After binding, Jiang Ke’er had already learned how to use both magical artifacts.
The method to use the Heavenly Thunder Annihilation Array involves arranging it in a specific pattern to form a formation, which can summon heavenly thunder to attack enemies.
This arrangement doesn’t require prior setup; it can be manipulated with intent anytime, anywhere, allowing for spontaneous formation.
Thus, Jiang Ke’er doesn’t need to prepare in advance and can activate it after a fight begins.
The True Martial Ten Thousand Talisman Box, on the other hand, is quite intriguing. It’s an exquisitely crafted mechanical box containing 36,700 talisman papers, each at least of the fifth tier or higher.
The box has three operational options: one to select the talisman’s tier, one to choose the talisman’s type, and a trigger.
The operational mode in combat is as follows: First, hold the box steady, resting its end on your shoulder, then grip the trigger with one hand while aligning one eye with the sight. Next, use your intent to select the talisman’s tier, ranging from fifth to eighth tier. Then, choose the desired talisman type, such as explosive, sealing, standard five-element spells, variant five-element spells, illusion, trap, or auxiliary types, among others.
After making these selections, pull the trigger to enjoy the rapid-fire release of talismans.
In theory, as long as the box has enough talisman reserves, even an Eight Trigrams Realm Venerable could be overwhelmed by the barrage.
If higher-tier talismans are loaded, it might even challenge those of higher realms. Truly, it’s a must-have divine artifact for pay-to-win cultivators.
“I love this thing,” Jiang Ke’er said, hugging the True Martial Ten Thousand Talisman Box, grinning ear to ear.
“So what if you’re a high realm? Pfft, eat my dust!”
Soon, rustling sounds came from the cave entrance, signaling the return of Kuang Yuanwei and the others.
Jiang Ke’er had already put away the True Martial Ten Thousand Talisman Box and the array stones, sitting obediently by the stone dragon’s head, leaning against it as if half-asleep.
“Where’s Venerable Fox Slayer?” Jiang Ke’er asked, noticing that Venerable Fox Slayer hadn’t come down.
“Venerable Fox Slayer is still setting up some high-tier formations. We couldn’t help, so we came down first,” Kuang Yuanwei replied.
For the first time, he saw Jiang Ke’er’s clean face and was momentarily stunned.
“I see.”
While Kuang Yuanwei was dazed, Jiang Ke’er seized the moment when Venerable Fox Slayer was absent.
With a flick of her palm, she activated her theft technique! However, she didn’t take anything from Kuang Yuanwei; instead, she slipped a generous gift into his Qiankun bag at his waist.
Kuang Yuanwei, completely unaware, continued staring blankly at Jiang Ke’er’s face.
It wasn’t until Venerable Fox Slayer returned that he snapped out of it.
“This is a fox demon, already subdued by me,” Venerable Fox Slayer declared proudly.
“What?” Kuang Yuanwei’s face darkened, his heart instantly filled with regret.
How had he not realized she was a fox demon? Had he known she was a newly born fox demon, powerless and at his mercy, he could have refined her into a cauldron and fled with her.
Why bother with this dragon-slaying nonsense? A fox demon’s value was no less than that of a pure-blood dragon clan saintess! With her, he could easily cultivate beyond the ninth tier.
Why remain a lowly official?
Now things were a mess.
Not only was Kuang Yuanwei left to scavenge the scraps—some dragon blood and scales as mere labor fees—but even the fox demon had fallen into Venerable Fox Slayer’s hands, completely out of his reach.
Venerable Fox Slayer, quite pleased with how he’d bamboozled Kuang Yuanwei, pinched his fingers to calculate.
“The time is near. Let’s head to the cave entrance and prepare.”
But before he could finish, his expression shifted.
A commotion erupted outside the cave.
A cacophony of voices shouted, “Found it! Found it!” and “We finally found it! Quick, set up the formation, there’s still time!”
Moments later, the cries turned to panic: “Ah! It’s a trap!”
“Help!”
“Call the Venerable Elder!”
Venerable Fox Slayer’s face darkened.
He hadn’t expected other cultivators to locate the dragon vein entrance before noon, and from their words, it was clear these were disciples from the three major sects.
No way could he let them report back to their Venerables.
They had to die here!
“Follow me! Silence them!” Venerable Fox Slayer charged out of the cave like a gust of wind, with Kuang Yuanwei and the others scrambling to keep up.
Outside, screams filled the air.
Jiang Ke’er grabbed her True Martial Ten Thousand Talisman Box, fired a Light Body Talisman at her temple, and leaped to the cave entrance.
Clinging to the edge, she peeked out, grabbing a handful of weeds to cover her head as camouflage before secretly observing the situation.
Venerable Fox Slayer moved with terrifying speed.
In moments, he’d left a trail of severed limbs and bodies.
Jiang Ke’er saw that the disciples from the three major sects at the entrance had been slaughtered by his hammer.
Unfortunately, he was a step too late.
A transmission talisman had already flown off, too fast for even Venerable Fox Slayer to intercept.
“Fight to the death!” Venerable Fox Slayer gritted his teeth and turned to Kuang Yuanwei and the others.
“See how many Venerables show up. If it’s just one, we activate the formation immediately, strike with full force, and take him out in an instant!”
“And if two or three come?” Kuang Yuanwei asked.
“Then we apologize. A few low-tier disciples aren’t worth the three major sects going all-out against us,” Venerable Fox Slayer replied.
Jiang Ke’er glanced at the corpses on the ground, all bald, indicating they were a scouting team from Great Light Temple.
That meant the one most likely to arrive next was a Venerable from Great Light Temple.
Sure enough, moments later, a figure came speeding from the distance, bare-chested and exuding the aura of an Arhat.
Venerable Fox Slayer didn’t hesitate.
As the figure entered the ambush zone of the formation, he roared, “Now!”
The Arhat-like monk froze mid-air, his face contorted in fear.
He realized his mistake— this was an eighth-grade Space-Locking Array! It was no less powerful than the treasured formations of the three major sects. Caught off guard in its range, even he would be immobilized for a dozen breaths.
If a Venerable-level powerhouse was lying in wait, those dozen breaths were enough to kill him dozens of times over.
Unfortunately, he was dead right.
Venerable Fox Slayer’s massive hammer smashed toward the monk’s head.
In a single breath, it struck hundreds, if not thousands, of times.
The monk’s body erupted in golden light, activating his Indestructible Vajra Body to resist.
But Venerable Fox Slayer’s hammer was the perfect counter to such defensive cultivators.
Though the monk held on for a few extra breaths, he couldn’t escape death.
Jiang Ke’er saw only a blur before the monk’s head vanished, reduced to a cloud of blood mist in the air.
But the monk hadn’t delayed in vain. In those few breaths, two beams of light—one white, one black—arrived from the distance, witnessing the scene clearly.
