The difference between a Death Duel and a Regular Duel is that in a Regular Duel, the participants can discuss whether to open the perimeter air wall, since most battles consider throwing the enemy out of the arena as a victory condition.
In a Death Duel, however, the air wall must be activated, and it cannot be deactivated until one side dies.
Now, Jialade added a No-Restriction Rule. As long as Truth agreed, both sides would rely on their own abilities once the fight started.
Even if Jialade pulled out a Legendary Weapon from his pocket, Truth would have to accept it.
“Good, that’s exactly what I want!” Truth agreed happily. The next second, a prompt appeared in front of her:
[Arena Challenge: Blazing Sun, Magma Demon’s Refreshing Summer!
Time Limit: Thirty minutes. Rule: No Restrictions]
“Huh? Wait, this arena system directly identified that Jialade as a minor monster?” Truth paused.
Since Jialade didn’t have a Player System, the arena naturally identified him as a Minor Monster, turning this PVP into PvE…
Hum—
After clicking the words “Proceed with Challenge,” a faint, huge barrier rose up along the entire edge of the arena.
This caused the surrounding spectators to erupt into boiling cheers:
“We want to see bloodshed!”
“Haaah!”
Inside the arena, Jialade let out a long roar to the sky, causing his human-like container to rapidly swell and then burst open.
With splattering magma and smoke, Jialade revealed his original appearance.
He was nearly three meters tall, his body covered in solidified volcanic rock.
Unlike the claws of lower demons, Jialade’s main attack method was his huge rocky hands that constantly dripped scorching magma, along with the Magma Enchantment that came with every attack.
And it wasn’t over. After expanding his figure to what a Fourth Rank should look like, Jialade laughed again and said:
“Hahaha, Blood Demon, you’re quite confident, actually agreeing to a No-Restriction Death Duel.
Since that’s the case, I won’t hold back either. Watch closely, heh!”
After another roar, Jialade’s form continued to expand.
The solid stone armor that originally only covered his vitals now piled up over his entire body, which turned even redder, and a very thick lizard tail began to grow behind him…
Jialade stopped hiding and directly displayed his Fifth Rank form:
“Didn’t expect this, did you? I’m not a Fourth Rank at all, but a genuine Fifth Rank! Your life is like a candle in the wind!”
Jialade’s favorite trick was to deceive his opponent into thinking he was the same rank, then trick them into the arena for a No-Restriction Rule battle, because one-sided stomps were the best!
In facing Truth, if Truth hadn’t agreed to No Restrictions, Jialade would have been a bit worried, since it would have forced his level down to Fourth Rank, and he had never fought a Blood Demon of the same rank, so he had no idea how to handle a Blood Demon…
But now it was different. With a full rank difference, Jialade didn’t need any skill to crush Truth!
“As expected, it’s that trick again. Lord Jialade is too cunning!”
“Today is really a bonus. I’ve never seen a Blood Demon die before!”
“Hurry up and fight!”
The spectators began to chant Jialade’s name, and Jialade also taunted Truth:
“I heard that Blood Demons are the top assassins among us demons, killing without a trace? Let me see if that’s true. Hehehe.”
This arena was very spacious, with no cover at all. It could be said to be a hard counter to Truth, who needed to kite.
And once she was closed in on, Jialade could hit a squishy assassin like Truth down to zero Health Bar with one punch.
However, Jialade wouldn’t do that, since killing with one punch would be too boring.
“How about this, Blood Demon, I’ll let you have two moves first, how’s that?” Jialade crossed his arms over his chest and began thinking about how to torture Truth.
But several breaths passed, and he never got Truth’s reply.
‘What, scared dumb?’
Jialade frowned and looked at Truth, finding her still standing there, seemingly pondering something…
“Hey, did you hear what I said?!” Jialade was a bit angry. How dare she ignore him?
Yet Truth still didn’t reply, only quietly looking at the arena data in front of her:
[Player Score Ranking for Issue 2016, time remaining until next refresh: 55 days:
First Place: None, Second Place: None, Third Place: None…]
The arena resets its settlement rewards every three months.
Now Truth was checking the overall score ranking of the Thousand Lakes Arena and found that there wasn’t a single name on the leaderboard.
‘Damn, could it be that because the demons don’t have player panels, the arena can’t correctly identify them, so until now no demon or human has ever received the leaderboard rewards?’
‘Doesn’t that mean… as long as I can get my name on the board, I only need to win once to directly get the number one spot on the Thousand Lakes Arena overall ranking?’
Truth became a bit excited. Although doing this would make the ranking meaningless, she could actually get the rewards in hand!
The arena’s rewards were mostly special items with special functions or mechanisms. Even if not practical, they had collection value, very worth getting.
The problem was… where to find another Player? Or where to find a way to make the arena recognize the battle as PVP?
Truth was troubled by this, deep in thought, when Jialade’s voice came again, interrupting her:
“You bastard, what are you pretending for? Playing silent expert? Or do you want to die with dignity? Let me tell you, impossible. I’ll smash every part of your body!”
Feeling insulted, Jialade slammed his fists into the ground, stirring up waves of magma, then angrily approached Truth.
‘Ah, I was too absorbed in studying the arena, almost forgot I’m still in a death match.’
Truth looked at Jialade and shook her head disdainfully.
She thought this guy would have some earth-shattering killing move, but it was just the trick of hiding his rank to play the wolf in sheep’s clothing…
Just as Truth had thought earlier, demons had no dignity. Jialade’s initial gentlemanly facade was all fake, and lying was second nature.
At the same time, just as Jialade had thought, in the face of a full rank difference… no, the gap between Truth and Jialade was more than one rank.
Actually, no matter what, Jialade couldn’t defeat Truth. Because the Thousand Lakes Arena was only an Intermediate Rank arena.
Its power couldn’t suppress King Rank Truth. If Truth wanted, she could break the restrictions at any time and crush Jialade with absolute power.
However, Truth would still follow the rules. Otherwise, simple crushing would be too boring.
It was more fun to defeat an opponent fairly at the same rank.
But now Jialade had proposed a No-Restriction Death Duel…
