The two of them talked for a while longer, primarily regarding the topic of gender-swapping. Xu Yinsheng spent most of the time grumbling. Using the bathroom was a hassle, washing hair was a hassle, and even eating was a hassle. She couldn’t eat anything too cold, too spicy, or too “chilly” in terms of traditional properties. On top of all that, she had to endure several days of pain every month.
Being a woman was really not easy…
After a bout of complaining and venting, supplemented by the enlightenment and comfort provided by the genuine girl beside her, the resentment that had accumulated in Xu Yinsheng’s heart over the past half a year finally dissipated a little.
When the time was right, the two of them stood up and headed downstairs.
It was currently dusk, and the setting sun was infinitely beautiful as it dipped below the horizon. There were very few people dining in the first-floor restaurant, only a sparse handful. As Xu Yinsheng looked down the stairs, she happened to spot a certain black-haired girl she had met once before.
A small, listless head was slumped over a dining table. Spread out before her was a clean, pristine winter break homework book. The girl’s brow was furrowed deeply. One hand flipped through the answer key while the other was scribbling furiously.
As if sensing someone’s gaze, the black-haired girl lifted her head and looked in her direction. Her eyes instantly lit up, and she waved with great enthusiasm.
“Sister Shimo!”
“Meng Meng,” Jiang Shimo replied from behind Xu Yinsheng. She quickened her pace down the stairs, walked to the girl’s side, and reached out to rub the small head that was drooping from the heavy workload. “Still catching up on summer homework? I told you to finish your assignments before going out to play.”
“No!” Meng Meng pouted, looking aggrieved. She flipped the book over to the cover and pointed at the *3-Year College Entrance Exam, 5-Year Simulation*. “I finished my homework ages ago. This is the exam prep material my dad bought for me. He even supervises me to make sure I finish several pages every day.”
After speaking, Meng Meng looked at Xu Yinsheng, who had just come down the stairs. The person looked familiar, but she couldn’t quite remember where they had met. Could it be…
“Sister Shimo, is this sister your best friend?” she asked Jiang Shimo with a dazed, cute expression.
“What best friend?” Jiang Shimo snickered. “This is my cousin.”
She patted Meng Meng’s shoulder and looked at Xu Yinsheng to take the initiative in introducing them. “Cousin, let me introduce you. This is Uncle Meng Le’s daughter. She is in her second year of high school and attends Deep Blue Middle School in Binhai City.”
Xu Yinsheng nodded. She stepped forward a few paces and politely extended her hand, bowing slightly. “Xu Yinsheng. I live in the Tianhua Community, Villa No. 16. If you run into trouble, you can find me.”
Meng Meng reached out her right hand in a daze. After a moment of hesitation, she shook hands. “Uh… hello, Brother.”
She turned her head to look at Jiang Shimo again, her face blank and her eyes filled with confusion. She didn’t understand why her older cousin wanted her to call another girl, who looked barely older than herself, “Brother.”
Meng Meng looked at Jiang Shimo, while Jiang Shimo looked at Xu Yinsheng and blinked, as if asking: ‘Should I tell her the truth?’
Xu Yinsheng returned a look: ‘Do whatever you want.’
Suddenly, Xu Yinsheng caught a glimpse of a figure outside the window through the corner of her eye. Their gazes met for a split second before the figure vanished rapidly.
Her expression darkened slightly, but she maintained a normal demeanor in front of the two girls. Xu Yinsheng patted Jiang Shimo’s shoulder and tossed out a casual remark.
“You two chat. I have something to take care of, so I’m leaving first.”
With that, she moved past them. However, as she brushed past Meng Meng, Xu Yinsheng’s footsteps paused for a fraction of a second. She lowered her head slightly and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear, “Hello there, the Sailor Moon from that night.”
A flash of shock flickered in the depths of Meng Meng’s eyes.
Noticing the girl behind her stiffen slightly, the corners of Xu Yinsheng’s lips curled into a smile as she walked briskly out of the restaurant.
As expected, after seeing something “dirty,” teasing a little sister was the best way to soothe one’s mood.
Upon exiting the restaurant, Xu Yinsheng didn’t go to the parking lot to get her car. Instead, she started wandering aimlessly through the streets.
She ate a grilled sausage, drank a cup of milk tea, munched on a skewer of grilled octopus tentacles, and walked with frequent stops. Occasionally, she would play for a bit at a ring-toss stall on the side of the road.
The sky slowly darkened during her leisurely stroll.
She tossed an empty beer can into a trash bin. By now, the sky had turned completely dark, and the moonlight blanketed the earth.
Xu Yinsheng left the bustling downtown area and stepped into a deep, secluded alley. The light at the entrance of the alley was dim, and the stone path inside was uneven. There were patches of weeds on the left and piles of trash on the right, and the air was permeated with a faint, rotten stench of decay.
Xu Yinsheng’s expression remained unchanged. With her hands in her pockets, she walked forward on her own.
She turned left into a branch of the alley. The end of the branch was a dead end. The surroundings were deathly quiet without a single sound; she could only hear her own steady, rhythmic breathing and heartbeat.
She slowly turned around, crossed her arms over her chest, and scanned the surroundings with a cold gaze.
Suddenly, her red lips parted, and she uttered two words in a chilling, indifferent tone.
“Come out.”
The wind blew through the grass, but there was no sound of birds or people. The surroundings remained silent, with only the rustling of distant trees, as if everything was merely her imagination.
“Don’t make me say it again. Come out!” Xu Yinsheng gritted her teeth, her voice icy.
*Creaaaak…*
A figure stepped out from the corner of the alley. He wore a baseball cap, a plaid short-sleeved shirt, gray sweatpants, and a pair of unremarkable black sneakers. He had a face that Xu Yinsheng was incredibly familiar with.
“Good evening, Miss Xu.” Zhao Yicheng spoke with a smile. Then, he scratched his head and glanced at the dim sky. “I didn’t expect us to run into each other here. It seems Miss Xu and I are quite destined to meet.”
“Get lost!”
Faced with the man playing dumb, Xu Yinsheng directly cursed at him.
Did he really think she was blind?
From the moment she stepped out of the restaurant, she could feel a “little tail” following behind her. At first, she thought the “little tail” was just a coincidence, but after wandering for more than 2 hours, he was still biting firmly onto her heels, refusing to give up!!
If she didn’t show him some teeth, he would really take her for a paper tiger!
A fierce glint flashed in the depths of Xu Yinsheng’s eyes.
With a flash of white light, the Shrine Maiden Outfit, white stockings, absolute territory, and those incredibly socially-embarrassing lines appeared—Magical Girl Xu Yinsheng made her grand entrance!
Then, the magical girl punched through the wall. Her slender fingers plunged directly into the brickwork, and with a surge of strength, she left a deep handprint on the wall.
Xu Yinsheng’s bright eyes flickered with a bloodthirsty, cold light as she looked at the man with a “kind” smile, the corners of her lips curling slightly. “If you don’t leave, this is what happens to those who stalk me!”
Unexpectedly, the scene failed to intimidate the man at all.
Instead, Zhao Yicheng took a step forward. He shrugged his shoulders like a rogue and spread his hands. “Miss Xu, how can you call this stalking? This is just being on the same path, going the same way!”
“Your behavior just now is suspected of slander. I have the right to let my lawyer sue you.”
Veins popped on her fair forehead, and Xu Yinsheng ground her teeth fiercely. If not for the restrictions of the Magical Girl’s Code, she would definitely beat Zhao Yicheng into a pulp and make him kneel on the ground and sing “Conquer”!!
