!
Glaring into the girl’s eyes, Enya asked weakly:
“Who… are you really…?”
The girl didn’t answer.
Instead, she raised her hand and gently wiped away the tear at the corner of Enya’s eye.
Then, as if all strength had left her, her arm dropped limply to her side.
The light faded from her eyes.
“You—”
Enya’s grip tightened slightly, ready to demand an answer at last—but then she remembered her daughter was still asleep behind her.
She bit her tongue and stayed silent, watching helplessly as the wicked woman’s will withdrew from the vessel she had possessed.
Only then did Enya notice something terrifying—her own arms were now covered in black scales, her fingers had transformed into dragon claws, and even her legs had undergone the same change.
Her tail had grown noticeably thicker.
Her dragonification had advanced again!
“Dragon… Dragon blood? She can control the dragon blood inside me?!”
