As the morning light first appeared, the mist lingering in the mountains also faded a little. The group patrolling the mountain yawned, looking at the golden horizon. They all looked tired and exhausted.
The man walking at the front, with a gold tooth, shook his head and said.
“You say, who would come to cause us trouble in this place? I say the boss is too cautious, making us patrol day and night.”
“Hey, don’t talk nonsense.”
The person behind frowned and said angrily.
The gold-tooth man shrugged resentfully, then looked at the path ahead.
“After we pass that hill ahead, we’ll go back immediately. I’m dead tired, so all of you hurry up.”
“Damn, you hurry up.”
“Do you think that woman from the Lily of the Valley Chamber of Commerce, Einfel, dares to come?”
“A woman? She dares to come?”
“Haha, true. I heard this woman is very beautiful.”
The few of them were forcing themselves to stay awake, chatting idly. The man at the very end happened to look up at the sky, then frowned in confusion and turned to look east.
After looking back and forth a couple of times, he said dazedly.
“Why is there also a sun in the west?”
“What? What are you saying? Early in the morning, where would a sun come from in the west?”
“This guy must be too sleepy, can’t tell directions anymore.”
A few people laughed at him, but when they saw the man pointing at the sky, they turned to look and indeed saw an orange-red ball of flame in the sky, hanging like the noonday sun.
But it was even bigger than the sun, as if the sun had fallen. The group was stunned for just a moment before feeling increasingly hot and unbearable.
“Sun, it really is the sun…”
The gold-tooth man opened his mouth wide, panting heavily, unable to believe the fierce sun rising in the west in the early morning. Even his drowsiness vanished instantly.
Above the clouds.
A massive dragon, spreading its wings and opening its dragon maw, spewed golden-red flames. The vast energy was pure magic power.
At this moment, Enya’s dragon body emitted a scorching heat like burning charcoal. The originally white part of her chest had transformed into golden-red, and even her dragon wings radiated a blazing glow of destruction.
The breath was a pure outpouring of magic, and also the most primal power of destruction.
Buzz!
With a sound of space trembling, the golden-red light, carrying a terrifying aura, turned into a pillar of light and instantly fell upon that mountain.
Before the light landed, the mountain had already been ignited into a sea of fire by the ultra-high temperature. All moisture sublimated into steam in milliseconds, escaping from the center of the destructive light that fell on the peaks stretching dozens of miles.
The golden-red pillar of fire descended from the sky, not much thinner than the towering peak itself. After landing, the scorching fire continued unabated.
The Breath of Destruction swept across, destroying all signs of life in this area.
Only after the area around the mountain peaks had turned into complete scorched earth did Enya stop outputting magic power, and the golden-red pillar of light dissipated.
In the sky, she had punched a huge circular hole through the clouds. Even her current size looked small within it, roughly the same proportion as her house in Red Pine City compared to her human form.
The golden-red texture on her chest faded, returning to the original white.
She flapped her wings and flew toward higher sky.
Then headed north.
A hundred miles away, a gust of wind surged, carrying a hint of scorching heat. People looked toward the direction the wind came from and saw a flash of light on the horizon, which slowly extinguished.
People busy in the morning, feeling this wind and seeing the light in the west, were all amazed at what had happened.
Some shamans thought it was a natural disaster.
Some sorcerers thought it was a divine miracle.
At the same time, many pairs of eyes also looked in that direction.
The wind carried a trace of chaotic magic power. Although they couldn’t sense which powerful being had created it, they could still get a glimpse of the terrifying nature of that attack.
“Who on earth is this…”
“Just a gust of wind from the horizon gives people an ominous feeling. I wonder what kind of existence it is.”
Such talk filled the adventurers.
Above the sky, Enya flew above the thick clouds. Higher up was the turbulent layer, an extremely dangerous place.
Feeling she had reached her destination, Enya dove downward.
The moment she passed through the clouds, her massive dragon form transformed into a human body. But unlike before, this time she had no dragon features. Her golden-red slit pupils became pure golden pupils.
Her silver hair spread out and flew wildly in the wind. Enya looked at her change and couldn’t help but sigh.
In this past year, she had gotten used to having horns on her head and a tail behind her. Having not used her original body for a long time, she suddenly didn’t quite know how to be human anymore.
The door of an underground tavern was pushed open by a person in a black cloak.
