Chapter 30: Hello, Ms. Jiang

For two whole days, Wang Ziyue never contacted Jiang Cheng.

Likewise, Jiang Cheng never sent a single message.

The two entered a strange “cold war.”

Today was the onboarding day for the new company’s employees. 

Wang Ziyue woke up just past six.

While brushing her teeth at the vanity, she noticed a red pimple on her forehead.

She had been getting really heated lately… She lightly applied concealer to cover it, then put on lipstick and drew her brows.

From the wardrobe, she first picked a moon-white women’s suit, thought better of it, and changed to black. 

Finally, she donned oversized black sunglasses and left the house.

The brilliant sunshine announced the rising temperatures.

She checked the weather, sighed, went back inside, and changed into a black chiffon blouse with a caramel half-skirt, accented by a metallic belt.

She started the car and drove toward the core district of the new city.

Even in flat shoes, Wang Ziyue strode into the lobby with an aura that commanded the entire room.

Director Chen, who had been waiting early, hurried over and greeted her respectfully—although Wang Ziyue was younger and less experienced, Director Chen dared not put on any airs.

Nancheng Properties was nominally a subsidiary of the main group, but in reality, it was under Wang Ziyue’s command, and she personally held the position of general manager. 

This showed how much she valued it.

So, Director Chen, as the administrative director, was essentially reporting to the big boss.

“Secretary Fang contacted us earlier, saying President Wang wanted to hold a welcome event.”

“Mm.” 

Wang Ziyue nodded, though inwardly she wondered if that was exactly what she had told Secretary Fang.

“We’ve prepared the gifts as Secretary Fang instructed. Also, the dinner venue for tonight’s welcome party is booked—at Lihua Hotel.”

Hearing the hotel name, Wang Ziyue’s heart skipped a beat. 

She gave Director Chen a thoughtful glance.

Chen Ling felt chills under that gaze. 

Had she made a mistake?

“Well done.” 

Wang Ziyue praised mildly.

Chen Ling’s mood swung like a rollercoaster.

“Also, President Wang, will you be giving a speech later?”

“No need… Just distribute the gifts and arrange everyone’s seats. For work assignments, let each department handle it themselves. Have the finance manager come see me. Oh, and among the new employees, there’s one named Jiang Xiaoyue—have her come to my office a bit later.”

After giving instructions, Wang Ziyue took the exclusive elevator to her office. 

On the way, she passed the secretarial area, where Secretary Fang was briefing two newly hired secretaries.

Wang Ziyue would be coming to Nancheng Properties frequently from now on. 

Secretary Fang alone couldn’t manage everything, and the other secretaries from the president’s office couldn’t be moved easily, so they had to recruit new ones.

She walked over and tapped the desk beside Secretary Fang.

Secretary Fang looked up, quickly greeted her, and the two new hires followed suit.

“Mm… You two familiarize yourselves with the work first.”

Wang Ziyue called Secretary Fang into the office. Instead of sitting immediately, she suddenly turned back to look at Secretary Fang.

With deep meaning.

“President Wang… Do you have any instructions?” 

Secretary Fang began mentally reviewing her outfit and the emails she had replied to yesterday, finding nothing wrong.

“The welcome party?” 

Wang Ziyue glanced at the office decor—it still matched her taste.

Only the single rose on the desk was an eyesore.

“Shall I have logistics replace it with another flower?”

“Forget it, leave it.”

“Yes, President Wang.” 

Secretary Fang lowered her head, thinking she would ask Secretary Mo for advice after work.

President Wang’s emotions had been fluctuating a lot lately.

“And the dinner tonight…”

“Just like that. Do… do I have any other engagements tonight?” Wang Ziyue hesitated for a moment.

“You have nothing else tonight.” 

Secretary Fang opened the schedule on her phone; it was a rare free evening.

“Mm… Nothing else. You can go.”

Secretary Fang had been waiting for Wang Ziyue to say she would attend the dinner, but in the end, she was just dismissed.

Fine, never try to guess the boss’s thoughts.

Secretary Fang closed the door and left. 

She happened to see the two young faces at the workstations look up.

