The increasingly hurried footsteps betrayed Xia Hua’s inner turmoil— she was far from as calm as she appeared on the surface.
Even though she tried to move lightly, that damn concrete floor still clashed with her cheap sneakers, producing loud “pa-da, pa-da~” sounds that cut sharply through the tense and eerie atmosphere.
“I really should’ve gone with running shoes,” Xia Hua muttered, frustrated.
“But then again, forget it! Even the cheapest pair of branded runners costs enough to buy me five or six— heck, even eight— pairs of these cheap sneakers. Honestly, I’m amazed myself… Wearing junk shoes like this, and I don’t even have foot odor.”
“No wonder I’m awesome.”
“No wonder I’m a little fairy.”
“Wearing cheap shoes and socks and still no foot odor…”
At last, even Chen Kairun and the other two walking ahead sensed that something was off.
An instinctive alert, the biological sixth sense of danger, made them realize something was approaching fast from behind.
One of the problem students from No. 8 High had his body slightly turned.
From the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a dark figure. Just as he instinctively started to turn around to see what it was—
A slender hand touched his shoulder before he could finish moving.
“Hi~” came a girl’s voice.
So that No. 8 High problem student— his head turned even before his body could.
What’s the hardest bone in the human body? Anyone with a bit of common sense knows— the frontal bone is one of the toughest. So if you’re going to hit someone, aim for that.
Other parts? Too risky—you might end up killing someone.
The student only saw a pretty girl smiling at him.
“Is she… into me?”
“Could this be a love encounter? Nice~~” That was all he had time to think.
Then a glass cola bottle, accompanied by that sweet smiling greeting, came flying—no, rocketing—toward him, giving him zero time to react.
Thud~~ The sound echoed like a giant bell.
“Ehh~~” Even Xia Hua herself was surprised.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to go! The expected outcome was a shattering sound, and the problem student collapsing in a bloody heap after getting his head smashed in, right?
But… but!!!
That thud~ sounded painful. Like, just the sound alone made you wince.
And under Xia Hua’s watchful eyes, in an instant, a swelling the size of a fist bloomed on the kid’s forehead.
“Whoa (キ`゚Д゚´)!” Xia Hua was genuinely stunned.
The poor guy hadn’t even said a word yet, but Xia Hua was already grimacing in sympathy: “Ugh~~~~~~”
That looked painful. Like super freaking painful!!
(キ`゚Д゚´)!!
(キ`゚Д゚´)!! (キ`゚Д゚´)!!
She suddenly had the urge to grab a needle and drain that swelling the size of a stew pot.
Just one poke, and it’d be a neat little treat for anyone with OCD. Probably really satisfying, right?
So… are you the devil?
“Awooo~~~” It was only now that the student from No. 8 High finally caught his breath and let out a wail, squatting down in pain— it really hurt.
Xia Hua swore to herself she’d train her arm strength more, so next time, she’d manage a clean headshot.
Not like this time— no head explosion, but definitely a pain level even worse than that. No time to waste, she grabbed another cola bottle.
No hesitation— she hurled it straight at another student’s face.
Yeah, forget aiming elsewhere.
Right for the nose bridge…
Bang~
Crack~~
“Oww~~” Another scream pierced the air.
Xia Hua had just delivered a fresh batch of unbearable agony.
The next delinquent boy now had snot and blood gushing from his nose, tears pouring down as he clutched his face.
No doubt about it— his nose was done for.
“X-X-Xia Hua!!” Chen Kairun’s voice trembled.
Was this really the girl he used to bully all the time? She was this brutal?
The moans from the ground, the kid with the purplish swollen lump on his head, the other with a broken, bloody nose—
In that fleeting moment, Xia Hua’s calm, indifferent expression—
Planted a deep shadow in Chen Kairun’s heart.
And that shadow would likely stay with him for years to come.
Sure, he hung out with delinquents, but that didn’t mean he was one too.
When had he ever seen something like this?
“Mm-hmm?” Xia Hua shrugged slightly, as if to say: That answer your question?
She jerked her chin toward the space behind Chen Kairun. By the time he realized what she meant, before he could even turn around, he felt the world spinning around him.
Lin An wasn’t like Xia Hua— who, despite her fire, still had the strength of a “frail little girl” and couldn’t even manage a proper head smash.
Just look at the size of that welt she left on that guy’s head. Was that even humanly possible?
Lin An moved in from behind and wrapped an arm around Chen Kairun’s waist.
Half-squatting, legs and waist aligned, his strength exploded in an instant.
Bang~! With a solid thud, Chen Kairun was slammed to the ground.
He looked completely disoriented, not likely to get up anytime soon. Xia Hua could only think silently to herself: Nice waist…
When it comes to suplexing someone, arm strength isn’t everything.
It’s all about the waist— only with a solid core can you pull off a move like that. Once hit, there’s no getting up.
So… his waist was really that good?
And they say a good waist means good kidneys, too.
Lin An’s future girlfriend is gonna be blessed. Truly blessed!!
Xia Hua couldn’t help sneaking a few more glances at Lin An’s waist— or, wait, his back. Under that loose athletic jacket, there wasn’t an ounce of extra fat. In fact, there were faint lines showing.
Those were… the early outlines of toned abs!
“Let’s go,” she said as the dust settled.
Xia Hua stepped forward and pointed at the three guys lying motionless on the ground, signaling it was time to run.
You know why she chose this spot to make her move? You know why Chen Kairun and those punks brought Lin An here in the first place?
Because Xia Hua knew this was a blind spot in the surveillance system.
And so did the delinquents.
She grabbed Lin An’s hand and was about to make a clean getaway when he suddenly said, “Wait— hang on, my keys… I haven’t gotten my keys…” Then, under Xia Hua’s suspicious gaze,
He bent down and picked up a keyring from under Chen Kairun.
Hiss~ Xia Hua sucked in a sharp breath when she saw that.
“Lin An, you sneaky bastard… You were seriously gonna use your keys as a weapon?” she said in awe. But truthfully, Lin An hadn’t used them at all— he’d just been holding onto them, ready to counter if needed.
Who knew Xia Hua would show up and even question his keys?
“In a street fight… keys…”
“Don’t really count as dirty,” Lin An mumbled.
Right. Just like how Kong Yiji said stealing books doesn’t count as stealing.
Too lazy to argue with this meathead of a friend.
Xia Hua grabbed his hand again—and this time, they ran.
Her hand was… so soft…
