Sigh, Luo Shuangyue did want to turn into a hungry wolf, but her physical condition was what it was—she couldn’t transform even if she wanted to.
Everything had become nothing more than a ridiculous fantasy.
All she could do now was hold Xia Mo’s head close and watch as the girl slowly closed her eyes and began breathing steadily in her arms.
“She really doesn’t have any defenses against me at all…” Luo Shuangyue sighed internally.
She gently laid Xia Mo down flat, then went to her own room to fetch a blanket and covered Xia Mo with it.
After that, she quietly got up and walked into the kitchen to start preparing dinner for the two girls of the house.
As the sun gradually set and the sky turned a brilliant golden hue, Luo Shuangxing opened the door right on time.
“Brother, tonight…”
The moment she walked in, she cheerfully greeted Luo Shuangyue and was about to ask what they were having for dinner.
But just as she started to speak, she saw her older brother making a “shush” gesture at her.
“Keep your voice down, Xia Mo’s resting.”
Luo Shuangxing tiptoed and peeked toward the living room.
Her expression instantly turned ambiguous.
That blanket—wasn’t it from her brother’s room?
Why was it now covering Sister Xia Mo?
With that thought in mind, she swiftly slipped over to Luo Shuangyue’s side and took a deep sniff of him—twice.
“Hmm, smells like Sister Xia Mo. Did you two do something R-rated behind my back?”
Before she even finished speaking, a “hand chop” full of brotherly love landed on Luo Shuangxing’s head.
“You’re the most R-rated thing in this house. Can you act a little more innocent?”
Luo Shuangyue scolded, pushing his sister out of the kitchen.
How could he possibly smell like Xia Mo?
Even if there had been any scent on him earlier, it would’ve been drowned out by the smell of cooking by now.
Luo Shuangxing didn’t get angry after being kicked out of the kitchen.
Instead, she stuck out her tongue at him and said,
“I wasn’t wrong though. You do smell like a pretty girl.”
Are you a dog or something?
You can smell pretty girls now?
Luo Shuangyue was speechless.
Pretty girl scent, yeah right—it’s just shampoo, body wash, and laundry detergent!
What, do you think every pretty girl naturally smells fragrant?
“I only smell like food, you greedy little cat.”
“Pfft, believe what you want. But I’ve got a super sensitive nose, you know. If you ever hook up with a vixen out there, I’ll sniff it out right away.”
Luo Shuangxing crossed her arms proudly.
“Please, have a little respect for your brother’s character. Thank you.”
“Oh right, with your looks, I guess it wouldn’t be a vixen that comes after you, but more like—”
Before Luo Shuangxing could spout any more profanities, Luo Shuangyue quickly slammed the kitchen door shut.
Right before it closed, he still managed to throw one final word at his sister: “Scram!”
Hmph, someone’s embarrassed, Luo Shuangxing snorted inwardly.
But she hadn’t been exaggerating earlier.
Ever since becoming a magical girl, her sensory abilities had improved dramatically.
She could now detect even the faintest scents that she never could before.
Calling her nose canine-level wasn’t an overstatement at all.
With that thought, a mischievous idea popped into her mind.
She had to find out if her brother’s scent really matched that of Sister Xia Mo.
After all, she and Xia Mo were both girls. Getting a little closer to “analyze” her scent wasn’t anything outrageous.
Even if Xia Mo suddenly woke up, it wouldn’t really matter.
“Hehehe, bad brother, once I have the evidence, you’re done for!”
Tiptoeing over and creeping up to Xia Mo like a thief, Luo Shuangxing leaned her head slightly closer.
A faint, refreshing scent entered her nostrils—one that instantly made her feel more alert.
Her eyes suddenly went wide.
Not the same!
The scent on her brother was completely different from the one on Sister Xia Mo!
Luo Shuangxing suddenly stood up and ran with quick steps to the kitchen door, wanting to open it and ask her brother what was going on—why did the scent on him differ from Xia Mo’s?
But just as her hand reached the door, she froze.
No, no— judging by how calm and open her brother looked just now, he clearly had nothing to hide. If she questioned him directly, not only would she fail to get any real answers, she might even stir up unnecessary drama.
And if it turned out she was wrong in the end… how embarrassing would that be?
So—she couldn’t ask!
At least, not until she had solid evidence.
Pacing back and forth before finally sitting down in a dining chair, Luo Shuangxing propped her chin on her hand, her cute eyebrows furrowed tightly together.
Could it be… my brother is secretly a scumbag?
Was he stringing along Sister Xia Mo at home, while keeping some vixen on the side?
And that vixen must’ve had prolonged contact with him to leave her scent lingering on him for so long…
The more she thought about it, the more suspicious everything seemed.
But her brother really didn’t look like the playboy type.
Could it just be his own scent?
That idea was immediately dismissed.
The scent of men and women had distinct differences—there was no way she’d make such a rookie mistake.
The scent on her brother definitely belonged to a girl.
But if that was his scent… didn’t that mean her brother was a girl?
Impossible! She had confirmed with her own eyes when they were kids that her brother was very much her brother.
What, had he gone through some kind of metamorphosis over the years and transformed into a sister?
He wasn’t some caterpillar going through a cocoon stage to become a butterfly.
“So it really is a vixen trying to steal my brother, huh?”
Clatter!
The kitchen door swung open.
“Shuangxing, come take out the plates. Dinner’s ready.”
“Coming!”
Luo Shuangxing quickly got to her feet.
She had to act totally normal so her brother wouldn’t notice she had picked up on something strange.
But as soon as she got close to him, she couldn’t help herself—she leaned in again to sniff.
Hmm… the food smells are interfering a bit, but yes—it’s definitely different from Sister Xia Mo’s scent!
And this scent? It was clearly from a girl—the kind that’s very pretty, with a cold and aloof personality.
“What are you doing? Have you really turned into a dog?”
Luo Shuangyue lifted his arm and sniffed himself curiously.
Do I really smell like something?
He wondered.
But everything smelled normal to him.
“It’s nothing. Just double-checking something,” Luo Shuangxing shook her head, though in her heart, she had already made up her mind.
Hmph.
Whoever that mysterious vixen is… I will find you.