Newbies were still the cutest.

She walked over, spoke gently to them, then suddenly added, “You don’t need to be too good at reading faces~”

The new secretaries exchanged glances, clearly thinking Secretary Fang was joking.

Jiang Xiaoyue arrived at the company right on time. 

Though the commute was much longer than her previous job, the thought of a 30% salary increase filled her with uncontainable joy.

Life with Xiao Cheng would get better and better.

She would carry her husband’s share too, watching Xiao Cheng go to college, graduate, work, and finally find a good home.

After cheering herself up inwardly, Jiang Xiaoyue swiped her card and entered the standalone office building.

Though the company was newly established, backed by a large group, it had spared no expense on infrastructure.

While waiting for the elevator, she saw many other new hires like herself. 

Everyone nodded and smiled in greeting.

The marketing department was on the 20th floor… Above that were the executive offices and the general manager’s office.

As the elevator rose floor by floor, Jiang Xiaoyue felt her future brightening step by step.

Ding— What greeted her was a silver-white office area and… the HR manager she had met during the interview, along with an unfamiliar woman.

Jiang Xiaoyue glanced at the badge hanging on her.

A senior executive? 

Jiang Xiaoyue hesitated whether to greet her, but the HR manager gave her a look and whispered something to Chen Ling.

Then Jiang Xiaoyue watched Chen Ling approach with a warm smile.

“D-Director Chen, hello.” 

Jiang Xiaoyue stepped forward; from the corner of her eye, there was no one else.

It seemed she was the only one reporting to marketing today.

“Hello, Ms. Jiang. Welcome to Nancheng Properties.”

“Thank you. Director Chen, you were looking for me…” 

Jiang Xiaoyue’s nerves gradually calmed. 

She inwardly marveled that it truly was a big company—the leaders were approachable and even personally welcomed new employees.

“Today, it’s not me looking for you; our general manager wants to see you.” 

Chen Ling teased, secretly observing Jiang Xiaoyue, wondering why she had caught President Wang’s attention.

Being called to the general manager’s office on the first day—her future was limitless.

“Ah…” Jiang Xiaoyue grew nervous again. She had just joined; how could the general manager possibly know her?

In such a large company, there were countless people at her level. 

Why single her out for a talk?

“Don’t worry, President Wang is very friendly to subordinates. I’ll take you up in a bit. First, go meet your colleagues.”

Chen Ling patted Jiang Xiaoyue’s shoulder, making her even more tense.

She first placed her bag at her workstation and introduced herself to the team.

The marketing department was divided into several sub-departments. 

Jiang Xiaoyue’s group handled market research, and the small team she led focused on market outlook investigations.

“Group Leader Jiang… I saw you come in with Director Chen earlier?” 

Next to Jiang Xiaoyue was a plump woman named Ma Lin, whose features all rounded into a smile.

“Mm, she wanted to talk to me.” 

Jiang Xiaoyue frowned, not saying more.

Ma Lin wanted to ask further, but the HR manager came to call Jiang Xiaoyue. 

The two headed toward the elevator.

“Let’s go. President Wang is free now; we’re heading up.”

The three entered the elevator. 

Jiang Xiaoyue was about to press the floor button when the HR manager pressed it first.

Jiang Xiaoyue watched the floor numbers climb.

The elevator reached the top floor.

The office area was vast but sparsely populated. Only two secretaries could be seen outside organizing files. 

Upon seeing them, one walked over.

“Is President Wang free now?” 

Chen Ling pointed toward the general manager’s office.

“Yes, President Wang said to go straight in.” 

The new young secretary smiled.

“Good.” 

Chen Ling smiled back, leading Jiang Xiaoyue alone to the office door. 

She raised her hand and knocked.

“Come in.” 

A lazy female voice came from inside.

Jiang Xiaoyue watched the door slowly open. 

A head of golden long hair entered her sight first.

She suddenly had a bad premonition—

No way?!

As the chair turned, revealing that cold, glamorous face, Jiang Xiaoyue’s scalp went numb.

“Ms. Jiang, hello.” 

Wang Ziyue smiled faintly.
