The Kill Hall Master pondered Enya’s question, but as he thought, he seemed to forget what she had asked. Lifting his Horse-Chopping Long Blade while mounted on his Blood Horse, he charged at Enya without fear of death.
Enya narrowed her eyes slightly.
She saw a Memory Break on the Kill Hall Master, along with some Prohibition taking effect on him.
A force capable of affecting a Half-Step Eighth Rank powerhouse was definitely not weak. It might even rival Enya’s own strength—a hidden existence not to be underestimated.
In this world, besides the publicly renowned powerhouses, there were also hidden experts who hadn’t shown themselves for decades or even centuries.
These people were collectively known as Hidden Existences.
Who could it be?
Enya passed the Kill Hall Master once more, turned her Nightmare Warhorse around, and looked at him. In their last clash, she had directly severed one of his arms.
Silver Sword Qi burned like flames, eroding and consuming the Kill Hall Master’s Magic Power and his very being.
Yet even after losing an arm, the Kill Hall Master didn’t utter a single groan. He switched hands to grip the Blood-Colored Long Blade and spurred his horse forward, charging at Enya without fear.
“Hmph.”
Enya snorted lightly, dropped the shattered longsword in her hand, and pulled out another one.
After that, she lifted the reins of her Nightmare Warhorse.
The pitch-black horse, with its fangs bared, raised its front hooves and then rushed fiercely at the Kill Hall Master. Her silver hair stood out starkly in the dark red battlefield, like a pure guiding light.
This time, Enya showed no more mercy.
The Kill Hall Master’s perspective spun through the air. He knew his blade had been cut, and his head had been severed along with it.
Even in the face of death, he felt an unprecedented sense of exhilaration. At that moment, he finally recalled his earliest memory.
It seemed to be a battle like this one, but back then it was against a human army—a war with no chance of victory. He had decided to fight until the very end then, too.
So, his head was chopped off. As his spinning vision came to a halt, time froze. A figure in a gray robe with a blurry face walked unhurriedly up to the Kill Hall Master.
He reached out and plucked that segment of history, like tearing a page out of a history book—effortless and simple for him.
The Kill Hall Master remembered now, but he could no longer tell Enya. He could only watch her charming silhouette riding across the battlefield.
Enya rode her Nightmare Warhorse through the unceasing carnage, encountering no obstacles, until she reached the Blood-Red Long Blade stuck in the ground.
She dismounted and reached out to grip the blade’s handle.
The blood threads on it tried to burrow into her arm, but they couldn’t penetrate at all.
With a slight effort, she pulled the blade straight out of the ground, along with the root-like, thread-like things attached.
The Blood-Red Long Blade seemed to understand that it could not defy her. It quickly sucked back all the Blood-Colored Knights and the blood plasma covering the bones.
After withdrawing the blood, the blade shrank under Enya’s control, transforming from a Horse-Chopping Long Blade into an ordinary katana.
“Not a bad thing, but it doesn’t suit me. Still, bringing it back to Henna—no, to Lilith—would make a nice gift. She’ll probably love it, right?”
Enya gave a mischievous smile.
As the Blood-Colored Knights who had been fighting the Nightmare Knights disappeared, the black armor on her vanished as well, and her Long Robe reappeared.
With a flick of her robe, the Nightmare Knights turned into streaks of darkness, re-entering the shadows beneath Enya’s robe.
Enya then looked at the kneeling corpse.
The Kill Hall Master’s head lay ten meters away from his body.
He was already dead…
The moment Enya severed him, his soul and all his connections to the present world were completely cut off.
This meant the mysterious force tied to him could no longer affect him, and he would not have to re-experience birth and death.
Enya had seen far too many people seeking such release.
“Ha…”
She let out a light sigh and looked up at the sky, still raining bones and corpses.
She figured this place was where all the dead from the city ended up—the very end of all darkness, or rather, the center of mass of this City of the Other Shore.
Enya took out the Spirit-Soothing Flower Dagger from Survival’s Creation. The moment this ceremonial dagger appeared here, it reacted instantly, and the sky turned white.
At the tip of the Spirit-Soothing Flower Dagger hovered a black bead surrounded by a white ring.
The bead was the size of an egg.
Enya took it in her hand.
As her Golden Red Dragon Eyes opened, she saw within the black bead a twisted silhouette that showed a hint of panic.
