Camilla maintained her reclining posture, moving her body with excruciating slowness, as if peeling herself from amber, until she was completely free from Ophelia’s unconscious embrace around her arm.
Her movements were so light that not a sound was made, and even the indentation in the bed barely changed.
Sitting up, Camilla looked down at her still human hands, her thoughts stirring slightly.
A silent transformation began.
Her jet-black hair gradually shifted from the roots, becoming a soft, luminous cherry pink. The restrained golden gleam in her pupils erupted into a pure, majestic golden light, and the corners of her eyes lifted slightly, adding a charm entirely different from her usual look.
Her bones gave a faint crack, and her figure stretched and unfolded in the dim moonlight, shedding the awkwardness of a young girl and revealing the flowing curves only a mature woman could possess.
The once-fitting nightgown was now tight, outlining heart-stopping curves. A tail, its tip shaped almost like a heart, extended from her tailbone, flexing nimbly.
That’s right—due to her reckless antics in her early years, Camilla had been turned into a Succubus by someone. This secret was known only to herself; she hadn’t told a soul, not even her most trusted elder sister.
A faint squirm and a confused “Pujii?” came from her shoulder bag. Rimuru was awakened by the sudden change in aura.
Wait, who are you? How did my master turn into this?
Camilla turned her head, golden eyes glancing at the bag. She extended a finger and gently tapped the spot where Rimuru was, a gentle yet unmistakably commanding mental message passing through the fabric.
[Stay right here and don’t move until I return. Also, you are not allowed to reveal this to anyone.]
Rimuru replied with a wave of [Worried… Master…] emotion, but obediently settled down and pretended to sleep in the bag.
Satisfied, Camilla withdrew her gaze, nimbly slipping out of bed, her bare feet landing on the cold floor.
With another thought, her overly tight nightgown vanished like a mirage, replaced by a gorgeous black gauze gown. Matching silk stockings and high heels appeared at the same time, giving her an enchanting and demonic allure.
She walked to the window. The moonlight traced her tall, slender silhouette—a stark contrast to the lazy, petite girl from the day. Her cherry pink hair fluttered lightly in the night breeze.
“Invisibility.”
The sixth-tier concealment magic activated instantly. The surrounding light seemed to twist strangely. Camilla’s figure blurred and faded, finally merging entirely with the night; even her presence and magical fluctuations vanished without a trace.
She pushed open the window, letting the night wind rush in.
As light as a weightless ghost, she leapt from the windowsill. Her pink-gold hair drew a nearly invisible arc in the air. In the next instant, she landed like a specter in the shadow of the building across the way. With a few leaps, she completely disappeared into the academy’s labyrinthine architecture, racing toward the rear mountain’s B4 area.
Occasionally, a Magic Golem or Alarm Array on night patrol appeared, but she easily avoided them with astonishing foresight and bizarre angles.
Very soon, she arrived at the edge of the academy’s rear mountain, in B4 area.
This was a semi-enclosed Trial Forest, sealed by a Barrier. Ancient trees towered overhead and the terrain was complex—perfect for summoning practice exams, and also… for hiding things that couldn’t see the light of day.
“So it’s already set up, huh…”
Camilla stopped in the shadow of an ancient tree at the edge of the Barrier, muttering to herself in a low voice, her tone magnetic and dangerous, matching her new appearance.
The Dark Beast Legion was moving even faster than she’d expected. Once these Energy Nodes were activated, not only could they weaken the academy’s protective Barrier, but also serve as anchors to forcibly tear open the underground seal binding the Dark Chimera.
That ninth-tier monster could endlessly produce savage magical beasts, and had once, fifty years ago, brought about a terrifying beast disaster, causing hundreds of thousands of casualties.
In the end, Krovya defeated it and sealed it beneath the academy, using the Dark Chimera’s ability to produce low-level monsters to supply real combat training needs.
The Dark Beast Legion had also taken a liking to this, planning to rescue the ninth-tier beast and secretly raise an unimaginably large army of monsters.
According to the original plot, it was supposed to be the players who “accidentally” discovered the clues during the exam and then powered up to stop it. But now, Ophelia was on the Magic Sword path, and she didn’t have the “Key” (that egg), so the trigger conditions weren’t met.
Camilla wasn’t sure if her sister could handle it, so she decided to act.
She concealed all her presence, melting into the shadows like ink, and silently infiltrated the depths of B4, arriving near the largest Energy Node, where an Altar stood in the forest clearing.
She wondered how the traitor had managed to get this thing in here.
Camilla shook her head, floating several meters above the ground, raising both hands slowly with her palms facing each other, channeling her own energy into the Altar.
Her plan was simple: not to destroy the nodes, but to “activate” them, drawing the attention of the academy’s experts, increasing their vigilance, and forcing the Dark Beast Legion to either give up or act ahead of schedule.
But whichever option they chose, the Dark Beast Legion wouldn’t be able to stir up any trouble—after all, the headmaster was staying in the academy today and hadn’t gone out. If they dared to come, they could be buried here.
Do they have any idea what the gold standard of modern legends means?
A few minutes later.
Buzz—!
The ground trembled violently. Centered on the ancient Altar, a pillar of darkness shot up into the sky without warning. Within the beam, countless savage beasts’ howls and roars could be faintly heard. The raging dark energy rippled outwards, instantly alarming the academy’s various Alarm Arrays.
“It’s done!”
A golden light flashed in Camilla’s eyes as she immediately severed her magical connection and retreated.
Almost at the same time, several spots deep within the academy lit up with dazzling brilliance. Powerful auras surged forth, and the academy’s experts responded swiftly, rushing toward the rear mountain.
“Withdraw!”
Without hesitation, Camilla turned and flew toward the dormitory district even faster than she had come. She had to make it back before being completely locked down, revert to her usual self, and pretend she knew nothing.
She raced beneath the cover of darkness like a silent gale. Behind her, several powerful mental scans swept over the rear mountain, and angry shouts and collisions of energy could be faintly heard—clearly, the professors and guardians had arrived.
Chaos had erupted, the alarm had sounded, her objective was accomplished.
Camilla felt a little relieved as the dormitories came into view. But just as she swept past a pile of discarded items beside the path—
“Ugh… Who’s there? Making such a racket in the middle of the night… Can’t anyone get some sleep around here…”
A slightly hoarse girl’s voice sounded from inside a garbage bin in the corner.
Next, the lid was pushed up from inside, and a petite figure in a student uniform climbed out, rubbing her eyes and swaying sleepily.
A faint glow shone in her pure black eyes; she saw right through the concealment magic and spotted Camilla’s figure.
“Who are you? A demon?”
Ludmila frowned, placing her hand on the hilt of her Magic Sword.
