After teasing Shen Xiyan, Qin Sheng considered her daily mission complete.
Most college students operated on a simple daily loop:
Study (0/1), Eat (5/3).
But for Shen Xiyan and Qin Sheng, it went more like:
Study (1/1), Eat (1/3), Doi (7/1).
Words of affection never quite felt straightforward enough.
When feelings ran deep, intimacy naturally followed.
And sometimes, the only way to release all that pent-up affection… was through the most intimate touch.
On the way home, Qin Sheng quietly tucked herself into Shen Xiyan’s shadow.
Moments like this didn’t need words.
Even if the world around them buzzed with noise, she felt like everything had gone still—only her heartbeat remained.
That… was the sound of happiness.
Shen Xiyan glanced at her and said coolly, “Pack up those ridiculous, chaotic thoughts of yours.”
“What ridiculous thoughts?” she blinked innocently.
“You know exactly what I mean.”
Qin Sheng’s smile turned sultry, her eyes practically shimmering.
She bit her lip lightly and cooed, “Aww… you’re accusing me again… I didn’t even—”
“Your eyes already gave you away.”
They locked eyes.
Neither willing to back down.
Big eyes stared into big eyes, both refusing to blink—until they simultaneously looked away and fell into a loaded silence.
The night breeze brushed their cheeks with a subtle chill.
Qin Sheng moved in front of him again, pouted, and asked,
“Then can you guess what I’m thinking right now?”
Shen Xiyan scoffed, “You want to go home.”
“Ugh, you’re the worst!”
She gave him a playful smack.
“Wait here for me—I’m heading into the convenience store for a bit.”
Before he could respond, Qin Sheng darted inside like she was afraid he might follow.
“Hi there, what are you looking for?” the store clerk asked.
“Just some snacks,” she said, grabbing a basket.
She loaded it up, then discreetly added the two items she’d scouted earlier: a pack of gum and… condoms.
Really, all she needed were the condoms.
But the walls were glass. Shen Xiyan was watching from outside.
Buying just that would be way too obvious.
So—plan B: blow a bubble with the gum as she left, keep it casual. He’d never suspect.
“Miss… you grabbed the wrong one. That’s not—”
“No, it’s right. Ring it up.”
This was her final insurance policy.
Not that she particularly liked doing this.
If she went step by step, things would progress naturally. But she couldn’t wait.
She needed to cut through the nonsense and go straight for the kill.
Never trust a man’s mouth—his true self hides in his pants.
No matter how much he acts like he hates you, when the time comes, he’ll still rise to the occasion.
This was the final straw that would break the camel’s back.
She wasn’t going to get pregnant anyway.
So why not try?
Because let’s be honest—at Shen Xiyan’s current level of emotional repression, just the thought of pregnancy would send him running for the hills.
But once she had him, he’d never get away again.
“You really didn’t have to buy this many, you know?”
The cashier was stunned.
Ribbed, dotted, spiral, warming—she’d cleared the whole shelf.
What kind of girl needed this much?
Even if it were for business… was she sure she could handle it?
Qin Sheng, in an excellent mood, gave a “shy” smile.
“My boyfriend’s… got a bit of a high drive.”
The cashier followed her finger to the window—and locked eyes with Shen Xiyan.
Tall. Lean. Handsome. But could he really be that powerful?
Electric motor in human form?
She didn’t say another word, just rang up the items silently.
Years later, when she was stuck with a husband who did two hours of foreplay and three minutes of action, she’d remember this moment… and sigh: What’s the point of all that height if you can’t match a high schooler?
Qin Sheng walked out of the store carrying a large bag.
Shen Xiyan raised a brow.
“You know the cashier?”
“Nope.”
“Then what were you two talking about?”
He had a nagging suspicion they were up to something.
They kept glancing at him and giggling behind their hands like teenagers sharing a dirty joke.
The kind of thing that made you feel like the whole school was laughing at you during morning exercises—only to discover someone had drawn a turtle on your back.
“She said it’s dangerous for a girl to be out this late. I told her I had my boyfriend with me, and she said he’s really handsome. That’s all.”
“And what did you buy?”
Qin Sheng blew a bubble.
“Snacks. Gotta have something to eat tomorrow, right?”
“Honestly, your house is severely under-snacked. The fridge has like… one piece of fruit. Totally unacceptable.”
“I get that you’re trying to save money, and that’s fine for you—you’re a guy, and a brother—but Wenwen’s a girl. Girls need snacks.”
“This is the stage in life where cravings are real. If she doesn’t eat now, even when she grows up and can afford everything, she won’t feel like it anymore.”
“Why don’t you just borrow some money from me? So Wenwen can have a decent everyday life?”
“No need.”
“I know what you’re worried about. But tell me—am I wrong? Are you going to let your pride stop your sister from living well?”
“It’s not even my money—it’s a loan. You can pay me back after you start working. Isn’t a brother supposed to take care of his sister?”
She shrugged.
“It’s fine if you don’t agree. I can’t do anything about your aunt, but Wenwen? Worst case, I’ll take her shopping on the weekends and make up for all the years she missed out on.”
Shen Xiyan nodded.
“Yeah… using your dad’s money.”
“My dad’s money is my money. Just like you use your aunt’s money. What, you don’t feel guilty about that?”
“Don’t be a hypocrite just because the numbers are different.”
“Besides, it’s not even for me—it’s for that mother and son duo. I’m not happy about it either.”
Shen Xiyan went quiet.
They always cared about different things.
In the past life, and again in this one.
This kind of bottomless kindness—he couldn’t accept it.
Sensing his mood shift, Qin Sheng quickly added, “I’m not trying to show off or pressure you. But with our relationship, things shouldn’t be so divided.”
“Enough,” Shen Xiyan cut her off. “We don’t have a relationship.”
He took the bag from her hand and walked ahead.
“Shen Xiyan!”
Qin Sheng fumed.
She couldn’t find anything throwable nearby. A rock felt too harsh.
So she pulled a pack of gum from her pocket and smack!—nailed him in the back of the head.
He stopped, turned slowly, and gave her a look.
“Are you five?”
On the surface, she looked apologetic.
But her eyes sparkled with pure mischief: That’s what you get for messing with me!
He didn’t want to keep reading her expressions, but after ten years of history, it was second nature.
Sighing, he bent down, picked up the gum, and stuffed it in his pocket.
Qin Sheng panicked.
“Hey! Give that back!”
“I picked it up. Does it have your name on it?”
He ignored her.
So she tried to grab it. But she wasn’t strong enough to pry his hand from his pocket.
In desperation, she shoved her hand in there too.
“Give it back! Give it back!”
If Shen Xiyan realized what she’d accidentally thrown at him, she’d be doomed.
Qin Sheng, what the hell were you thinking?!
She should’ve thrown a bra instead. Anything but that.
“Get off me!”
Shen Xiyan clenched his fist tightly, but Qin Sheng wormed her fingers in, one by one prying him open—until they accidentally brushed against his palm.
Slightly damp. Warm. Electric.
They both froze.
He dropped the “gum.”
“What kind of reaction was that? I’m telling Aunt Jiang you bullied me!”
Her plan was to fake innocence: “good girl assaulted by bad boy.”
But the moment she saw Shen Xiyan already playing the victim—“good boy molested by shameless girl”—she almost exploded.
What, did I have poop on my hands or something?!
“Do whatever you want.”
“SHEN XIYAN!!”
He didn’t respond, just walked ahead again.
But his palm still tingled with the memory of her touch…
