“Ahhhh!!!!”
“In broad daylight, under the vast sky, you, Zhao, actually dare to seduce my innocent and cute Xiao Bai!! I’m going to shoot you dead!!”
A sharp scream pierced the noisy afternoon air, startling several crows resting in the trees. They flapped their wings and flew away in a panic.
Hei Xu Yinsheng was fuming. She rushed forward and pried the two apart just as they were practically melting into each other. Immediately after, she delivered a kick to the slightly flushed man.
Before he could even explain, Zhao Yicheng was kicked off the sofa and sent sprawling onto the floor.
Even that didn’t satisfy Hei Xu Yinsheng’s rage. She grabbed the shotgun with lightning speed and was about to pull the trigger on him.
At that moment, a white figure suddenly blocked Hei Xu Yinsheng’s path. She spread her arms wide, shielding the man behind her like a hen protecting its chick.
“Xiao Hei, stop!” Bai Xu Yinsheng shouted, shielding him. She quickly explained, “It wasn’t him; I was the one who did it! Don’t hurt him!”
Hei Xu Yinsheng’s finger froze on the trigger. She looked up in disbelief at the white-haired girl who stood before her with such firm determination to protect the man.
Her face tightened as she barked, “Xiao Bai, get out of the way! I’m going to blast him!”
“I knew giving him the villa keys was a bad idea! He must have used his silver tongue to bewitch you!! I will not stand by and watch my other half fall into the hands of this dog of a man!!!”
The dog of a man on the floor coughed a few times before climbing to his feet.
Zhao Yicheng rubbed his aching waist. Xiao Hei had put all her strength into that kick. A normal person might have been knocked unconscious by it.
“Xiao Hei, put the gun down first. I can explain.” He looked at Hei Xu Yinsheng, his eyes filled with helplessness.
“Explain? I don’t need an explanation.”
“Then I’ll explain.” Bai Xu Yinsheng took a step forward and grabbed the other’s hand, pressing her forehead against hers. “Since our memories are linked and we have Shared Sensation, I’ll let you see my memories right now.”
As soon as she finished speaking, two clouds of crimson rose on Hei Xu Yinsheng’s cheeks. Fragments of memory flooded her mind:
From Chen Chenyu dragging her to cut stones, to Bai Xu Yinsheng eating chips and watching soap operas because she was bored. From the price of not eating sugar for one week, to Zhao Yicheng coming through the door to cook. From the backlash of the wish’s Love Curse, to those three bone-deep kisses filled with affection.
The first kiss was light, like a dragonfly skimming the surface of the water, ending as soon as it began.
The second kiss was fragrant, carrying a faint scent of tobacco and the man’s natural male hormones. It was intoxicating, making one lose themselves in it.
The third kiss was intense—relentless and deep. Her slender legs had even wrapped around his tight, muscular waist. She had been like a hungry little beast, as if she wanted to drain him dry.
In the outside world, only a few seconds had passed, but Hei Xu Yinsheng had lived through Bai Xu Yinsheng’s entire morning—watching soap operas, eating chips, experiencing the heart-pounding attraction, the backlash of the Love Curse, and finally, the three kisses with Zhao Yicheng.
“Cough, cough, cough.” Hei Xu Yinsheng lowered the shotgun and cleared her throat solemnly. However, no matter how serious she tried to look, she couldn’t hide the blush on her face. It only made her look like a child trying to act like an adult.
“You, Zhao, get out.” She looked at Zhao Yicheng and pointed her slender finger toward the open door.
Now that she understood the cause and effect, her anger had mostly subsided. She realized the fault didn’t lie with Zhao Yicheng, but with the fact that Bai Xu Yinsheng had violated the price.
The Love Curse—falling in love with the first person you see.
‘Damn it! No wonder my future self said I would never want to experience the backlash of a price!’
Zhao Yicheng didn’t leave. Instead, he walked toward her. Bai Xu Yinsheng took the opportunity to snatch the shotgun from Xiao Hei’s hands and hid behind the man while clutching the weapon.
“What do you want?” Hei Xu Yinsheng crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow as the man approached.
‘Is he planning to take advantage of me being unarmed to take me out with Xiao Bai’s help? Or is he going to force me onto the bed? After all, a pair of black and white twin sisters would be very attractive to any man.’
Zhao Yicheng stopped two or three paces away. With a gentle push, he brought the shotgun-clutching Bai Xu Yinsheng out from behind him.
“What’s wrong with Xiao Bai?”
“She’s under a Love Curse.”
“Love Curse?”
“To be specific, it’s a type of backlash. Forget it, explaining it to you is useless anyway. Just know that she doesn’t actually like you. She’s only like this right now because of the Love Curse.”
Zhao Yicheng fell silent.
He glanced at the white-haired girl who was clinging to his arm and refusing to let go. He knew this couldn’t be explained away as just a sudden burst of affection.
Bai Xu Yinsheng had likely played with fire and gotten burned again, much like that previous Potion accident.
After a moment of thought, he spoke again. “How do I break this Love Curse you’re talking about?”
“I don’t know.” Hei Xu Yinsheng threw her hands up, looking helpless. “However, if you really want what’s best for her and me, then please go back to your own villa now. As long as you’re here, the effect of the curse’s backlash will only grow stronger.”
“No!”
Before she could finish, Bai Xu Yinsheng interrupted. Her fingers nervously gripped the hem of Zhao Yicheng’s shirt, her eyes shimmering with tears and panic.
“I don’t want A’Zhao to leave me. No, no…” She shook her head helplessly, looking like a lost child.
Seeing her like this, Zhao Yicheng felt a pang of pity. He placed his large, warm hand on her head and stroked her hair, coaxing her softly, “Be good. Listen to Xiao Hei.”
Then, he looked up at Hei Xu Yinsheng and gently pushed Bai Xu Yinsheng into her arms.
“I’ll leave Xiao Bai to you, then. Call me if anything happens.”
With that, Zhao Yicheng turned and walked away.
Watching his figure disappear completely, Hei Xu Yinsheng glanced at the struggling white-haired girl in her arms, then raised her hand toward the direction he had gone and made a “friendly” gesture.
‘If I ever freaking call you back, I’m a dog!!’
***
Night fell.
A villa in the Tianhua Residential District was brightly lit. Zhao Yicheng emerged from the gym at 10:00 PM after finishing his rehabilitation training for the day.
He walked to the coffee table and picked up a glass of salt water he had prepared, gulping it down.
The light hit his face, making his features look exceptionally soft.
*Beep! Beep! Beep!*
Suddenly, his phone rang. Zhao Yicheng picked it up, and a pleasant yet distant female voice came from the other end.
“You, Zhao, get over here. Something happened on my end.”
Before Zhao Yicheng could ask anything, a very childish female voice screamed in the background, followed by the sound of things crashing and shattering on the floor.
“I don’t care! I don’t care! I want to see him!”
“Ahhhh!! I want A’Zhao! I want A’Zhao!”
Hei Xu Yinsheng ground her teeth and barked into the phone, “Anyway, just get over here right now!”
