Rocks smashed onto the spaceship with such force it was doubtful if the ship would break.
Lin Zhen saw Anvil’s face pale and quickly comforted him.
“Don’t worry, the spaceship has external alloy armor. These rocks can’t damage the ship. Even if it breaks, it can be repaired.”
“I’m not afraid,” Anvil managed a smile.
Lin Zhen smiled back and looked through the viewport to check their current altitude.
The spaceship continued to be lifted by the metal ground, rapidly breaking through a rock layer nearly 10 meters thick with a terrifying feed rate.
The intense friction caused the tip of the drill to glow with an eerie purple light, and the falling rock fragments were covered in scorch marks. A strange, foul-smelling burnt odor filled the air.
After more than 20 seconds, the final rock layer was successfully breached.
*Rumble!*
The ground of the wooden pavilion atop the divine stone in the giant stone city collapsed instantly.
The massive purple-glowing drill continued to extend from underground, smashing the entire wooden pavilion to pieces.
Broken wood and shattered tiles fell onto the top of the spaceship, joining the pile of rubble.
Brilliant starlight spilled from the sky as a leaf-shaped spaceship slowly rose from inside the great rock.
Below it was a rectangular metal platform that continued to rise.
Aristocrats who were spending their leisure time enjoying the night view at the top of the great rock were scared to death at first by the violent tremors, thinking it was an earthquake or an attack by huang elves.
Then they saw this technologically advanced spaceship appear, lost their wits, and stumbled back down.
“Prepare for takeoff!”
Lin Zhen watched these fleeing green elf Aristocrats through the dome window, knowing they would surely call the tree god guards once they left. However, he couldn’t be bothered to kill them.
He was leaving anyway, and even if he didn’t kill them, such a huge commotion would eventually attract the tree god guards’ attention.
“Launch!”
Lin Zhen slowly pushed the control lever. The next second, a strong force pushed them back into their seats, and the spaceship surged off the metal platform.
They flew toward the night, toward the Starfield, toward the future, and toward everything they hoped for!
Except for Yun Ruoxi, everyone on the spaceship, including Aili, held their breath.
They had done everything they could.
Next was the gamble of their lives.
A gamble on whether the warship would discover them and shoot them down first, or if they would reach space first and activate the positive-negative warp engine to escape.
“We can make it!” Zi Jiu murmured.
“We will definitely succeed! Mom, Dad, I’m coming ba—”
*Click!*
Before Zi Jiu could finish, the spaceship suddenly jolted as if it had crashed into a swamp, and its flight speed plummeted.
Zi Jiu and the others lunged forward due to the powerful inertia. Fortunately, they were all wearing seatbelts, so they didn’t slam their heads into the cabin.
But Aili was thrown by the inertia. Luckily, Yun Ruoxi, whose hand she had been holding, suddenly gripped her hand tightly and pulled her back.
Aili fell from the air and landed on the floor, but she ignored the pain and looked at Yun Ruoxi, who had her eyes closed, in surprise.
“Sister, Sister, is that you? Thank you for saving me! I knew you were still so kind.”
“Hmph!”
Yun Ruoxi turned her head away.
She was being stubborn yet cute.
But trouble had occurred up ahead.
“What’s happening?”
Zi Jiu and the others didn’t have the energy to focus on the tender moment behind them. They just wanted to know what exactly had happened, each of them hurriedly turning to look out the porthole.
The spaceship seemed to be bound by some invisible force.
It could not continue flying.
Without a doubt, someone had come!
But who was it? Was it the commandant? Or…
Lin Zhen stood up and looked back.
A brown-haired youth floated in the air, veins bulging on his forehead, his right hand gripping the air in front of him.
He seemed to perceive Lin Zhen’s gaze and suddenly gave Lin Zhen a faint smile. His lips moved, silently mouthing three words: “Come on down.”
After speaking, his right hand swiped downward forcefully, and the force restricting the flight disappeared instantly.
But in the next second—
The surface of the spaceship melted instantly, and the engines suddenly failed, causing it to fall straight from the sky.
Mo Yuan!
Lin Zhen grabbed his seat to steady himself, gritting his teeth.
‘It’s actually him. How could it be him!’
In the entire battle camp, there were very few trainees capable of intercepting a taking-off spaceship; one could say they were far and few between.
Mo Yuan was undoubtedly one of them.
He was also the enemy Lin Zhen least wanted to meet, other than Yun Ruoxi.
But every cloud has a silver lining.
His arrival was also good news.
Because the person who came was a trainee, not a commandant, it meant the person who learned the news didn’t want to alert all the higher-ups of the battle camp.
They still had time to regroup.
‘So, is it really you—Dr. Forefinger?’
Lin Zhen’s thoughts raced as he immediately used his supernatural power to repair the spaceship.
But because Mo Yuan was continuously causing trouble, the spaceship couldn’t regain power.
Destruction is always easier than protection.
Seeing the spaceship about to crash, Lin Zhen had no choice but to protect the vital structures that couldn’t be repaired—the warp engine, the regular engines, and some key wiring.
He called on Kaos to help him hold the spaceship up, making it hit the ground as slowly as possible to minimize damage and reduce repair time.
Lin Zhen hadn’t given up on escaping yet!
“Prepare for impact!”
Looking at the rapidly approaching ground, Lin Zhen turned and shouted.
The next second.
With a loud *bang*, the spaceship crashed directly onto the ground, bouncing a few times and shedding a pile of metal fragments. After sliding for more than 10 meters, it crashed into a private residence.
*Creeeak…*
The eaves couldn’t bear the weight and fell, smashing onto the top of the spaceship, which had been dented in by 0.5 meters.
The brown-haired youth, Mo Yuan, wearing a Starforce Battlesuit, slowly floated to the ground. Four streaks of black light flickered from a distance and appeared beside him.
“Did you catch them?” the Eldest Brawler asked.
“Not yet, I only destroyed their transportation.”
Mo Yuan stared intently at the spaceship, half of which was buried in the house.
“Then what are we waiting for? Why not take this chance to strike and capture them directly?”
The Eldest Brawler cracked his neck, his bones making a crisp sound.
“If you want to die, go right ahead.”
Mo Yuan glanced at him.
“Xinglan hasn’t shown her face yet.”
Hearing Xinglan’s name, the Eldest Brawler calmed down, but anger still flashed in his eyes.
“A Zhen and the others were able to get the spaceship off the ground, which means Xinglan has probably joined them in their desertion.”
“We can’t be careless. If she’s not on our side, not only are we at a numerical disadvantage, but our combat power…”