Her figure was slender, with an impressive curve at her chest, clearly not a male. The bartender squinted at this woman. Just then, a drunken person stood up nearby and walked toward the hooded woman.
Just as everyone expected this to be a common scene of someone bothering a woman, before the drunkard could even stretch out his hand, he had already fallen to the ground. He wasn’t dead, just inexplicably fell and didn’t get up again.
The bartender narrowed his eyes. Some of the stronger people around also fell silent. They vaguely sensed that the woman had made a move, but they didn’t see how. This meant the woman’s strength was not inferior to theirs.
The woman walked forward, as if she didn’t see the person fallen in front of her. Her high heels stepped on the drunkard’s back as she passed.
She walked to the counter.
When she got close, the bartender widened his eyes slightly, impressed by the woman’s cold, peerless face under the hood.
“Miss… Missy, are you here to drink?”
“How do I enter the City of the Other Shore?”
Enya looked at the bartender and said bluntly.
When the nearby people heard that she was asking about the City of the Other Shore, their expressions changed. Not everyone here was bad. One person, emboldened by alcohol, said.
“Miss, why are you going to that place? It’s not a good place. Although you are not weak, at least Fourth Rank magic power, such strength is still not enough for you to venture into that demon lair alone. I think you should turn back.”
“Thanks, but I have a friend inside. I need to meet her.”
This conversation reminded Enya inexplicably of many years ago, when she met all kinds of people in places like this.
Turning to scan the people at the tables, Enya took a gold coin out of her pocket, then said in a cold, clear voice.
“One West Wind gold coin. Whoever tells me how to get to the City of the Other Shore gets it.”
The fine gold coins made by West Wind could not be compared to the mixed-quality coins of the Northern Lands.
At the same time, this also released a message.
It showed that Enya was an outsider, unfamiliar with the place, and a rich Missy with money to burn.
“I know.”
Behind Enya, the bartender’s voice sounded.
Enya turned around and flicked the gold coin toward the bartender.
The bartender caught it, felt it, looked at it, confirmed it was real, and eagerly pocketed it.
He looked back at Enya and smiled.
“Missy, this is the City of This Shore, originally called False Day City. That City of the Other Shore was originally called True Night City.”
…
“If you want to go from This Shore to the Other Shore, you need to wait for nightfall. On the wasteland to the north, a pitch-black river will appear. On the river, there will be ferrymen carrying silver fire lanterns. You can reach the Other Shore by taking their boat.”
“But Missy, you came at an unlucky time. Something happened recently. The City of the Other Shore is locked down from inside. The ferrymen aren’t sending out boats. Although the Black River descends, without the guidance of the silver fire lantern, there’s no way to reach the Other Shore.”
The bartender looked regretful.
Enya asked.
“Is there any other way?”
“There is, of course there is.”
The bartender continued smiling and lowered his voice.
“The official boats are gone, but you can take a black boat.”
“Black boat…”
“The black boats are more dangerous. Seeing Missy’s appearance, you must be no ordinary person. It might be better to wait until the lockdown is lifted before entering the City of the Other Shore. I happen to have several nice properties here that I can rent to you cheaply. Missy, would you like to take a look?”
The bartender rubbed his hands together, showing a look of obsession with money.
Enya shook her head and said.
“No need.”
After saying that, she turned and walked out the door. As she walked, she thought that she should have come here earlier.
‘Missed the last boat!’
Enya left the tavern and found an inn to stay in for now.
She brought a chair, sat by the window, looked at the street outside, watching people come and go, passing the boring time of day.
The atmosphere in this City of This Shore was very bad. The streets were full of thieves and gangs of thugs. Many outsiders got into trouble. There really were a lot of outsiders, most of them had some strength, all coming for that City of the Other Shore.
“But…”
Enya narrowed her eyes.
When the Golden Fox Princess Zeta left, she had agreed to meet Enya in the City of the Other Shore. As soon as she left, news came that the City of the Other Shore was locked down. It was hard not to think that she was related.
‘What did Zeta do to cause a city-wide lockdown?’
Enya closed the window and muttered to herself.
“There should be some reaction from Lakeside City by now.”
On the mountain destroyed by her breath, there was a bandit lair.
That’s right, it was the group that said Enya should personally bring money to redeem the goods. As a result, Enya just spat and they were gone. They were extremely arrogant but fragile as ants.
They deserved to die. They had been a scourge in that area for years, directly or indirectly causing countless deaths.
Night fell, and Enya left the guest room.