That was the true master behind the Hall of Shadows.
The Kill Hall Master did not possess a Dark Bloodline; he used Blood Elf Battle Techniques and combat arts.
This meant the one with a will of its own hidden within the Dark Bloodline was not the Kill Hall Master.
“What? Still trying to hide? I’ve already seen you. Did you think you could hide and then take over my body after I absorb this Fragment? That’s quite a plan you’ve got.”
The twisted soul, exposed, stopped pretending. It shot out of the black bead and revealed its true form.
A black thread rushed out of the white ring, quickly expanding into a mass of starlight. It opened a huge, pitch-black mouth and lunged at Enya’s head.
But before it could bite, it shattered its teeth against the silver eggshell that enveloped Enya.
Enya let out a disdainful laugh.
“How pathetic.”
This creature had been assimilated by the Dark Bloodline rather than controlling it.
After shedding its physical body, it had become a pure thought entity, mixed within this Dark Fragment.
Enya could control it easily because she was immune to any mental contamination.
Others were different. A little contamination could cause them to go berserk and become a puppet of the Fragment.
“This Fragment comes from the Goddess of Night. What happened to Her? Has She fallen? Why else would the Fragment be filled with malignant pollution? Has She lost control…?”
Everything was still unknown.
Looking at the pure white sky, Enya was curious about the outside situation.
She spread a pair of pitch-black Dragon Wings behind her, flapped them, and flew out of this Coffin Box.
Returning to the platform at the center of the great hall, Enya landed and retracted her Dragon Wings.
She turned to look at the Coffin Box. Now there was no black liquid inside—it was completely empty.
The coffin had lost its effect, and it could no longer enter the Bone World, because the Bone World was now in Enya’s hands.
Enya glanced at the black bead, then sealed it in a Bottle. Absorbing this Fragment would require some preparation time.
She planned to use it when she advanced to Dual Seventh Rank.
“Nightmare, Desire, Night… that’s three large Fragments. Just one more to go, and it’ll complete the Goddess of Night’s Four Authorities.”
Fragments came in different sizes. Enya had obtained large Fragments, while the smaller ones had scattered and merged into the mortal beings of the world—what ordinary people called Bloodlines.
A Mortalblood and another Mortalblood could still give birth to a child with a Bloodline, because scattered Fragments would gradually converge and be absorbed by passersby.
After a high fever or a dream, and surviving the ordeal, one would gain a Bloodline.
Enya recalled the Potion Cultivation Method that the Living History Book, Antiros, had told her about.
This method seemed to have been used long ago, but it was discontinued after humans gained Bloodlines.
Now, through Antiros’s influence, using Enya’s reputation and Vivienne’s hands, it was being promoted again.
Enya couldn’t help but suspect that Antiros was planning something. After all, Antiros knew everything.
“Bloodline, Fragment, Potion…”
Enya could process a Bloodline into a Potion, and directly use the Potion to acquire special abilities.
A Bloodline was a special ability, originating from the Fragment of Authority of a fallen god.
“I feel like something huge happened a long time ago.”
She had a faint premonition that some major events had occurred in this world’s history, but they had not been passed down.
Enya’s curiosity was piqued.
After walking out of the temple, the Starry Night sky outside remained, but the storm that had surrounded the peak had disappeared.
As soon as Enya stepped down from the temple steps, she saw a pair of furry golden fox ears pop up on the mountain path.
Soon, a petite and adorable golden fox loli appeared. Zeta saw Enya and called out sweetly.
“It was Zeta who won! That guy was beaten black and blue and flew away!”
“Uh-huh, congratulations to our little Zeta on her victory~”
Enya smiled as she looked at Zeta, who had shrunk down.
The more power Zeta used, the smaller her form became, eventually returning to her original body.
Right now, Zeta wasn’t even as tall as Enya’s waist, showing how much she had expended this time.
On the other hand, the more power Zeta borrowed from her sisters, the bigger she got. If she were at the Ninth Order, she would definitely be a voluptuous, enchanting golden fox big sister.
But right now, she was just a little one.
Enya walked over, picked up the shrunken Zeta, let her nuzzle against her, and gently stroked Zeta’s soft, fine golden hair.
“You worked hard~”
“Hmph, it was just one dragon!”
Zeta pouted, her nose in the air.
Despite her words, the price she paid was not small at all.
