The next day.
The sky was a hazy grey, and a streak of pale white had already appeared on the horizon. Golden sunlight spilled over the villa, plating the vast expanse of the lawn in a shimmering hue that swayed elegantly in the morning breeze.
At this moment, however, the inside of the villa presented a completely different scene. Behind the main door, in the living room where the windows were perfectly intact, clusters of black threads were tangled everywhere. Countless bandage-like strands, resembling spider silk, crisscrossed and hooked together, making the place look like an insect nest or a spider’s web.
In the very center, a pitch-black giant cocoon made of countless black bandages rose and fell slightly, emitting faint snoring sounds.
*Snore—snore—*
The giant cocoon began to change.
First, cracks appeared on its surface. Then, these cracks gradually began to expand. But because the material was incredibly soft, it did not make any sound.
Time passed second by second.
More and more cracks appeared on the cocoon.
At an unknown moment, a pair of exceptionally fair, small hands suddenly reached out from the top of the giant cocoon. Then, those small hands violently tore the cocoon open.
Following that.
*Rip!*
A young woman wearing casual loungewear, her eyes flickering with a wicked flame, stood in the room.
Xu Yinsheng pressed a hand to her forehead, unable to stop herself from drawing in a sharp breath. Sharp jolts of pain shot through her brain, making it difficult to control herself. However, the intense pain soon vanished.
She composed herself and looked around. The villa was a mess, covered in black silk threads as if the Pansi Cave had manifested in the real world.
‘Hiss! My head hurts so much. What happened last night?’ She wondered. ‘Also, how am I supposed to clean all of this up?’
Xu Yinsheng rubbed her aching temples, trying hard to recall her experiences from the previous day.
‘I visited… the new neighbor… Zhao Yicheng! Did I kill him?’
After thinking for a long time, Xu Yinsheng could only remember Zhao Yicheng and a small snippet of memory after she had locked the door.
‘What exactly happened afterward? Why does my skull hurt so much?’ Xu Yinsheng frowned, her mind still a chaotic mess.
After pondering for a while without result, she stopped pursuing the matter. Looking at the wrecked living room, Xu Yinsheng tied on an apron and began to tidy up the black threads.
After 30 minutes.
“I’m finally done. I’m exhausted.” Xu Yinsheng lay on the sofa, panting heavily.
She flicked her finger, and a kitchen cabinet opened automatically. A cup floated out, filled itself with hot water, and added sugar and a few slices of ginger before finally landing in her hand.
After taking a blissful sip of the brown sugar water, Xu Yinsheng immediately felt much more comfortable.
The Magical Girl Form was quite useful. Even without transforming, she could use some Telekinesis abilities, though it consumed physical strength. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to clean everything up in just 30 minutes.
It was just that… while using her Magical Girl abilities this time, Xu Yinsheng felt strange, as if something was different. However, she couldn’t put her finger on what exactly had changed.
*Ding-dong—*
Just as Xu Yinsheng was about to carefully study her current state, the doorbell suddenly rang.
“Coming,” she called out casually. She put down her teacup and walked to the door.
Only after confirming through the peephole that it wasn’t Zhao Yicheng did Xu Yinsheng feel safe enough to open the door.
Standing outside was a young woman wearing a white shirt and white tight-fitting pants. She wore gold-rimmed glasses, had a rather delicate face, and carried a medical kit. She looked very professional.
“Little Mo, you’re here so early this time?” Xu Yinsheng greeted her with a smile. “Please, come in. I’ll pour you some water.”
“I have a blind date this afternoon,” the woman with the medical kit said flatly.
This was Mo Jiaqi.
She was the psychiatrist Xu Yinsheng had hired to diagnose and treat her mental state.
And… yes, she was the same woman who had previously swindled 4,000,000 from her.
Mo Jiaqi followed Xu Yinsheng into the villa. After setting down her medical kit, she took a Mental Fill-in-the-blank Form from her bag and handed it over.
At the same time, she looked at the beautiful woman sitting on the sofa—long legs, a tiny waist, and a peach-shaped rear. Even though this wasn’t their first meeting, she couldn’t help but marvel.
