Chapter 26: Do Zombies Think?

“K…killing someone!” 

With Zhao Zitian’s death, the surroundings immediately erupted into chaos. 

Although everyone had grown accustomed to bloodshed and slaughter after the apocalypse, those were cases of Zombies killing humans or humans killing Zombies. 

This was the first time they’d witnessed a human killing another human. 

Even Chen Chen and Song Xue’er stared at Lin Mo in stunned silence, never expecting he would actually do it—never imagining he’d dare to strike!

“Lin Mo, you… you killed someone!” someone immediately shouted from the crowd. 

Lin Mo glanced over and saw it was Zhang Yu.

“So what?” 

Lin Mo wasn’t feeling great either. 

The sensation of a vibrant life withering away by his own hands was something impossible to truly understand without experiencing it firsthand. 

Yet even so, he didn’t believe he was wrong. 

“I told you—I’m terrified of death. Whoever tries to kill me, I’ll kill them first!”

Lin Mo truly feared death. 

He feared that if he died, no one would save Xiao Ya, no one would go looking for her…

“Lin Mo, you murderer… you…” 

Chen Chen pointed at Lin Mo, her voice fierce but her courage thin.

“What about me? He tried to kill me, so I killed him. That’s perfectly normal. If you still want to come after me, I’ll kill you too-to eliminate future trouble!” 

Lin Mo snarled, his expression twisted. 

Under the influence of the killing, he was struggling to control his emotions.

“Lin Mo… even if Zhao Zitian… you still shouldn’t have killed him outright. How are the others supposed to see you now?” 

This time, even Song Xue’er frowned slightly as she looked at Lin Mo.

“Do I care how others see me? What does their opinion have to do with me? Since when does Lin Mo need your judgment for his actions?! Besides, I’ve long wanted to leave this godforsaken place!”

With that, Lin Mo turned and prepared to walk away.

“…” 

Song Xue’er stared blankly at Lin Mo’s retreating figure. This man…..

“N-no… bad news!” 

At that moment, someone from the group suddenly screamed.

“What now?” 

Song Xue’er asked impatiently.

“L-look for yourselves!” 

The person trembled uncontrollably, pointing shakily in the direction they’d come from.

Song Xue’er immediately turned to look, as did everyone else—even Lin Mo glanced back.

“Hiss-!” 

In the next instant, everyone present drew a sharp breath. 

Not far from them, in the direction of Building A, the area was now completely surrounded by Zombies. 

Hundreds, maybe thousands of them had the teaching building sealed tight.

“H-how… when?” 

Song Xue’er’s beautiful eyes widened in horror. 

These Zombies had moved without making a single sound, allowing them to gather just a short distance away without anyone noticing.

As they took in the horde of Zombies encircling Building A, a chill ran down everyone’s spines. 

If they hadn’t left today…

Even Lin Mo broke out in a cold sweat. 

Facing that many Zombies, even he would stand no chance!

“Where did all these Zombies come from?” someone in the crowd asked.

“No wonder we haven’t seen many Zombies lately-they were gathering…”

“But why would Zombies gather like this?”

Hearing someone say this and combining it with his earlier speculations, Lin Mo arrived at a chilling conclusion-these Zombies were gathering together, preparing to wipe out all remaining humans in one fell swoop!

This speculation might not be correct, but judging from the current situation, it seemed increasingly plausible. 

But then… the question arose-how could Zombies gather like this? 

How could they know to surround humans and eliminate them all at once?

Could Zombies… think?

But how was that possible?

“Look out, they’re coming this way!”

Lin Mo jolted and looked up—it was true. 

The Zombies seemed to have noticed survivors in this direction and were now heading straight for them!

“Run!”
