Bush, what’s going on?!
Why did a crying little girl hug me the moment I came out?
Why is she crying, and why is she asking me to save her?
And the most crucial point is…
She can actually see me!
And even touched me!
This is completely unreasonable!
Why can a clear-cut ordinary little girl touch me, a spirit body?!
Don’t tell me I was summoned into some weird worldline?!
Ling Xiaoyou’s mind was a tangled mess, but she still maintained her awareness as an adult.
Even with her brain in chaos, she lowered her head and gently comforted the tearful little girl:
“It’s okay, it’s okay, big sis is here. With me here, you don’t have to be afraid.”
Under Ling Xiaoyou’s clear and soothing voice, the little girl quickly stopped crying, but still sobbed as she wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.
Taking the opportunity, Ling Xiaoyou gently patted the little girl’s head to comfort her, while also looking around to see where she had been summoned.
And when she saw the environment clearly, Ling Xiaoyou froze for a moment, completely unexpected that the place she was summoned to would be here.
The place was dimly lit, with a single hanging lamp above barely illuminating the surroundings.
Solid concrete walls encased the space, and on the surrounding shelves were objects like Emergency Rations, Medical Kits, Power Supply, and Communication Devices.
In the center stood a not-so-large folding plastic table, quietly placed there, with a paper filled with symbols for the Summoning Pen Spirit and a ballpoint pen on top, making it stand out.
It was obvious this was an Underground Shelter, probably built by some family to prepare for disasters.
Ling Xiaoyou furrowed her delicate brows in confusion, glancing behind her.
There stood a two-meter-tall Iron Door.
Judging from its thickness, Ling Xiaoyou had no doubt that even if the house above collapsed, this massive Iron Door would remain unscathed.
There was a thick iron bar in the middle of the door.
Just one glance and Ling Xiaoyou understood it was used to lock the door from the inside.
At this moment, the iron bar lock was tightly fastened, sealing off the Underground Shelter from the outside world.
Did the little girl come to the shelter at home to play a Summoning Pen Spirit game, accidentally locked the door, and couldn’t get out, so she cried and asked for help?
Ling Xiaoyou pinched her smooth little chin, guessing as she prepared to ask the girl more questions.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of leather shoes stepping outside the Iron Door.
Perhaps because the Iron Door was so thick, the sound transmission was muffled, making the footsteps sound heavy—as if some terrifying creature disguised as a human was slowly approaching.
Is it the little girl’s family?
Did they come searching here after realizing she was missing?
Thinking of this possibility, Ling Xiaoyou was about to call out to the person outside.
But the words stuck in her throat as she noticed the little girl’s expression suddenly change.
Unlike before, though her face was still red and tear-stained, now her expression was filled with terror—as if she’d seen a great Monster approaching.
Seeing the girl’s face, Ling Xiaoyou was stunned.
This wasn’t how she’d imagined it.
Shouldn’t hearing family footsteps bring relief?
Could it be that the person outside wasn’t her family?
Ling Xiaoyou’s expression grew serious, and the little girl’s next trembling, fear-filled words confirmed her suspicion:
“Pen Fairy sister, the Monster outside wants to take me away. My Mom has already been taken by him…”
As she spoke, tears fell again from the girl’s eyes.
She looked up at Ling Xiaoyou with wet, wide eyes, tugging at her clothes, not caring at all about Ling Xiaoyou’s ghostly appearance beneath her long hair.
“Pen Fairy sister, please save me. Save my Mom!”
Ling Xiaoyou fell silent.
Logic told her this might just be the little girl’s imagination, not reality.
But a voice inside told her everything the child said was true.
After all, this girl had shown many extraordinary things from the start, like being able to see and even touch her.
No ordinary child could do that.
The silence lasted only a few seconds.
Ling Xiaoyou let out a long sigh and helplessly ruffled the girl’s hair.
Even if it was fake, so what?
As the summoned Pen Fairy, she had to grant the child’s wish.
And if it really was fake, that would be a cause for celebration!
“Don’t worry, I’ll help you.”
Ling Xiaoyou brushed aside the hair covering her face, revealing her delicate and cute features, and looked at the girl seriously.
Gazing at her porcelain-doll face, the little girl was stunned for a moment before her expression gradually calmed.
“Then, can you explain in detail…”
Ling Xiaoyou was about to ask more about what had happened, but suddenly the footsteps outside stopped.
Judging by the earlier sounds, it was clear the person had reached the door of the Underground Shelter.
“Dear Xiaoyu, you’re not being obedient. Didn’t uncle say he’d take you to find your Mom?”
“Why are you hiding here now? You really made me search for you.”
Ling Xiaoyou noticed the little girl, called Xiaoyu by the man outside, cover her mouth in fear, not daring to make a sound.
“Come on, open the door. Uncle will take you to see your Mom. You’ll be reunited soon.”
The voice outside came again, still dripping with feigned gentleness, making Ling Xiaoyou feel disgusted.
Even so, Ling Xiaoyou remained calm and thoughtful.
This man outside was the ‘Monster’ Xiaoyu spoke of.
She wondered if the term was an exaggeration or completely accurate.
As Ling Xiaoyou pondered, the voice outside suddenly paused.
In its place came a sound that, even muffled by the Iron Door, was clearly someone sniffing the air.
“This scent… Looks like Xiaoyu summoned something strange while I was away.”
Something strange?
Who are you calling strange!
You’re the strange one!
Hearing this, Ling Xiaoyou instantly puffed up with anger, wanting to retort and scold the hateful man outside.
But before she could act, the man’s voice came again:
“Judging by the aura, is it a ghost from Eastern Radiance? But it seems to only be at the Condensation Stage.”
“Should I say, as expected of a Spirit Nurturer? To summon reinforcements in such a short time—even if it’s just a little ghost of the Condensation Stage—it’s truly worthy of that title.”