It was hard to associate this appearance with the somewhat handsome young man from a few years ago. Especially when her gaze lingered on that pert, full chest for 1 second, she felt that perhaps she should try drinking papaya milk herself.
Thinking back to when they reconnected and she learned that her ex-boyfriend had not only turned into a girl but also suffered from mental illness, Mo Jiaqi felt a mix of shock, helplessness, and lamentation.
The world was indeed too crazy. Perhaps the lab and white mice were more suited for her.
Then, she had surrendered under Xu Yinsheng’s onslaught of extra money!
It couldn’t be helped; scientific experiments were black holes for cash.
Xu Yinsheng glanced at the Mental Fill-in-the-blank Form and then looked at Mo Jiaqi. “Little Mo, how is my mental state? Also, why did the medicine you prescribed last time feel like jellybeans when I ate it?”
‘Because they were jellybeans; they’re just for psychological comfort,’ Mo Jiaqi grumbled inwardly. On the surface, however, she answered with a serious face.
“Specialized medicine naturally has special effects. How has your sleep quality been lately?”
Xu Yinsheng bit her finger, thinking for a moment. “Much better than before. I used to have nightmares constantly, but in my recent sessions of sleep, there hasn’t been any sign of him.”
During the period immediately after leaving Zhao Yicheng, Xu Yinsheng had been almost unable to sleep through the night. It wasn’t that she couldn’t fall asleep, but rather that she didn’t dare to!
She was afraid of seeing him again in her dreams, afraid of dreaming that everything she had done was futile, that she had been captured by him again, and that she had once more become that little pet to be toyed with at will.
Mo Jiaqi nodded. She adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses and took out Xu Yinsheng’s file from her medical kit to begin the psychological diagnosis.
It started with a few casual questions about daily life to close the distance between patient and doctor. Then came a few slightly more medical questions to discreetly gather information on the patient’s condition.
The two engaged in a question-and-answer session. The medical atmosphere was excellent, and they got along very harmoniously.
Slowly, Mo Jiaqi moved toward the main topic. “How does it feel to be a woman? Have you adapted to having periods? Do you have any sexual urges? Do you feel any desire for men?”
Xu Yinsheng froze. She hadn’t expected Mo Jiaqi to ask such questions. She pursed her lips, a slight blush creeping onto her face, and her voice became as quiet as a mosquito’s hum.
“This… isn’t this a bit inappropriate? These are private matters. Besides, my mental illness shouldn’t have much to do with my gender.”
“You’re wrong.” Mo Jiaqi tapped the file with the tip of her pen, interrupting her. “This is an unavoidable issue for you.”
“I’ve had some suspicions for a while now. Your mental illness might be caused by a cognitive conflict between your psychology and your physiology.”
“I’ve seen your surgery records. Pseudohermaphroditism. However, whether domestically or abroad, there are usually at least 3 months of psychological counseling and various lessons on womanhood before the surgery is performed.”
“But you, Xu Yinsheng—do you really know how to be a woman? Or rather, are you truly psychologically prepared to be a woman!”
Once Mo Jiaqi entered her professional work state, her words were often sharp and unyielding. Even her mentor had commented that her personality was suited for research rather than being a practicing psychiatrist.
Hearing this, Xu Yinsheng’s body stiffened. She lowered her head, not daring to meet Mo Jiaqi’s scrutinizing gaze.
Seeing this, the confirmation of certain suspicions in Mo Jiaqi’s mind grew stronger. In terms of psychology, the “tomboy” Xu Yinsheng had no identification with her female status at all.
She looked at the exquisite girl before her, her gaze filled with either pity or regret.
“Alright, I admit my previous question was too aggressive. Now, let’s change the subject…” Mo Jiaqi lightly patted the girl’s fragrant shoulder and took the initiative to switch to a more relaxed and pleasant topic.
1 hour later.
The psychological diagnosis concluded. Mo Jiaqi walked out of the villa carrying her medical kit. Behind her, Xu Yinsheng waved goodbye, shouting for her to have a pleasant blind date.
She looked down at the bank transfer notification on her phone and let out an almost imperceptible sigh.
When a disease is in the skin, it can be reached by topical treatments; in the flesh, by needles; in the stomach and intestines, by medicine. But when it reaches the bone marrow, even the god of fate has no say in the matter.
