Northern Empire, Peak of the North.
Everyone knew that the legendary Beast God resided at the Peak of the North.
If one wished to have an audience with the Beast God, they had to climb the world’s tallest peak—twenty thousand meters high—battling the Beast God’s guardians along the path, enduring winds like bone-carving knives, and passing the trials of the Beast God’s dungeon.
Only then would the legendary Beast God appear before them.
For hundreds of years, those in power in the Northern Region found it incredibly difficult to seek an audience with the Beast God.
As a result, a recurring situation emerged in history:
When a ruler received the Beast God’s Blessing in the Northern Region and returned to find their reign not yet doomed, they would work hard to secure the blessing, then formally ascend the throne before heading to the Peak of the North to meet the Beast God and obtain its blessing, thereby proving their legitimacy to the world…
…
The entire Northern Region remained in turmoil for nearly three hundred years, until the Northern Family rose to power.
They possessed a King-rank Tanyou with a special sniffing ability.
This Tanyou led their people, spending over twenty years shaking the Northern Region, then another twenty stabilizing their rule.
They fostered peaceful coexistence among various races while suppressing discrimination, finally establishing the concept of the “Beastman Flag” in everyone’s hearts.
Later, to maintain long-term rule, the Northern Royal Family created two enemies for the Beastman Flag: the humans to the south and the Demon Race to the east. From then on, the entire Northern Region remained united…
But unfortunately, the Northern Royal Family itself had an irreparable flaw: successive rulers struggled to obtain the Beast God’s Blessing!
This wasn’t because the Beast God held prejudice against them.
Rather, the Tanyou race lacked combat strength and couldn’t climb the twenty-thousand-meter Peak of the North alone to gain the Beast God’s Blessing.
Previous rulers were all-around types like the Tiger Lion King or the Elephant King, but a Tanyou Cat was a first…
According to tradition among the Northern Region’s rulers, only beastmen who ascended the Peak of the North alone and received the Beast God’s Blessing were qualified to command the world.
Yet the Northern Royal Family had ruled for so long without ever seeking an audience with the Beast God.
Other rulers delayed at most a few years before visiting the Beast God, but the Northern Royal Family delayed a full two hundred years!
Ambitious families began stirring up sentiment:
“The Beast God refuses to bless the Northern Royal Family! That proves they are unworthy to rule the Northern Region!”
For a time, undercurrents surged.
The people harbored complaints, and public opinion across the Northern Region gradually turned unfavorable.
This continued until Vira, Weiluona’s mother, ascended the throne.
By then, public doubt had nearly peaked. Even internal factions within the Northern Royal Family began to split, so they urgently needed Vira to seek an audience with the Beast God.
But Vira wasn’t foolish. Her own King-rank ancestors couldn’t reach the Peak of the North, let alone her at Rank Nine.
So she publicly acknowledged she would go to see the Beast God, temporarily stabilizing the people’s hearts. Yet every time her departure date approached, she would unexpectedly become pregnant:
“Sorry, I suddenly got pregnant. Don’t rush—let me give birth, rest for a year or two, then I’ll set off!”
And so Vira gave birth five times in a row, stringing along nearly ten years… This left the rival families completely baffled:
“Give birth, raise the child, get pregnant again, give birth again! Is that cat going to keep breeding until she abdicates?! The Northern Royal Family has ruled for nearly two hundred years—it’s time they handed over the Northern Region!”
Soon, under the guidance of several Great Families, a massive protest march erupted in the capital of the Northern Empire.
The people were determined to overthrow the Northern Royal Family, which no longer had the Beast God’s recognition!
Yet just at that moment, Vira, who had only recently become pregnant with Weiluona, suddenly appeared before the crowd bathed in the Beast God’s Blessing.
…
The entire scene erupted in uproar, followed by fervent worship.
Under the Beast God’s Blessing, all doubts were shattered.
Anyone who dared harbor further thoughts knew that reaching the Peak of the North required at least King-rank strength.
So there could only be one reason Vira had obtained the blessing.
…
She had secretly managed to break through to King-rank, then climbed the Peak of the North while pregnant—how terrifying!
Thus, to this day, the entire Northern Empire remained firmly under the rule of the Northern Royal Family.
Weiluona, though only Rank Nine, was still widely believed to be King-rank.
The reason Weiluona achieved all this was a whimsical idea she’d had since childhood:
Since climbing the mountain was so hard every time, why not build an elevator that could reach the summit directly?
She had proposed this to her family, but it was flatly rejected.
First, there was the enormous cost. And they didn’t even know if using such a shortcut would anger the Beast God.
“It’s not like I can just keep going to see the Beast God like this forever!” Weiluona argued fiercely, but was only met with ridicule.
Then, all the siblings who mocked her were disposed of.
She successfully inherited the throne, withstood the pressure, and began building the highly cost-effective Ten-kilometer Spatial Teleportation Array.
As long as enough gold and treasures could be hired, even a Rank Nine Dragon could be made to relay stations at intervals of a thousand meters up the Peak of the North.
Each station had a teleportation array, bringing the Dragon’s immense combat power directly to the summit to complete the entire array’s construction.
Finally, Weiluona went through the motions, being transported from the base to the summit alone, becoming the first Tanyou in her family to reach the Peak of the North alone, meet the Beast God, and receive its blessing…
It was now noon. With the successive activation of twenty Mist Teleportation Arrays, Queen Weiluona of the Northern Empire arrived once again at the Peak of the North.
Coming here now was as easy as visiting her backyard.
Over time, her relationship with the legendary Beast God grew increasingly close.
The noonday blizzard wasn’t too fierce.
Weiluona stepped across the nearly indestructible mystical ice into a massive ice cave.
Deep within the cave, the Beast God’s enormous body coiled atop a central ice platform—a Rui Beast with full plumage, an elegant physique, and twelve streams of iridescent light cascading over its form. It was the Beast God.
“Have you come to me with troubles again, little cat?”
The Beast God twitched its antennae, which could sense all fortune in the world. Good. Its own and the little cat’s fortune today were both excellent.
“I came today to seek the Beast God’s wisdom,” Weiluona said, bowing politely before the Beast God. “I recently discovered a method that supposedly bypasses the gods’ blockade to advance to King-rank. But it’s so absurd I can’t tell if it’s real or fake…”
…
“Oh? Bypassing the gods? That’s quite interesting. Tell me more.”
The Beast God’s tone was gentle and neutral, nothing like the majestic, murderous aura the beastmen imagined.
Weiluona remembered being terrified when she first met the Beast God, but after spending some time together, she discovered the Beast God was not only incredibly gentle but also a thousand-year-old shut-in!
“This method… Weiluona obtained it from a mysterious being in the Heavenly Mist. After reading it once, it didn’t seem very reliable…”
Weiluona slowly pulled out the Envelope of Truth from her pocket and opened it.
But just then, the Beast God’s antennae seemed to sense something…
“Wait, why has my fortune suddenly become… murky?!”
For hundreds of years, the Beast God had kept its fortune above “good” to avoid many dangers and disasters.
In the end, it was fortunate enough to obtain authority and become the world’s sole Beast God.
But now, just a single glance at that letter had dropped its fortune to the lowest point since birth!
Even when it wasn’t yet a god and was being hunted by two King-rank humans, its fortune hadn’t fallen this low!
“Weiluona, throw away that letter immediately! It’s an object of misfortune!”
The Beast God shot to its feet in terror, spreading its two pairs of huge, twelve-colored wings behind it, expression tense.
It could sense that once it became entangled with the source of that letter, its carefree days of lazing around for centuries would come to an end!
